to be fair Shanks gave Kidd chance plenty enough to back down he still all chill and calm up until the moment he saw the glimps of possible future. Shanks always like this from ep 1 he let people ridicule him but when they aim at his friend Lucky Roux shot them in the head with no hesitation

Kid rocked up to the home base of one of the most feared pirate crews in history and after tag teaming big mom and barely winning and decided to antagonize another emperor unprovoked while shanks and his commanders were drinking on the island and felt confident enough to beat them with his only other fighter being killer. I don't care what anyone says, that is pure stupidity. Plain and simple

At least in anime it feels like kid is only destroyed but in manga it felt like he died, any way rip for Kid and his crew because even if they get rescued, they will be traumatized for the rest of their life.
