- Join us on this week's adventure as we explore Galloway Forest Park taking in the sights at the Wild Goat park, Murray’s Monument and Talnotry Waterfall ; Grey Mare's Tail Trail
Wild Goat Park
The car park for Wild Goat Park is on the north side of A712 (also known as The Queen's Way) between Newton Stewart and New Galloway.
Getting to know Galloway's wild goats:
These hairy, long-horned animals are British Primitive Goats. Hardy goats like these were kept by our ancestors, who valued them for their milk, meat and skins.
Several hundred live in the surrounding hills, while about 50 are based in our large enclosure.
The Wild Goat Park aims to recreate a natural environment where they have plenty of space to roam. At any time, but especially in summer, they can disappear among the rocky heights to graze.

Murray’s Monument
The steep climb up to Murray’s Monument is well worth the effort, offering amazing views of Galloway and beyond.
The striking Murray’s Monument was erected in 1835 in memory of Alexander Murray, a local shepherd boy who later became Professor of Oriental Languages at Edinburgh University.
Standing in a prominent position on the hillside, you can enjoy commanding views of the valley and the northern slopes of Cairnsmore of Fleet. To the east of Craigdews are the remains of Dunkitterick Cottage, Murray's birthplace.

Escaping Reality, a channel where we journey to many different locations across the UK and Europe from where we get outside, visit the local area, explore the landscape and experience the great outdoors - sharing our trips, travels and adventures through the medium of film, drone footage and photography.
Travelling in our Adria Twin Supreme 640 SLB.
We both enjoy a plant based diet and may take you with us to some of the vegan cafes, restaurants and eateries that we find on our trips.
Andrew has a passion for photography inspired by his late father who sparked his interest from a very early age. He also enjoys film making and videography which combined with the van adventures provides all the ingredients for the channel.
Thank you , Andrew and Vicky.

Some great scenery there guys and looks a wonderful spot to explore - especially the goat park - Thanks for the tour 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did 👍🏻
Just come across the channel, lovely, we really did enjoy watching all three vids. Wendy & Darren
Thanks so much! 😊 So glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching ☺️
Some stunning scenery there mate , the waterfalls looked amazing. Certainly looks like a home from home that vehicle! Hope your well mate 👍
Many thanks Lee and it’s a beautiful part of the country . Loving the van trips and it certainly is our second home on wheels !
Sorry for the late comment Andrew, have me mom here with us this summer and doing endless DIY projects! I'm always struck by the lack of trees on the hills and mountains over there but then you have a beautiful patch of forest. What a hike to that amazing waterfall! Well worth the effort to get there! Glad the weather cooperated a little bit for you both, definitely makes hiking a little more enjoyable - did sound a bit windy though. The goats were adorable. I think I would have spent my whole day with them! Fantastic video my friend, really enjoyed the look around! Hope you both are doing well, can't wait for the next installment! Take care pal!
No need to apologise Paul and thanks for watching ! Life is busy !! Loved the hike and if it had been warmer (and not so windy!) I might have had a dip (but that's for another video!) We almost went straight home but decided to take the route through Galloway anyway and glad we did as it dried up enough for the walk and we got to see the goats, the monument and the falls. Good luck with the DIY and catch up soon :)
NIce wander Andrew. The waterfall was very pretty, did you take the Nikon or is that on the list for the next visit?
Thanks for watching Andy - I had all my gear with me but being a “family” walk it left no time for photography per se ! Maybe next time indeed 👍🏻
@@Escaping_Real1ty Sounds very familiar Andrew. We visited some falls in Cornwall on Sunday and I felt the pressure not to spend too long taking photos when in reality I could have spent all afternoon playing with compositions.
@OutandaboutwithAndy all about getting the balance right 👍🏻
