From the US: Could this be from a BBC "Show of the Week" aired July 15, 1967? The Beeb showing off their bright & shiny new colour cameras for all of the UK to see? Only problem is the band is conducted by Angela Morley (Wally Stott), no "Stan Keaton" or "Stan Kenton" (Kenton was off the road that year).
From the US: Is that some British TV orchestra? When I entered "Stan Keaton" into Google, the search engine thought I was looking for Stanley Newcomb Kenton born in Wichita, Kansas...and we music lovers know who HE was.
Love it! What a great performer he was. TXS, Lou
Thanks for Comments.
Supercool Mel! Love this song but haven't seen this TV performance before - thanks for sharing!
I'll Listen To Mel Torme Song!
He does a very similar arrangement with the Al Porcino Orchestra on the album Mel Torme Live at the Maisonette recorded 1974
Yes he does...but this is pretty darn good as well.
amaaaaaazing..and it was live……..
There's some tape drag cos it's pre digital and the tape was getting old....but he's working live to tape....
Looks like a form of "Quad banding" to me. (broadcast engineer)
