Once again Helen great video, enjoyed watching. Great to see you had bolognese in Bologna with the red to accompany.! Very jealous. Keep 'em coming. Safe travels.
Thanks. Im glad you liked it. You will need some time to explore. There is so much to do. I really loved it. I can recommend a great spot to park a van and get the train in.
Regarding the two towers, the Garisenda is the one which is leaning the most and is actually at risk of collapse. That’s why you see fences around them. The city is trying to prevent this scenario and the maintenance/restoration works are supposed to start either late this year or in 2026. Bologna’s most important church, Saint Peter’s cathedral is in via dell’Indipendenza, some five minutes off from piazza Maggiore. The one in the square, Saint Petronio’s basilica, is the second most important church. Saint Petronio is our Saint patron and his remains are inside that building. I’m halfway through your video and so far I’m liking it. Not every major building is in or around piazza Maggiore. Many museums are in different areas of the city centre, the same goes for many other religious buildings like the churches of Saint Michael in the woods or Saint Stephen’s or the sanctuary of Saint Luke’s. The tigella is originally from a small town in the Modenese appennines called Zocca. There it goes by the name of crescentina as tigella or tigelliera is the name of the utensil people use to make them
Hey, thanks so much for your great comment. I really appreciate it. It will be fabulous when they get the work done on the towers. It was a shame they were sectioned off but I totally understand why. Very important work to do. There are so many other things to explore in Bologne. I absolutely loved it and really didnt have enough time there. There are so many things close to Piazza Maggiore that its easy to fill your days close by there but absolutely you are right there are soooo many other interesting things to see. I feel like I only just scratched the surface. I will just have to visit again another time. What are you favourite things I missed that I should see?
I see an opportunity for you as a travelling Bolognan ambassador Helen…. Looks like an amazing place……and all the main features so very well commentated…..except , right at the very end, theres a statue of a man with rockets on his back, shooting out of a toilet bowl… i need some clarification.
@@GraemeCorbett he does sound interesting. Even if you judge just by the tribute. I read somewhere he did a concert where they didn’t play any music, just boiled pasta
Back to Bologna in 10 days tme for me. I have been to Bologna at least 20 times and never tire to use it as my base Thanks for the video!
Hey! Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked it. I totally understand you going back. What do you love that I should see next time?

Great video! We still haven't made it to Bologna, so we will definitely be adding these things to our list for when we get back to Italy.

@@GraemeCorbett it’s pretty cool! It’s actually a tribute to a famous musician/comedian called Freak Antoni. Maybe you already know him???
That’s a new name for me Helen, but a little googling and I’m better informed. An interesting guy…..
