This video is something beautiful. I am a throwaway account, someone you’ll probably never meet, but I want you to know that your words will touch each and every person that watches this video.
It’s hard to talk about mental health, because so much of what a person goes through is subjective and terrifying. Coupled with that, the prospects of “easy fixes” or “cures” are not viable options unlike actual medicine because self-healing is a time-consuming and extremely long journey.
And I know that a lot of people don’t even know where to start, and that it’s easy to pursue shallow and easy pleasures in the hopes that you’ll be better in the long term.
But hiding right inside your head is the only thing you’ll ever need. Your brain processes an extreme amount of information every day, from how you’re feeling to what your principles are to the conversations you’ve had throughout the day. It alone knows everything about you and it condenses all of this into the very helpful friend known as your “subconscious”.
Although we’re all different and have unique perspectives, your “gut” will always be with you and it knows the best way to make you happy. The best thing you can do whenever the opportunity arises is to listen to it and follow it. This isn’t always an intense action; it could be something simple, like sitting and watching the rain fall. It’s important to listen to your brain’s advice and try to follow it, because that’ll make you a stronger person and a happier one in the long term.
Many of us have emotional baggage, whether from our own mistakes or from other’s actions. It’s okay to have this baggage, to let it sit inside our minds for days, months, and years while going through life. It’s ok to struggle with it, day after day, to go through your life with a smile on your face while weeping inside and almost giving up.
But I want everyone reading this post to know that there will eventually come a day where you complete this journey. It will take time but it will happen, and I hope to one day meet and laugh with you about it.

Its been over a year and I'm still recovering from a emotionally abusive relationship. It feels near impossible to heal from it still to this day but im considering therapy. Thanks for your words of encouragement.

As a man, I gotta say I bottle up my feelings and I do it everyday. It's not like I don't know or I am not aware of how unhealthy it is and that it's okay to express myself.
It just comes naturally, I have personally experienced like as a man if I do go around and try to talk about it with people they often avoid it and say it's only natural and that as a man I should not talk about it and I should fight it instead of complaining.
So well yeah I have stopped altogether talking about something I am not very comfortable with, I just let it go.
Sometimes those things bug me and sometimes they do not but yeah this is how it goes.
I don't even why I talked about it now and here...😅

Honestly, it’s ok to feel like that. Bottling up your feelings or suppressing them is sometimes a very natural response, and it takes time to learn that it isn’t the most optimal one.
A lot of mental health revolves around the slow process of healing and maintaining your identity, self-esteem, and inner thoughts so somedays it may seem that you are excessively sad in proportion to what has happened or what you’ve done. In that regards, life is fickle because there are no clear rewards for anything. If you work really hard, you might still be caught in sadness.
However, there are ways to gain some more control over your thoughts and actions, transitioning from someone who gets hit from everything life throws at them to someone who can confidently handle those problems and incidents. It’s a long road because it is a slow road and every-day you exist and live is another victory.
Focus on doing what makes you happy and try to accept that some things are out of your control, so they are useless to worry about.
Mind you, it’s ok to do all that and still be sad, but at least you’ve done all you can and will be able to have an easier sleep because of it.
If nothing else, I hope you have a long and successful life!

no im glad you shared!! it’s really good that you are self aware- i’m glad you are still able to let go despite not talking about it. yeah it sucks a lot the double standards where guys should just “man up” n stuff like that- but its unfortunate bc suppressing ur feelings isn’t good and i hope you can eventually find the right people to talk to❤️
