2:45 this part right here is very too my childhood. The 2000s generation, I was born in 1992, I thought the world was always as is. We had history, the present as always and the future looking too. But this part here is a glimpse of what childhood is, you see Pewdiepie tear at this part if you look carefully. It hit me last year of this, repeating it just how symbolic and genuine it was. It's metaphor. But also the current state then of the 2000s, technology, pokemon, dogimon, kids shows, cartoon network, sky channel. Football. Playstation, gameboy, phones. Trends, school, all that stuff. I left school in 2009. Never thought it hit me like this, I played this game in 2002. As a kid it's full of wonder, but as an adult you see it more so.... its theme and message. A 14 year old, a teenager, full of wonder and curiosity. I love this game. If I could go back, I go too 2009 or 2008. I would put things right.
Dive to the heart tutorial hits different than any game. Ditto born the same year brother and i feel the same way. i would do anything to go back in time, but if i couldnt go back to the late 90s or early 2000s id settle with 2008 and 2009 also. its a dam shame nothing can replicate the past. no amount of tech or ai can make up for what used to be our life. pokemon digimon ps1 ps2 gamecube dragonball z yugioh toonami nickelodeon Dam
I think it's how it's done and the theme gives off that technological theme background that too me represented the 2000s and our generation. I was 10 when this came out.
I remember getting this game when the ps2 came out. My dad and older brother brought it home from toys r us and I was playing my n64 and i legit thought it was a dream when i plugged it in and watched this opening scene for the first time. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen at the time mind blowing graphics. Pure nostalgia. This game will always have a place in my memory and in my 💜
I just started playing Kingdom Hearts since i never could growing up, and watching this was incredible, it felt like a throwback even though id never seen it
The fact I got into KH at the age of 8/9 and now I’m 23 and THIS STILL HITS HARD! AINT NOTHING CHANGED. God what I would do to go back and play this for the first time again!
I'll never forget when my former best friend, a guy, gave me a necklace that was made to look like Sora's keyblade but heart shaped. I wasn't used to receiving random gifts but damn if that didn't touch my heart.
In September 2002 I was 15 and this intro was hype. I totally loved this song immediately. I remember spending a lot of hours customizing that space ship thing in Kingdom Hearts.
2002 was an amazing year of my childhood. Kingdom Hearts was the first game I ever played on my PS2 and was immediately addicted! Absolutely love this beautiful game series. It’s so dreamy, emotional and EPIC! ❤
Remember seeing these graphics as a kid? What was it 20 years ago. Even as a cutscene/intro, graphics are amazing. These games hold a special place in my ❤️.
Thanks to sora being added to smash bro I finally realized that sora doesn’t wear pants/shorts in his kh1 outfit. It’s just a onesie with a jacket over it and a belt that does absolutely nothing
Simply perfect. This is my favorite game introduction of all time. Like, the idea of it possibly starting in a dream, with the main character falling from the sky. Then to having him facing a wave, instilling his sense of doubt and fear of the unknown. The wave is a metaphor. He gets pushed back, but emerges from the water okay. He walks over to his friend under a beautiful sunset, and in the next moment she looks up at the sky, to which he turn and sees himself falling amongst a meteor shower. Next thing he's actually falling, and his friend is reaching out. But she can't save him. He submerges under the water again, lost in a dream. I can't think of a movie that has that much emotional weight in such a short time, with incredible music and metaphor.
I personally believe the voice that’s talking to Sora in the beginning in the Dive into Heart is Ventus. Like he spoke of opening the door as did Sora did with him. He’s in a way training Sora so he’ll be ready to soon receive the keyblade. Also those princesses we she the hearts for, are princesses Ventus has met. Sure Riku was supposed to receive his from Terra. But I’m certain Sora got his too, from Ventus.
I don't know why, but I keep returning to this world every couple of years. Ever since discovering this as a kid in the early 2000's, I have been growing up and taking more adult responsibilities. Now at 26, I'm at this weird stage in my life where I just feel the need to desperately return to this world again. Sometimes my fascination for Kingdom Hearts is just gone, but somehow I keep coming back to it. It's so fascinating and so multilayered. Sure, you can follow the simple story, but there is so much more to it.
Same here my dude. Same with games like Zelda. This game holds a special place in my heart I’ll never forget my mom buying it for my Easter present. Been hooked since.
I like how this game came out the same year I was born, almost like I was destined to love it, then all those years later as I got older I discovered this series then finally played it and fell in love with it, now I watched kingdom hearts series turn 20 as I turn 20 as well this fall, god it’s been a ride hasn’t it? To think ever since I’ve existed kingdom hearts has been around and is still beloved 20 years later, now here I wait eagerly for kingdom hearts 4
I screwed up my disk by repetitively reseting the console just to hear the intro over and over again 😅 Worth it though, since that was before youtube existed
Yeah it really is cheesy, and corny, I’m mainly talking about the opening, though i adore it, and there’s no shame FF10, KH1, and 2, are some of the best of the best PS2: games.
Soraiko this introduced is very nostalgic and good heart warming tone and also when sora is Falling feels like he's tripping balls and high I mean seriously this is the most bestest intro
I don’t know exactly how old I was, I think like five years of age, and I watch this for the first time ever in my life. I was mesmerized by the music score and gorgeous visual fidelity. I was in another world free of malice and discontent, my curious mind was free to wonder without prejudice. The world was an easy place not filled with hate or the daily concerns of life, this brings me back to my childhood and I wish I could just live in this moment of life forever where I am free to be me and nothing else mattered. To be like Sora was a blessing that’s who I wanted to be, I wanted to fall from the sky and fall deep into the water like a dream, this was a dream I did not want to wake from. My imagination limitless and this new world to explore the world of Kingdom Hearts.
Wow I totally get what you mean. I mean I was 10 when this game came out. I mean I wanted to not be like sora but adventures with him. Has a good heart and mind. Knows little yet I like that. Hes very curious. I think that we Wong into 2016-2020 that was dark times, mentally. I was in my house most of the time and seeing what was going on. Crazy stuff. But what I did in 2020 is I went back too my playstation 2. And last year played kingdom hearts, very magical, mysterious. Especially the end if the world level and its theme. I was drinking my queens jubilee 2002 primary school cup. And listening too the theme in my room. Just reminded me of the times. I still love the game ever more now.
Literally watching this makes my heart pound 😢 I remember the memories of playing this for the very first time and how excited I was. Watching this is like a time capsule that took me back to that very moment and wow man crazy how fast life just slipped by 😢

holy shit the nostalgia I feel my heartbreaking bro I miss kingdom hearts so much I can still remember almost all the soundtracks. The animation looked so good for its time too 😭💔
POV: It's 2002-2004. Game critics and friends alike have told you a game has dropped that has both Cloud Strife and Donald Duck. You scoff and buy it thinking it must be a hilarious joke. You boot it up expecting very little. This high budget animation slaps you in the face as you realize this game is going to be so much more.
i remember 2:08 giving me insane chills as a kid. such a mysteriously cool concept, to see yourself falling through the sky, then you fall through the ground. so proud to have been apart of this game growing up.

Sora's pose being transfigured to match his dream of falling through the sky, head first, whilst panicking and reaching out for Kairi helplessly perfectly juxtaposed the calm initial scene that he dreamed about. Very elequent symbolism, portraying the moment when what once seemed like a nightmare is a drastically better scenario then the reality of the situation at hand. The dive to the heart sequence plays out in such a chilling manner without implicitly stating the trials ahead, but affirming that indeed this is the last chance for Sora to bolster his heart in wake of what's to come. Excellent editing of the song to emphasize the visuals, cutting away the majority of contextual lyrics to focus on the emotional rollercoaster, unknowingly playing out before us. The level of expression detailed in this opening from 2001, surpassing the entirety of post PS2-era games combined. Sora, carefree and somewhat clumsy and uneasy but nonetheless determined in the moment. Kairi, cheerful and caring, even loving, in the innocent genuine fashion exclusive to young children. Finally, Riku stoicly showing no fear, and facing danger head on, with the hint of morbid curiosity in his gaze. This was and still is an absolutely incredible feat by SquareSoft.(Not, Square Enix.) To literally set the bar for so many games regardless of genre, and in 2001 no less, immediately after their first game to ever feature voice actors (FFẊ) to nail one of the most ambitious concepts ever as far as gaming is concerned. Truly, a timeless classic, that will enchant future generations for years to come.
This is forever my all time favorite opening and song in all video games for me.😍🥰 Everything is perfect in this, I remember seeing it for the first time back in mid 2000s on PS2 and I was very fascinated by this beautiful opening, that no other game has, perfection!!!😍🥰

Ditto born the same year brother and i feel the same way. i would do anything to go back in time, but if i couldnt go back to the late 90s or early 2000s id settle with 2008 and 2009 also. its a dam shame nothing can replicate the past. no amount of tech or ai can make up for what used to be our life. pokemon digimon
ps1 ps2 gamecube dragonball z yugioh toonami nickelodeon Dam
i remember seeing this as a kid and thinking that these were the best graphics of all time. they still hold up pretty well tbh
I think it's how it's done and the theme gives off that technological theme background that too me represented the 2000s and our generation. I was 10 when this came out.
Such a good time like this honestly reminds me of a simple happy time in my life
Here's hoping for many more to come!
@@retromixel thank u 🙏🏾 same to u
I remember getting this game when the ps2 came out. My dad and older brother brought it home from toys r us and I was playing my n64 and i legit thought it was a dream when i plugged it in and watched this opening scene for the first time. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen at the time mind blowing graphics. Pure nostalgia. This game will always have a place in my memory and in my 💜
I just started playing Kingdom Hearts since i never could growing up, and watching this was incredible, it felt like a throwback even though id never seen it
Just started KH3 and I still compare every single one of the games openings to this, nothing can beat this
The fact I got into KH at the age of 8/9 and now I’m 23 and THIS STILL HITS HARD! AINT NOTHING CHANGED. God what I would do to go back and play this for the first time again!
I have the first game, and you uploaded it so well, that I cant really tell.
I'll never forget when my former best friend, a guy, gave me a necklace that was made to look like Sora's keyblade but heart shaped. I wasn't used to receiving random gifts but damn if that didn't touch my heart.
1 year ago Former best friend ❤
RIP Brother
I want to know more, you got my curiosity piqued!
This is the dopest opening sequence to any video game
I remember when i first saw the Kingdom Hearts 1 opening as a kid. I was confused, intrigued, and mystified all at the same time
Simply perfect.
I RESTARTED my file SO MANY TIMES when this very first came out JUST so I could listen to this song again and again!
I'll never forget the moment my brother showed me these games. Never going back ❤️
Sora finally made it to smash, now it’s the moment for him to shine!
Honestly, I wish it was Ventus, but Nomura confirmed it’s Mickey in an interview back in the day.
Came to enjoy this old opening now that Sora is in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
me too
Me too
I don't know why, but I keep returning to this world every couple of years.
Simple story?
@@KE-yq2eg It's not rocket science, just some friends getting lost, defeating a bazillion heartless and xehanort's.
I like how this game came out the same year I was born, almost like I was destined to love it, then all those years later as I got older I discovered this series then finally played it and fell in love with it, now I watched kingdom hearts series turn 20 as I turn 20 as well this fall, god it’s been a ride hasn’t it? To think ever since I’ve existed kingdom hearts has been around and is still beloved 20 years later, now here I wait eagerly for kingdom hearts 4
they went so hard on the intros, i only played the game a couple times, but the aura of these intros kingdom of hearts put out are golden.
I screwed up my disk by repetitively reseting the console just to hear the intro over and over again 😅
Worth it though, since that was before youtube existed
This song is still a banger years later.
It makes me cry and miss my childhood
Nostalgia at its purest state
I always get told it's corny but this was and still is my favorite PS2/vid game I went and named my first born daughter Kairi 😅😍
Honestly at times it is but I think that’s what makes it charming, and nice name choice my man
Yeah it really is cheesy, and corny, I’m mainly talking about the opening, though i adore it, and there’s no shame FF10, KH1, and 2, are some of the best of the best PS2: games.
It's a pretty name
A beautiful and strong name.
My Niece is also named Kairi! Her parents were big Kingdom Hearts fans. Lol
This was the coolest thing growing up
Soraiko this introduced is very nostalgic and good heart warming tone and also when sora is Falling feels like he's tripping balls and high I mean seriously this is the most bestest intro
I still love the game ever more now.
imagine having the chance to relive this as a kid for the first time again
When they asked you what you fear the most, I chose, "Growing old."
Man. Damn. The feels.
Literally watching this makes my heart pound 😢 I remember the memories of playing this for the very first time and how excited I was. Watching this is like a time capsule that took me back to that very moment and wow man crazy how fast life just slipped by 😢
Thank you very much for uploading this. The audio may not be perfect, but at least it doesn't have an annoying RUclipsr watermark on images they didn't even create.
I remember being in highschool and my friend rented this game from Blockbuster and came over to my house. We stayed up all night playing it. Freaking miss those times. The early 2000s was the best!!!
I just started my 1st real experience with kingdom hearts and tho I’m not far in the story just finished the jungle planet I gotta say I never really got into ff games but this game has changed my mind I love it I love the nostalgia that I never realized I missed this is just the beginning of something great !
I promise you you couldn't watch TV back in the day without seeing a commercial for this game remember going to Walmart and my oldest brother picked this out as a birthday if you had ps2 around this time you had it made pretty much 😂😂 coming home with a new game very satisfying ❤❤
Yeah this game had the largest tv advertisement budget of any game I can think of. It was literally every third commercial. You may not have bought the game, but you HAD heard of it
Man..how i miss that time..
Thanks everyone here who played this Masterpiece
I get what sora says in the beginning now that I'm older, SHROOMS
Still playing the Final Mix right now. To be honest, this game has something that is much special than other games, and I think it captured my heart.
Of course it has it's Kingdom Hearts
holy shit the nostalgia I feel my heartbreaking bro I miss kingdom hearts so much I can still remember almost all the soundtracks. The animation looked so good for its time too 😭💔
This game is truly a masterpiece , still need to platinum it so I’m definitely coming back to it.
The first time I experienced this, I didn't realize this was the opening so this was a pretty awkward trip for me
It’s pretty trippy though.
They need to bring back this song or this music style to Kingdom Hearts 4 intro and outro
Watching this one last time while waiting for the Smash update to finish
i remember 2:08 giving me insane chills as a kid. such a mysteriously cool concept, to see yourself falling through the sky, then you fall through the ground. so proud to have been apart of this game growing up.
I started playing Kingdom Hearts for the first time and the first thing it hits me with is this banger of an intro song.
Needless to say…
*HOOOOOLD ME, WHATEVER LIES BEYOND THIS MOOOORNING* 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔊🔊🗣️🔊🗣️🗣️🔥‼️
Hell yeah 😎😎
2002. Big box tv. 7yrs old I remember this opening to this day. Little did I know of the years of waiting that was to come lmao best opening to a game ever made still the best one in the whole series
This opening is by far one of my favorites in video game history. My only regret is I never grew up with this series like so many others.
Long Live Kingdom Hearts. ^^
this is literally what made me a gamer haha
@@OptimusPrimarche Nice.
Dude this game was the only game that touched my heart ,like literally I went crazy when I was 12 years old with this .best game ever will play it again anytime
This is forever my all time favorite opening and song in all video games for me.😍🥰
Everything is perfect in this, I remember seeing it for the first time back in mid 2000s on PS2 and I was very fascinated by this beautiful opening, that no other game has, perfection!!!😍🥰
love this song.
Crazy thing is until that point I’ve never heard of kingdom hearts so I owe thanks to grandma for introducing me to this
Those of us replaying this on the PlayStation: I’ve seen this so many times can’t I just skip it.
Those of us replaying on Xbox or switch: I’m never skipping despite it being an option now
i’ve always loved kingdom hearts and i really love the music it’s always been my favorite game i just love everything about it.
Sanctuary slams as well. Low key rock that shit with headphones working in my auto shop.
I'm glad that when i was a kid i could enjoy this game, it holds a top spot in my heart
When I saw this for the first time, I closed the game and started again a new file, to experience this opening again
Oh my gosh, the opening foreshadowed Nomura’s intentions for KHIV
HAPPY KH4 ANNOUNCEMENT GUYS
Man… here I am 15 years later thinking “this is a time when games were consistently good.” This was so impactful on me as a kid. Much like you all, I could play this game today and still enjoy it (probably not as much as the first time I played it) and still be taken back to the time I had to beat Sephiroth for the first time. That dude was a the ultimate test of patience and grit. Translated well into my adult life thankfully 😅
Thank you to the creator of this game for shaping me into who I am today
Damn 2002 sure feels old right about now I remember when those days once felt new.
This opening theme song of Kingdom Hearts seems will haunt me for the rest of my life it never gets old after all these years really remembered the first time i played this game which was so confusing to understand the storyline becuz there wasn't any other game at the time of this type and it was a new concept this world and tht world stuff and so after this these type of games kept appearing who will forget chrono cross it was super confusing for my kid mind 😊😊
