There are two things that I like with your channel: (1) the guitar chords and bass tabs; (2) the fact that you are accompanying the song (with vocals & entire band) with the bass guitar.
Other channels mute the vocals, or just isolated bass.
    Keep it up. Pure talent.

Antonio Usai the sponge mutes the strings to better emulate the muted tone that James Jamerson had. Jamerson played on flatwound strings and never changed/cleaned his strings, so they had a more dead, thumpy sound to them.

MrBuda watch some videos on proper technique your wrist shouldn’t be hurting that badly unless something is already wrong with it in which case you may need to adjust your technique which it sounds like you need to do anyway. Make sure the neck is up high enough for starters and not lateral with the bass body and floor, your bass should sit at an angle whether in your lap or standing.

    Note for note ….Nailed it!
It tickles me when people think that there’s some other person that plays like, or is as good as, James Jamerson.
You may think you heard bass performances on this level. Till I ask “Who? Name one person since 1959 that is not a jazz musician that played bass on this level?”
    Don’t embarrass yourself.
No bass player in the world ever said “I’m better than James.”
    They dare not.
He’s the genuine absolute G.O.A.T. Of the electric bass.
Listen to the melody he generates (from a bass?).
Sorry. The bass is not a melodic instrument.
It was never created to be.

IMO this is one of the greatest songs of all time. Thanks for posting this. Is it just me or does this song NEVER land on the I chord, no matter what key they're in? It seems like they always elide to the vi chord, unless it's IN minor! Or, they'll use the ii or the IV instead. Those coupled with the super dramatic hanging half-diminished chord at the beginning, It gives the song this powerful, unresolved feeling. It keeps sounding like it's getting there (IV chord), then falling back to trying to get there (half diminished), etc. That extremely active bass line really helps underline, build and support this tension. It's like no other song I've ever heard. Major kudos to Ashford, Simpson and Jamerson!

the bass line is basically jazz bass over a totally pop chorus...the dichotomy between the two styles is what makes 1) Jamerson such a genius on bass and 2) why the chorus bass "pops" so hard and sounds amazing...even to people who have no idea what's going on musically.

Awesome stuff, could you do "Heard it through the Grapevine" by Gladys Knight & the Pips some time maybe? Don't know if it really is Jamerson on Bass on that track but it sure is one hell of a bassline :)
