    Very good Video for CUbase Maschine Users!
    You can drag and drop into one midi part.
    Just go into cubase preferences under midi import and do import to one part the you don´t have all the other midi channels created.

    Very useful video, great stuff man! I did this before when I got Micro MK2 a couple of years ago. Now I got MK3 and while reading the manual, I was having a look back again at tutorials too, just to refresh my mind. I stopped here to this new tutorial that impressed me 'cause this is exactly the kind of integration I did and my way to use it, with the only difference that I use 2 instances of Maschine, one with a single group as a drum machine and one with multiple groups as a sampler. in order to achieve 16 separate outs for the drums and the same for the sampler. So I ask to you, one thing that I've never been able to do: with this setup, if for some reason I create a new group and want to record something but INSIDE the Maschine's sequencer, what happens is that as I press record on Maschine's hardware, it records everything coming in, and automatically changing groups focus. Is there someway to avoid this? Have you never tried this? Thanks in advance for your attention and for your good input to the Maschine community :) Peace!

    Hey D thanks for this cubase/maschine tutorial. Im having a hell of a time setting this up for some reason. I would love to know how you have all drums record on seperate midi tracks as i use maschine mostly for drums in cubase. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    You did a very good thing making this video. Thank you.
    I'm very very irritated however that NI still hasn't, in the two years since, updated Maschine with at least a template to do all this.
    If we can all go in and do this stuff, and they definitely know that people want to run Maschine this way in their DAW, why the f**k didn't they just have their programmers do all this stuff, and in Preferences have "Cubase Integration Setting"? It would literally have taken them 15 minutes, as your video illustrates.
    The part that really infuriates me is that if you use a general midi controller to record a Maschine track in Cubase, it *just works*. None of those steps from the video, no routing, no nothing - it just works. Which again, means NI could have set up the Maschine controller the same way.
    Completely insane.

    I'm having a problem with my maschine Studio. When I change Destination to "host" and in Cubase I change All Midi Inputs to Maschine - Out I can record and hear it well when it's already recorded BUT when I play with Maschine it sounds DOUBLE. Weird thing is, if I change to All Midi Inputs and I play it with the keyboard, it does sound normal and it records. I don't really know what to do... but this is driving me nuts!

    • @D-One
      @D-One  6 лет назад +1

      When using this method recording to Maschine-VST is not a viable option anymore, you have to record to the MIDI track on the DAW... If you're transferring the MIDI to the DAW to arrange there's no reason to record to Maschine. If you ant to keep MIDI in Maschine-VST then theres no need to MIDI route and have this trouble, just route the audio.

    Thanks for this awesome tutorial, D-One. Q: Did anyone manage to get this 100% working with #Bitwig DAW? All is fine on my Mac (Bitwig 2.2, Maschine 2.7) but the Maschine to Bitwig MIDI routing for live recording in DAW is not working - just DAW to Maschine.

  • @SamSilk

    Hey, just a quick word to thank you, I have developed a template based on your explanations to get Cubase to work with Maschine and Elgato's Stream Deck. The upgrade in terms of workflow ease and speed is just insane. I use the Stream Deck to call track archives and launch packs of VSTi tracks with just the push of a button. For those who don't know, the drag & drom MIDI exchange between Cubase and Maschine can be puzzling if you don't set Cubase to import MIDI files as a single track in your preferences.

    • @D-One
      @D-One  6 лет назад +4

      Hello :) While attempting to make a template with no sounds so they can added later I realized it makes very hard to explain and test in a video so the viewer can be sure its working if there are no sounds.... So im trying to figure out a way of doing it that wont confuse users who arent used to routing MIDI. Im also considering to just make a bunch of different templates for several scenarios that people can just download and modify.

    Nice one - I am thinking of getting a Maschine Studio as my fiurst "drum controller" beenm doing Cubase for 15 years now. I currently have a Nektar panorama P1 but it's not that handy for mixing. Can you map the transport controls onto the Maschine interface?

    • @D-One
      @D-One  5 лет назад

      Hello. Yeah, the Studio is able to control transport on Cubase, by default you have:
      Play, Stop, Loop On/off, rewind and fast-forward, the record button will still control Maschine Software but you can remap a button to enable record, also fully switch the unit to MIDI Mode.
      In MIDI mode there are templates to fully control the mixer and many other things (MCU).
      Just be aware that if you buy Maschine Studio to have it work as a drum instrument like Battery in DAW only you will be missing on most of what it can do. If you're ok with that it can be a good investment.

    • @D-One
      @D-One  4 года назад

      No problem! :) Probably never, inserting a complex sequencer inside a DAW will always require routing, its almost like putting a mini-DAW inside the DAW.
      This is the most complicated it can get and not recommended for beginners. You can just route audio channels or use audio drag and drop from Maschine for example, that's what most people do.

    • @D-One
      @D-One  4 года назад

      That makes sense for someone willing to change to Ableton or already using it. Push is a dedicated controller so nothing can beat it for ease of use and advanced control.
      For a Cubase user not interested in switching his DAW, a Push won't even work afaik, so there's that...

    Hi my friend! Thanks for the video! when you multi out put on maschine, you lose all the FX from the group chain, right? Is there a way to overcome this? I feel I lost a a huge ammount of good processing on those kits when multi outputing and I don't know if I just need to replace this FX chain inside cubase or really start from scratch each piece from the kit. Thanks!

    • @D-One
      @D-One  Месяц назад +1

      Yes. Outputting the Pad/Sounds bypasses Group and Master FX. The lib/expansions usually have simple Group FX like Limiters or Maximizers, it's easy to make a bus/broup on the DAW and replicate it with stock Cubase plugs.

    Thank you D-One.
    There are a load of videos claiming to explain this, but yours seems to be the clearest.
    Having said that, there is no excuse for NI to not make a simple drag and drop feature from Maschine to DAW - at the moment it's needlessly long-winded, tiresome and old fashioned - and I'm saying this five years after you uploaded the video and yet they STILL haven't done it!

    • @D-One
      @D-One  Год назад

      No prob, thanks! Well, they cant guess how you want things configured so it can't really be automatic, unless 'options' are removed and you forced to stick with whatever workflow NI thinks is best 🤷‍♂

    Hey, I tried it with your project but unfortunately it doesn´t work really. Ok, if i record something new via your KEYS 1 and KEYS 2, it works, but for the BASS not. It records the midi notes but you can´t hear it afterwards. If I copy/ paste the recorded midi notes from the BASS to KEYS 1 or 2, there it works. It´s hard ;-)

    • @D-One
      @D-One  7 лет назад

      Hi. My fault, on the Bass SOUND - MIDI input source I forgot to set "Host", make that small change and it will work. Sorry for the mistake, i will update the file.

    Great Tut. What I would love to do is set 16 MIDI tracks in Cubase that correspond to the 16 pads in a regular group. I wish to record onto Cubase tracks while hitting the maschine pads and the midi recording onto each cubase MIDI channel at once. Is this possible? So basically it's turning each Cubase midi channel into a corresponding pad in Maschine. If I multi-select each Cubase MIDI channel and record MIDI, I can do multi MIDI recording no?

    • @D-One
      @D-One  5 лет назад

      Yeah. Just set each pad to output to a MIDi channel corresponding to a DAW MIDI track, then enable Record on all those MIDI tracks.. Should be easy based on this tutorial. If you need help you can reach me on the official NI forum, I am a mod there. It's kind of hard to help in YT comments.

  • @SamSilk

    Also I wanted to ask what's the purpose of the "drumkit" mode for the Group MIDI input. I was under the impression it does exactly what you show here for your first group in a single click except it's pretty much useless as soon as you have at least another group because when in drumkit mode the group receives MIDI on all channels indifferetnly. Am I right?

    • @D-One
      @D-One  5 лет назад

      Hi Sam. Yeah, basically. Drumkit mode is mainly for the Komplete Kontrol Keyboards, it can work for some other situations but it has no MIDI channel selection so if you set it in a DAW there's no way separate things... It also has no Group transpose so you're stuck with the way Maschine maps it's pads (starts on C1 while most DAW start on C3)

      Go thru the typical steps of debugging why the plugin does not show up:
      Check your Plugins path folder, see if it is there where it should be.
      Check if Cubase is not blacklisting the plugin.
      Manually delete the Maschine VST and reinstall.
      if all fails ask in the NI forum or google it.

    That is what I needed! Thank you very much for this video! Unfortunately I have the same problem as Ruidos Rados. I have watched your tutorial several times and I am sure I didn´t miss anything. Everything works like in your tutorial but if have recorded some sounds from Maschine in Cubase, I can not listen to them afterwards (even I can see the recorded notes). If I drag and drop some midi from Maschine into Cubase, this problem does not appear, everything works and I can listen to it. Please help, otherwise I have to jump out of the window ;-)

    Hi. In Cubase 10.5 the right Tone doesn't get exported via MIDI. When I change the Tone in the Piano roll and Drag it into Cubase. Any Ideas how to fix this ? thx

    • @D-One
      @D-One  3 года назад

      You have to configure the correct transpose setting in Sound > MIDI > Output, it's covered in the guide so you must have missed it. recheck your settings.

    Do I do this every time a make a project

    • @D-One
      @D-One  4 года назад +1

      If you want... Or you can save the Cubase project as a template and replace the sounds each time your start a new project, which will be a lot more practical if you have sort of a fixed workflow.

    Help me again me pls :) When I'm in browse mode (browse button on) and load a sample into a pad, (Maschine Studio) no midi signal came out when I tap the pads and cannot record nothing. When exiting browse mode (browse button off) I have midi signal and can record sounds and instruments. In other video I saw this is not happen. What is wrong with my settings ? I have maschine 2.7.8 R540. Thanks !

    • @D-One
      @D-One  6 лет назад +1

      Hi. Nothing wrong with your settings, that's expected behavior, you have to exit the hardware browser to be able to record. Maybe it was possible before, but right now it isn't. :S

    • @D-One
      @D-One  6 месяцев назад +1

      Theres no other way, unless you want to do something very simple then DrumKit mode might be enough. You don't have to do it every time, you can save it as a template.

      @@D-One I might have to give it another shot then, I've only just got my self into the world of maschine as I really like NI and I thought this would just help me lay down grooves a lot quicker so I can get to the more important parts of my projects quicker - creating the melodies and basslines,
      but honestly man I'm finding maschine pretty unintuitive, I'm not sure if I'm just set in my ways but every time I try pick it up my creative flow goes out the window from all the menu hopping ,shift clicking and fumbling around. It's Stressed me out something ridiculous this week to the point where I've done zero producing.

    • @D-One
      @D-One  4 года назад

      Check if Maschine VST is installed in the correct Plugin folder, if not then reinstall Maschine, if that doesn't work the in Cubase check Devices > Plugin Manager and see if Maschine 2 is blacklisted for some reason.

    This works brilliantly, except all midi I record into the Cubase sequencer (using Maschine to play the part) is stuck at 127 velocity. Is it possible to record midi into the Cubase sequencer but with variable velocities?
