I live in West Horndon but 1 of only 5 houses classed as Thurrock (like Bulphan) as all the other houses are on the other side of the railway line and they are Brentwood. My house was the railway crossing guard's house that was built back in 1885 when the railway was put in with East Horndon station (later renamed West Horndon). The crossing was only in use for a handful of years before they rerouted the road and created a hump back bridge. (the old road became my driveway). I don't believe in ghosts and believe that everything can be explained. I have lived in this house for 7 years and never once had anything unusual happen. Until 2 months ago when I came down the stairs one morning and stood in the kitchen to decide what I was going to do first. At which point, a young girls voice directly behind me, loudly and very clearly said "thank you". I turned around and there was nothing there. The girlfriend was at work, the neighbour was out and the cat was asleep in the front room. I was shocked, I went cold and I got goosebumps but I never felt scared as the voice was kind and polite. I've not heard anything since. I stupidly told the girlfriend who then didn't sleep properly for weeks lol. I was told that I was absolutely not allowed to look into the history to see if a young girl died here or on the railway crossing.
Great video I believe in your ghost stories.The man on the bike and the man with pitch fork reminds me of similar story my grown son told me .He was walking back from night out in town ,had to walk along the road across the common ,it was around 2 or 3 am ,he was stopped by a man on old fashioned cycle ,wearing Victorian style clothes ,the man started circling his cycle around my son ,as he got closer he looked face to face at my son ,son screamed jumped back as this man had what he describes a skeleton face just like your photo in your video. I researched the area and there was a work house at end of the road many years back ,the common was a cycle route to town .There was a second incident my son saw a group of men ,same description,on cycles in Victorian clothes at far end of the common road ,son turned back used a different route home .
Around 2005 to 2008 I was working as a cleaner at Ye Olde Plough House Motel on the A128. I was cleaning a room when I heard the sound of what I can only describe as monks singing or chanting. The sound seemed to emanate from the room I was in, almost like the sound of a radio on a low volume. My logical mind tried to find a rational explanation. There were no other guests along the block of rooms around me, no radio or tv’s on and no other cleaners or staff around me other than the gardener and his wheelbarrow on the grounds. Besides, the chanting was coming from within the room I was in. Upon later investigation I could only liken this experience to the sound of Gregorian Monks singing. It was thee most beautiful sound I had ever heard. It only lasted for around 2 or 3 minutes but I will always remember it. Xx
New subscriber here, I've only seen a couple of your videos and can't wait to watch more. This one took me about an hour to watch because I decided to check out Bulphan on Google Street View. So when you spoke of Ye Olde Plough House Pub, I google walked there along the by-pass. I had to chuckle when I saw the sign with the price list for the Sunday dinners. 3 course meal £22.50, 2 course meal £19.95, 1 course meal £14.95, children under 10 £10. I wondered how many children you get for £10 and are they served with chips? I know it's old but this is perfect - "I love children but I couldn't eat a whole one!". Take care, Poo
Hi Shane. Thanks for your video! It’s interesting that only children seem to see the young ‘apparition’. I honestly believe that as we grow we shut down some of our senses. I think it’s so we can cope with the world around us. But this means children are much more open to the paranormal world, and that’s why (I believe) they can see thing which we most often can’t perceive. It’s kinda like the way dogs and cats often see and interact with things we can’t see.
Hi very interesting about Bulphan I have always wondered about the area!, I used to live South Ockendon so frequented the local area a lot, I now live in Brentwood and enjoyed your video on Thordon Park which is very close to where I live, I would love to do more exploring about paranormal goings on, in the general area, I know that a lot of the local area are on direct Ley lines so if this has any bearing on the sightings/ hauntings is questionable, have you ever wondered if that is the case? Keep up the good work, it's very fascinating, by the way where I live is on the old grounds of Warley barracks which is also a very haunted area.
