蘇州河畔 Suzhou He Ban - By The Romantic Suzhou River Bank enhanced with Rumba rhythm

One never tires of singing Mandarin oldies. This song Suzhou He Ban was touted as the "most romantic song" ever. Composed by 陳歌辛 Chen Gexin, (1914-1961), a prolific song writer known for composing songs that holds its popularity till today. Song was sung in 1946 by Yao ming (a popular song writer) in harmony with sister Yao Li who was also a popular singer of the 40s.
Suzhou is a city west of Shanghai known for its Classical Garden, Bridges and Canals and is often called "Venice of the East". More than 42 per cent of the city is covered with water navigated by boats in the canals. It has over 100 gardens 9 of which are UNESCO heritage site. "Classical Chinese garden design aims to create a flawless miniature landscape and emphasize the profound harmony between man and nature - and Suzhou’s gardens are regarded as masterpieces of the genre. Though these elaborate, private gardens owned by the rich and royal date back to the sixth century B.C., it wasn’t until the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties that Suzhou’s garden art reached its zenith" When you visit the Classical Garden homes, observe 4 elements in the garden namely architecture, plants, water and stones. Had the opportunity to visit the city twice many many years ago.
