Embo makes sense as a villain. Mando going up against a bounty hunter makes sense. Embo is a cool existing character that doesn't have a ton of backstory you need to know.
Yes, I think thats exactly it. He's not like Sabine in Ashoka S1 where you basically have this whole integral history and several character arcs that happened in animation shows most people have never seen that reflect what's happening in live action. He's a bounty hunter, he's got cool abilities. That's pretty much all anyone needs to pick up on to get everything about him. I think the rumours that his role will be comparable to Jango in AotC are probably true. He's hired to take out Rota and therefore is in direct opposition to Mando rather than it being personal. A main character, an antagonist more than a pure villain, but still working for the villains for a fee rather than due to being evil himself and not the exclusive "big bad" of the story.
Regarding Ahsoka S2, I initially hoped with the addition of McGregor and the return of Greenblatt and Christensen we’d see some full on parallel story telling where we’d get an unseen clone wars story with Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka that parallels the story of adult Ahsoka and Sabine, but now I think what we’ll get are flashbacks to their visit to Mortis from the clone wars arc, told in live action, to provide context and background for Ahsoka and Sabine & Baylan and Shin’s journey into Mortis via Peridia. Re: McCann as Baylan I hope they just show him in the role and move on and don’t feel the need to explain why Baylan looks different. Just a “this is Baylan,” and move on. It really sucks that Stevenson passed but I think the audience will just accept that this is a new actor playing the character, and won’t require some in-universe rationale for why he looks different. Great show again, gentlemen!!
The only thing that I will say in Muschietti’s defense, is that in the actual interview he doesn’t have a bitter tone when making those comments (also the translations have been spot on). Granted he did seem unwilling/slightly standoffish about admitting that there was anything wrong with the movie itself, when making the quadrants comment he had a tone of, “It just didn’t work for this group, but such is life.” If anything he just sounded a little drunk the entire time.

I don’t think they should adapt the Assassin’s Creed games directly. Stripping out the gameplay and just retelling the same story does not interest me nor would it necessarily even be that good. Much better to do what Fallout did.
Blaming the character instead of the quality of your own film is just wild. On top of being a part of film series that was wildly inconsistent and rushed, your lead actor was a nutjob and the actual film wasn't very good. Keep Andy Muschietti far away from Batman and all future DC projects.

A few thoughts re. the Embo scoop... Firstly good news...before I even came to watch todays stream I saw your scoop being reported (crediting you!) promoted to me on twitter from SW news accounts I dont even follow. The bad news... they are all saying you reported Embo is going to be THE villain, the "big bad" of the movie, not just A villain. So lots of people who dont know the show and dont know your track record are sadly shouting it down sayinf "obviously the Inperial remnant is the villain". BespinBulletin reported shortly after you broke this story (crediting your scoop and saying they were a fan of your work in general) they had their own sources and were going to run this as a story but you outscooped them. What they reported was that their own sources were saying Embo is going to be hired to kill Rota whilst Mando is hired to save him. So Embo wouldnt he the villain in a "big bad" sense, hed have a role more like maybe Jango Fett did in Ep.2 where hes the hired bounty hunter warrior who they face off against as hes got a professional reason to oppose them. If thats true it would be consistent with his "grey" morality from the Clone Wars where he ruthlessly bounty hunts sometimes but lives a more moral life on other occaisions. As for how I feel about having Embo in the film, yeah, fine by me, hes an interesting character BUT I have two worries. Firstly I think they did Cad Bane dirty when they made him live action, he looked nothing like animation in the face so I hope Embo doesnt look weird. Secondly I think its ok to have elements of a "low stakes" story drive the plot but there has to be some grander scale elements of the film just to keep the future of Star Wars alive. Im not sure how audiences would feel if they got what felt more like an extended TV episode than one of the Saga films in this film. The franchise is in a precarious spot which is why a story that is all low stakes (just about Rotas life and Mandos work and not the bigger galactic picture) would be a risky move at this precise moment in time.

If the Mando movie is about Ambo, I’m excited but also not. He’s a really cool bounty hunter that no one talks about enough. At the same time, not sure why that would be the plot of the movie unless it did have some big connection to the rest of the story around other characters. I guess it will just be its own thing.
I never thought I'd get to the point of absolute apathy when it comes to Star Wars. I've been obsessed with it my whole life and thought i'd be a Day 1 for any content they put out forever. Haven't even seen Skeleton Crew and don't plan to. Prob won't see Mando & Grogu either. Just don't care anymore. These stories and timelines are going nowhere
More in the industry need to take the Sonic approach... acknowledge the problem and try to fix it. Putting your head in the sand and blaming others is not the best course of action. Case in point, Fedè put out a statement saying that they weren't happy with the look of Rook (Ash) for the theatrical cut of Alien: Romulus (something many fans complained about) so they worked on fixing him for the streaming/physical release. Owning your failures and working to correct them is the best way forward. Doubling down on hate and trashing your fans will get you nowhere. 😂
I do think that Muschietti will end up not directing The Brave and the Bold, but will still be involved as a producer and with the script. I think Mike Flanagan would be a good choice to direct The Brave and the Bold, and I think there’s a chance it could be him due to his Clayface script being greenlit and loved by Gunn. I don’t think the Matt Reeves’ Batman will merge with the DCU due to Muschietti making it clear Reeves’ Batman is separate from DCU and with Gunn saying that The Brave and the Bold isn’t delayed. So far Gunn hasn’t said anything to indicate that Reeves’ Batman will be merged with his DCU, he has conveyed the opposite in interviews. I believe that WB might be pressuring Gunn to merge it since they want a Batman soon due to the recent success of The Penguin, but I don’t believe Reeves’ Batman will merge due to Gunn consistently saying that he loves the opportunity of doing Elseworlds.
I don't have much to add about most of the topics, but bringing Jurassic Park/World and Fast & Furious to TV as live-action shows would bode well for both franchises. It would also be good for Peacock. I don't know what the hell Rocha is talking about with there not being much meat left on the bone for F&F, though. There's a lot more they could do with that franchise. Various spin-offs have already been discussed for when the main movies wrap up, including an all-female film and a Hobbs & Shaw sequel. I don't know what characters we'll see in the show, but as long as it is live-action and in the same tone as the movies, I'm sure it'll kick ass. There's a Netflix series whose general premise is cool on paper, but it's ruined by making it animated and aimed at little kids, which is a very bizarre choice. This franchise isn't meant for that. It makes no sense. And don't feel guilty about what happened with your Guardians reaction with Sam. Shit happens. Technology sucks sometimes.
Strangely enough, the makeover they gave Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump for The Apprentice movie convinced me that he could work as a recast for Luke Skywalker. Ditch all the complex, and maybe expensive, de-aging tech for Mark Hamill and his body double, and employee a good actor that isn't going to glitch on you.
Do an Assassin Creed series with Miles as the lead Adapting the 1st few games with added stuff to the modern day storyline and that's 4 seasons easily. The Ezio trilogy is still beloved by fans and we could get a better ending with him then the games gave him and the Isu storyline.
In the context of an adaptation is is necessary to have the modern day story line? Perhaps there is a way to adapt the Isu interactions with Ezio re. Desmond to remove references to what was going on with Desmond in the modern day and just make it about Ezio doing what he needs to do in his time to stop the templars and discovering more about the history of the assassin's and the pieces of Eden in the process. I always felt the compelling story was the Ezio story and I feel audiences would connect with it so much better if that was the sole focus and we never went to the modern day, we just live the story through his/ Altiar etc eyes. The only thing I'd have again a faithful adaptation of their stories is that Ezio was so brilliantly played by his voice actor and had such a nice character design in AC2 I could not imagine anyone else in the role if they looked or sounded slightly different.
Ezra Miller’s name isn’t even a household name for his story to have been mainstream like that. A lot of young people knew about it in general because they all follow any Hollywood story in that vein but his name wasn’t ringing bells like that. I know people who specifically do not watch DC movies. They make a point of not being lured into that world at all so I’m sure that didn’t help the numbers.
Every piece of news that comes out about the Mando movie makes me less and less excited for it. I don't want a Clone Wars episode turned into a movie...enough of Filoni and his cartoon shit!

I think that in this current environment that the next star wars movie, the first movie in years, being essentially just a tv episode is insanity. The average audience goer prolly has little or no interest in sw at this point and streaming (not to mention cost) has changed expectations/behaviour concerning consumption. I really can't see m&g doing well at all.
I think I will reserve judgement until we see the trailer. As I mentioned to someone else in a reply in this comment section all the reporting about the characters and plot make it seem like a big TV show episode...that's not going to be gripping for casual fans. It won't be a recipe for box office boom. But I still remember the three seconds of leaked footage last year featuring snow troopers and it looked like they'd literally filmed it for one of the OT. Just everything about those few seconds looked like a proper SW film (much in the way Rougue One did). So if it is like Rougue One (a slower more personal story involving Mando, Rota and Embo to begin with in the same Jyns story was more personal at the start of R1, but leading up to bigger galactic conflict as the film goes on) I think it could perform similar to R1. If it's just a TV episode all the way through...its bad news. I think a lot will also depend on the aesthetics. If it looks and feels like its done on the cheap, like its all made in the volume, that's a quick death knell for any chances of major success.
muschietti crapping on the flash is pretty bad too, he's lowering the stock of the character and killing any potential momentum to revive him any time soon
You’re reaching. Despite his comments, which aren’t even bad (just head shake worthy), Flash had a 9 season run on network television even with the mess that was the Snyderverse happening (which actually could/should have devalued the character in general-public opinion)
Peacock (Universal) needs to dig deep for some IP. Jurassic World, Fast & Furious are good starts but there just isn't enough there. If I was running things I would be trying to merge Peacock with Paramount to make a stronger overall product and deep portfolio of IP. If not Merger maybe a package deal & producing partnership. Re-boot the G.I Joe movies and treat them seriously. More D&D movies & a animated series. Waterworld (Kevin Costner) Series. Give us a "God Father" TV series, a live action "Naruto" series or movie, Far Cry TV series, Battlestar Galactica NEW series, Twilight TV series, Street Fighter TV Series. More Mario. A NEW Transformers Animated series. More Avatar Last Airbender. Make a live action Zelda movie, make a Splinter Cell movie, make a Robotech movie. That plus Star Trek & Yellowstone-verse and both of their animated divisions (Dreamworks, Nickelodeon) you actually have a S-tier streaming service that can compete.

I liked Conclave but was missing something, I was thinking it was going to reveal that the former Pope organised everything to make sure his pick for the next Pope happened. Which would have been interesting with some of the things that happened in the film.
I couldn’t care less about that Mandalorian & Grogu movie. The more I hear about it the less I believe Kristian’s prediction about Favreau making it feel like the OG trilogy. I bet it feels more prequel/mando season 3. Prepare for that day time soap opera lighting, staging, and writing.
That's interesting because on the basis of all the reporting I'd feel the same way about how it will look and feel as a movie. But I cant shake the mental image of the few seconds of leaked footage from (Celebration/ComicCon?) I saw last year where they were just in a shoot out with some snow troopers and it looked EXACTLY like the OT, even the way the actors in the snow trooper costumes were moving around in the scene. So until we get a trailer I've got this weird dissonance between that physical image and everything that suggests a TV show aesthetic like you've just described. I guess we will find out in time.
I'll be absolutely shocked at this point if Andy Muschietti directs Batman: Brave and the Bold. This movie is just as important to the new DCU as Superman. I would prefer if James Gunn writes and directs the movie himself. Or at least write and let a more talented director helm the movie. Let Muschietti direct Booster Gold or something like that.
Kids don't give an Eff about Star wars anymore, the audience runs older, and their tastes in narrative a tad more sophisticated than Lucasfilm would like to admit. Andor is the only show from SW worth looking forward to. Skeleton Crew is quite flat, and has about as much edge as a cup of cottage cheese. IMHO of course....
It all comes down the budgets tho surely? If you can make Skeleton Crew type live actions shows at the right price, if you can make Bad Batch type animation shows at the right price for the viewership they bring in its not harmful if they don't have edge and if they don't appeal to every audience. For the same reasons when you are flashing the cash you need your live action TV to either have Andor type edge and quality, or Mando S1 type "four quadrant" appeal. I've got no problem with them making serviceable but not groundbreaking SW (like Skeleton Crew type shows) alongside higher quality content so long as it a. Doesn't hurt the lore / brand b. Isn't the exclusive type of content they are making c. Has some purpose or audience in mind and d. Is made at a price which reflects its likely viewership. For me it only harms my enjoyment of the "good stuff" if its being made at their expense or if it's damaging the lore and tone of the universe or the brand by being so poor quality writting. Film wise Rougue One is a good example. It didn't have edge, not like Andor has, it wasn't as sophisticated writting either. It was suitable for all audiences. And yeah the start was a little slow paced but wow those final 45 mins were proper star wars on the big screen the likes of which wed not seen since the originals. And it's remained popular with casual fans ever since. So if you make enough quality productions, its ok to have side projects so long as they are at the right price.

I just rewatched the flash yesterday. I really enjoyed the movie. Its propably one of the better DC movies. Jampacked but enjoyable.

A few thoughts re. the Embo scoop...
Firstly good news...before I even came to watch todays stream I saw your scoop being reported (crediting you!) promoted to me on twitter from SW news accounts I dont even follow. The bad news... they are all saying you reported Embo is going to be THE villain, the "big bad" of the movie, not just A villain. So lots of people who dont know the show and dont know your track record are sadly shouting it down sayinf "obviously the Inperial remnant is the villain".
BespinBulletin reported shortly after you broke this story (crediting your scoop and saying they were a fan of your work in general) they had their own sources and were going to run this as a story but you outscooped them.
What they reported was that their own sources were saying Embo is going to be hired to kill Rota whilst Mando is hired to save him. So Embo wouldnt he the villain in a "big bad" sense, hed have a role more like maybe Jango Fett did in Ep.2 where hes the hired bounty hunter warrior who they face off against as hes got a professional reason to oppose them. If thats true it would be consistent with his "grey" morality from the Clone Wars where he ruthlessly bounty hunts sometimes but lives a more moral life on other occaisions.
As for how I feel about having Embo in the film, yeah, fine by me, hes an interesting character BUT I have two worries. Firstly I think they did Cad Bane dirty when they made him live action, he looked nothing like animation in the face so I hope Embo doesnt look weird.
Secondly I think its ok to have elements of a "low stakes" story drive the plot but there has to be some grander scale elements of the film just to keep the future of Star Wars alive. Im not sure how audiences would feel if they got what felt more like an extended TV episode than one of the Saga films in this film.
The franchise is in a precarious spot which is why a story that is all low stakes (just about Rotas life and Mandos work and not the bigger galactic picture) would be a risky move at this precise moment in time.
It sounds to me like that is the main story, while b and c subplots will be what's going on all around the galaxy, tie-ins with Ashoka, and the rebels

If the Mando movie is about Ambo, I’m excited but also not. He’s a really cool bounty hunter that no one talks about enough. I never thought I'd get to the point of absolute apathy when it comes to Star Wars. I've been obsessed with it my whole life and thought i'd be a Day 1 for any content they put out forever. Haven't even seen Skeleton Crew and don't plan to. Prob won't see Mando & Grogu either. Just don't care anymore. These stories and timelines are going nowhere
More in the industry need to take the Sonic approach... acknowledge the problem and try to fix it. Putting your head in the sand and blaming others is not the best course of action.
Case in point, Fedè put out a statement saying that they weren't happy with the look of Rook (Ash) for the theatrical cut of Alien: Romulus (something many fans complained about) so they worked on fixing him for the streaming/physical release.
Owning your failures and working to correct them is the best way forward.

I do think that Muschietti will end up not directing The Brave and the Bold, but will still be involved as a producer and with the script. I think Mike Flanagan would be a good choice to direct The Brave and the Bold, and I think there’s a chance it could be him due to his Clayface script being greenlit and loved by Gunn. I don’t think the Matt Reeves’ Batman will merge with the DCU due to Muschietti making it clear Reeves’ Batman is separate from DCU and with Gunn saying that The Brave and the Bold isn’t delayed. So far Gunn hasn’t said anything to indicate that Reeves’ Batman will be merged with his DCU, he has conveyed the opposite in interviews. I believe that WB might be pressuring Gunn to merge it since they want a Batman soon due to the recent success of The Penguin, but I don’t believe Reeves’ Batman will merge due to Gunn consistently saying that he loves the opportunity of doing Elseworlds.
I don't have much to add about most of the topics, but bringing Jurassic Park/World and Fast & Furious to TV as live-action shows would bode well for both franchises. It would also be good for Peacock. I don't know what the hell Rocha is talking about with there not being much meat left on the bone for F&F, though. There's a lot more they could do with that franchise. Various spin-offs have already been discussed for when the main movies wrap up, including an all-female film and a Hobbs & Shaw sequel. I don't know what characters we'll see in the show, but as long as it is live-action and in the same tone as the movies, I'm sure it'll kick ass. There's a Netflix series whose general premise is cool on paper, but it's ruined by making it animated and aimed at little kids, which is a very bizarre choice. This franchise isn't meant for that. It makes no sense. And don't feel guilty about what happened with your Guardians reaction with Sam. Shit happens. Technology sucks sometimes.

Do an Assassin Creed series with Miles as the lead Adapting the 1st few games with added stuff to the modern day storyline and that's 4 seasons easily. The Ezio trilogy is still beloved by fans and we could get a better ending with him then the games gave him and the Isu storyline.
In the context of an adaptation is is necessary to have the modern day story line? Perhaps there is a way to adapt the Isu interactions with Ezio re. Desmond to remove references to what was going on with Desmond in the modern day and just make it about Ezio doing what he needs to do in his time to stop the templars and discovering more about the history of the assassin's and the pieces of Eden in the process.
I always felt the compelling story was the Ezio story and I feel audiences would connect with it so much better if that was the sole focus and we never went to the modern day, we just live the story through his/ Altiar etc eyes.
The only thing I'd have again a faithful adaptation of their stories is that Ezio was so brilliantly played by his voice actor and had such a nice character design in AC2 I could not imagine anyone else in the role if they looked or sounded slightly different.
Ezra Miller’s name isn’t even a household name for his story to have been mainstream like that. A lot of young people knew about it in general because they all follow any Hollywood story in that vein but his name wasn’t ringing bells like that.
I know people who specifically do not watch DC movies. They make a point of not being lured into that world at all so I’m sure that didn’t help the numbers.

I think that in this current environment that the next star wars movie, the first movie in years, being essentially just a tv episode is insanity. The average audience goer prolly has little or no interest in sw at this point and streaming (not to mention cost) has changed expectations/behaviour concerning consumption. I really can't see m&g doing well at all.
I think I will reserve judgement until we see the trailer.
As I mentioned to someone else in a reply in this comment section all the reporting about the characters and plot make it seem like a big TV show episode...that's not going to be gripping for casual fans. It won't be a recipe for box office boom. But I still remember the three seconds of leaked footage last year featuring snow troopers and it looked like they'd literally filmed it for one of the OT.
Just everything about those few seconds looked like a proper SW film (much in the way Rougue One did).
So if it is like Rougue One (a slower more personal story involving Mando, Rota and Embo to begin with in the same Jyns story was more personal at the start of R1, but leading up to bigger galactic conflict as the film goes on) I think it could perform similar to R1. If it's just a TV episode all the way through...its bad news.
I think a lot will also depend on the aesthetics. If it looks and feels like its done on the cheap, like its all made in the volume, that's a quick death knell for any chances of major success.

Peacock (Universal) needs to dig deep for some IP. Jurassic World, Fast & Furious are good starts but there just isn't enough there. If I was running things I would be trying to merge Peacock with Paramount to make a stronger overall product and deep portfolio of IP. If not Merger maybe a package deal & producing partnership. Re-boot the G.I Joe movies and treat them seriously. More D&D movies & a animated series. Waterworld (Kevin Costner) Series. Give us a "God Father" TV series, a live action "Naruto" series or movie, Far Cry TV series, Battlestar Galactica NEW series, Twilight TV series, Street Fighter TV Series. More Mario. A NEW Transformers Animated series. More Avatar Last Airbender. Make a live action Zelda movie, make a Splinter Cell movie, make a Robotech movie. That plus Star Trek & Yellowstone-verse and both of their animated divisions (Dreamworks, Nickelodeon) you actually have a S-tier streaming service that can compete.
We don't need another Matrix movie. Let sleeping simulations lie.

I liked Conclave but was missing something, I was thinking it was going to reveal that the former Pope organised everything to make sure his pick for the next Pope happened. Which would have been interesting with some of the things that happened in the film.
I couldn’t care less about that Mandalorian & Grogu movie. The more I hear about it the less I believe Kristian’s prediction about Favreau making it feel like the OG trilogy. I bet it feels more prequel/mando season 3. Prepare for that day time soap opera lighting, staging, and writing.
That's interesting because on the basis of all the reporting I'd feel the same way about how it will look and feel as a movie.
But I cant shake the mental image of the few seconds of leaked footage from (Celebration/ComicCon?) I saw last year where they were just in a shoot out with some snow troopers and it looked EXACTLY like the OT, even the way the actors in the snow trooper costumes were moving around in the scene.
So until we get a trailer I've got this weird dissonance between that physical image and everything that suggests a TV show aesthetic like you've just described.
I guess we will find out in time.

I'll be absolutely shocked at this point if Andy Muschietti directs Batman: Brave and the Bold. This movie is just as important to the new DCU as Superman. I would prefer if James Gunn writes and directs the movie himself. Or at least write and let a more talented director helm the movie. Let Muschietti direct Booster Gold or something like that.
Kids don't give an Eff about Star wars anymore, the audience runs older, and their tastes in narrative a tad more sophisticated than Lucasfilm would like to admit. Andor is the only show from SW worth looking forward to. Skeleton Crew is quite flat, and has about as much edge as a cup of cottage cheese. IMHO of course....
It all comes down the budgets tho surely?
If you can make Skeleton Crew type live actions shows at the right price, if you can make Bad Batch type animation shows at the right price for the viewership they bring in its not harmful if they don't have edge and if they don't appeal to every audience.
For the same reasons when you are flashing the cash you need your live action TV to either have Andor type edge and quality, or Mando S1 type "four quadrant" appeal.
I've got no problem with them making serviceable but not groundbreaking SW (like Skeleton Crew type shows) alongside higher quality content so long as it a. Doesn't hurt the lore / brand b. Isn't the exclusive type of content they are making c. Has some purpose or audience in mind and d. Is made at a price which reflects its likely viewership.
For me it only harms my enjoyment of the "good stuff" if its being made at their expense or if it's damaging the lore and tone of the universe or the brand by being so poor quality writting.
Film wise Rougue One is a good example. It didn't have edge, not like Andor has, it wasn't as sophisticated writting either. It was suitable for all audiences. And yeah the start was a little slow paced but wow those final 45 mins were proper star wars on the big screen the likes of which wed not seen since the originals. And it's remained popular with casual fans ever since.
So if you make enough quality productions, its ok to have side projects so long as they are at the right price.
