    I’m glad I found this video, as I’m working with the same powders in search of a deer load for my grand daughter’s .243. I shot a .243 for many years and it killed everything I hit properly even at 2700 fps velocity. When you mentioned 4831SC I said to myself,
    “He’ll top out a bit over 2800 fps.” That was my experience also. You remind me of one of my old hunting buddies and I subscribed.

    Dave. Thanks another very good video. And with really great shooting. I was out today with my .308 and it looked like I was shooting a shotgun! Happy Father's Day and take care.

    Those groups, while not all are stellar, will get you your venison all day every day. With a magnum cap and some COAL tweaking, the W760 loads could be very impressive. That powder, while not adorned with modern accouterments such as a decoppering agent and temperature insensitivity, just seems to keep working well time after time. I thought the cops were after you there for awhile. Illegal Pulverization of Gravel. Haha, thanks Dave!

    Hi there Dave,
    I watched your video because I saw you were using the same combination of bullet and powder!
    I'm using the 90grn ELD-X and the H4350.
    Unlike you, I'm trying to shoot accuracy and not velocity.
    My rifle of choice is a Tikka T3X in 243Win with a set trigger.
    However I no longer use the chono like you have because I hunt with a suppressor
    and being strapped to the barrel it changes the harmonics.
    I now CHRONO with the shoot through type.
    My rounds averages 2900fps.
    At 100yds I group like your BOTTOM LEFT target.
    At 400yds I'm putting all three inside your outer ring on your target.
    This will improve when I start annealing my brass better (more consistant).
    I would be interested in seeing the ELD-X bullets with the different powders you have.
    Thank you for the video Dave.

    I watched one of your videos about the .243 Winchester and obsessing about getting 3000'+ velocity with 100 grain bullets. In it you showed some really small groups at 2800-2900fps a deer hit in the vitals can't tell the difference. Accuracy is king not velocity.

    Nice shooting and nice rig. I was wondering if the gun might not be completely broken in and might be speeding up depending on how many rounds you have put through. Keep up the good work. 2A💪

      Good question, because it is unknown how many rounds were shot in the rifle before I got it. Because I hand load, all speed is different with any change in powders, powder charges, and varying any components. Thanks for watching.

    Y'all running magnum primers with tha Win 760? I'm willing to bet that you could squeeze a bit more out of that Win 760 charge with that and some COAL tweeking. Otherwise, everything looks great!!! Good luck and stay safe!!! 😉😉😉

      No just standard primers. This rifle just seems to be on the slow side with the heavier weight for cartridge bullets. See my 243 playlist for previous results. Thanks for your comment here.

    All my 243's love 90 grain ballistic tips handloaded about 2/10's grains over max book loads with no pressure signs. Both my bolts are bedded and free floated. One has an hs prescion stock. Both have 1 1/4 pound triggers. Both my AR10s have 2.5 pound single stage triggers. They both the bolts will shoot .3" at 200 yards and the ARs best are both .3" at 100 yards with 55 and 60 grain bullets. With your wood stock and probably not bedded that's going to be the tightest your going to get it to shoot. If you glass bed it you should get it down to around .5" with a load it likes. I use to stick business cards between my barrel and stock back in the 90s before i bedded it. It would change POA and open up dependimg on how much pressure was created by the cards.

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  Год назад

      Thanks for your comments here. The rifle is bedded. Any anomaly is due to this preliminary test load development and shooter error.

      @@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 The way I would always test my guns is after ladder testing I would take the tightest grouping load and shoot it again after bedding to see if it shrunk or opened up. IMO that will tell you how good, or poor, the bedding job is. With glass bedding normally I can get it down to pretty consistent.5” at best. The only one that shoots tighter is my little 600 chambered in 243. Probably because the trigger is set a 1 1/4 pounds. If I want tighter my goto in years past we’re just bolting the gun to a HS prescion stock with extra glass bedding. Just plug and play.

    I wouldn't be accuracy testing with a device on my barrel. Keep accuracy testing separate from velocity testing if you are using a barrel mounted device.

      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  7 месяцев назад

      Asked and answered. The Magnetospeed is used to gather the numbers. But narrowly effects group size. (Over 5,000 rounds tested on many different cartridges.) However point of impact is affected with or without it on and a simple scope adjustment is in order after the final load development is determined.

      @@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 It's your choice but if you are looking for groups below .5MOA the barrel needs to free of anything that can change harmonics. If you are satisfied with MOA group size then it doesn't matter.
