Everything that I can find online about country kitchen states they closed in late 1997 or early 1998 so it has set empty for 20 years and the sign had a tarp on it that is why it's still in good shape.
Darn. I used to work at one. I can tell you that judging from the dining room layout, ceiling and the brick pass through window to the kitchen that this store was built in the late 1970's, when the company was still owned by the founder prior to its acquisition by the Carlson Companies. In the late 90's, it was acquired by a franchisee who relocated the corporate headquarters from Minnesota to Wisconsin. That store probably saw a remodel in the late 80's and a "face-lift" as far as the sign and dormers/trim in the 90's. I miss the place... Best pancakes literally anywhere. Skillet breakfasts, salad bar, all you can eat specials. We made our own soups, meatballs, Salisbury Steak, some deserts and our giant cinamon rolls and dinner rolls came from our local bakery. At one time that is. Eggs and milk were delivered fresh too, also at one time. Eventually almost everything came from a wholesale supplier like Kraft-American and Sysco. Our chicken for our all you can eat special came from a produce company and we breaded it ourselves... at one time as well. I really miss small town family restaurants. Post covid they are really hard to find and if they are open hours are limited and not late. The apple dumplings with cinamon ice cream were a treat as well. That and the homemade bread pudding are to this day my favorite desserts.
Country Kitchen was owned by Carlson Hospitality for a few years, who also owns Country Inns and Suites, hence the identical logo. I used to work at a Country Kitchen in Antigo Wisconsin.
We used to have a Country Kitchen just outside of Wooster on old US 30 not too far from the former Heck's Department Store. After it shut down, it didn't sit empty for very long before becoming a Fiore's Italian Restaurant. It's still going strong, even though traffic levels are down due to the road no longer being US 30. Nice find, and Happy New Year to you! 👍
I can't believe someone would gut the inside of this place like that, they even took out the signature copper hood that would've been over top of the window where the orders came out even the floor tiles and carpet. The long cement piece on the floor in front of the wall where the order window is would have a counter on it where the soda fountain, coffee pots, drink glasses, coffee cups serving trays etc. would be , heck they even took out the waitress station. I used to work at a Country Kitchen in Antigo Wisconsin which is one of only four left in the state. Too bad a Country Kitchen franchisee doesn't see this one and reopen this location, that would be cool. Great video.
I don't know about Indiana but there had to be several there. At one time they had 300+ stores. In my part of the country, five locations were within an hour or so drive. Maybe twenty stores left in the system now. A new one is opening in Texas. I miss resturants like these. Covid really made it tough. If their open now its with limited hours and not late.
The CK out beside Canton Centre Mall was my go to place before they shut it down, tore it down and put a circle k, the Bob Evens out on 62 by the Wal-Mart and old K Mart was also an CK can't remember if they tore the building down or remodeled
That Nate Guy On RUclips hmm never heard of Bob Evans before! You should come down here to N.C. and film the closing sears stores. So far 3 are on the move! After they’re gone then there will only be one sears left in the triangle!
Hey Guy ! It was nice temperature wise ! New Year's Eve! I'm a motorcyclist. If the weather is good , through the winter months even if it's only one day out of the month from October through April ! There is a pack ed , with the motorcyclist , to ride at least one day out of the month..for instance January if it's going up to 50 degrees one day they will ride. I know you didn't mean anything by I Your last exploration! I calling a motorcyclist an idiot!

This was a restaurant that was connected to a hotel franchise called Country Inn Hotels I think?
I love that there's a Denny's across the street and a Bob Evans next door!

Great minds think alike! Lol..
Gotcha. Thanks for the update..

That place is still in great shape to have been closed for 20 years
The Blue Fig restuarant in Alliance, OH is a former Country Kitchen.
That must have been a regional restaurant. I don't remember them being in Indiana

Happy New Year ! Guy......Nate !
Everything is ripped out of there. Been inside and it is empty.
Odd that the flag was at half staff? But, as always, great video.
They were mourning the death of Country Kitchen
Bob Evans next door had flag half staff for Bush 1 funeral when they were filming here🇺🇸
Flags were half staff between 12-1 and 12-31
A restaurant chain similar to Perkins that just simply died💀FYI the Dennys there used to be an LK restaurant.
after we filmed the car wash we ate at that Denny's lol it was delicious!!

@@cB-my5db And still is
If you can't get inside to do a walk-through, don't bother filming through windows, it doesn't have the same appeal
I thought it was a fake restaurant South Park Made up?
