Man these are my first pair of NBs I ordered a 12 since i wear 12 in everything else. Vans Adidas etc but they were way to big felt like there was an inch of space still in the toe. People are advising i go a half size down but idk if thats enough, shipping is 15 each way so if I get it wrong a second time ill be spending 75 just in shipping to get a 3rd pair Im US size 12 btw i noticed these are a UK 11.5 while vans US 12 are a UK 11 So maybe a half size will do the trick but a half size is a half cm and i feel like thats nothing. Did you notice a weird fit in the toe or need to size down compared to other brands?
I got the same size as you and I am beyond disappointed in them. Being that the 998 is my all time favorite New Balance, this is my 6th pair of them. These are way too slim, it’s like they’re 998s on a diet or something. The only good thing about these new ones is the Abzorb is much softer than my other pairs, but if it means a thinner midsole I’d take the original firmness. The firm Abzorb was never uncomfortable to me, but I’m glad I got them for $120 on sale. Had I paid $185 or whatever I’d be ticked off. The other upsetting part is I was finally hyped to get the black colorway that will be coming out, but with this new shape it’s an easy pass (unless they were like $60 or something). The Teddy Santis Grey Day pair was done way better than the GR 998s this time (even with the protruding heel).
before critisizing nb for „playing around“ with the 998 you should know that this is exactly like the 998 came out in the 90s. longer tongue, slimmer midsole, different heelshape… i got the originals to compare. and i prefer the originals much more to the wobbeling mess that nb released the last years without stability, with an ugly fat midsole and a heel section that makes you slip out all the time. of course its each to his own what you prefer. no offence, but it itches me to hear its disappointing when nb actually goes the extra mile and makes it true to the original. ✌️
That’s cool and all, but for most of us the retros are what we consider OGs and where most of us started. The 2010s era “fat” 998s are the only reason these are even relevant (look at the CNote release).
valid point too, can see it from different perspectives. i started wearing nb when they were pure performance stuff and not even available in my country at all, but i am not saying it makes my opinion more right just cause i wear them longer. i can say i am glad they took off in the 2010 fat era as you call it ;) otherwise there would be no retro of my OG now at all , cheers man @@jrdatrackstar
Hi! A bunch of people on forums advise taking the 998 half a size smaller. So the updated model goes tts now because it is slightly narrower? What do you think?
Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience with this 998. As I understood you have US 10 size? Can you please measure the insole of yours 998 in cm, one measurement from heel notch to end and second measurement from physical start till end of insole. I just want have understanding of how they would fit. I have a 27.5 cm foot. What size would you recommend US 9.5 or US 10.0? Thank you!
I agree the older pairs I think also had a smaller N logo which I think actually looked better/more unique. That dark green pair of 998s from a few years ago were super nice wish I had a pair of those.
they look real cheaply made, flimsy and not very cushioned. I own a pair of 2002r protection pack grey and are super comfy with good cushioning. i wear a 9.5 and they are definitely wider shoe with minor heel slip. i ended up purchasing another pair of the newer-ish released on oct 2023 2002rd 'High Desert with Dark Moss and Black' in a size 9 and should fit a little more snug but still normal level width.
Ok I think nb stopped caring about thier quaintly . As here in Australia most nb shoes are. Not comfy and the sizes are off ! I found the 996 more comfy than the 547 !! Yes the 996 look narrow and the 547 are wide but man not sure how the 547 squashed my shoes ! I read reviews of purple who owned nb for years and finding the name made safe smaller
Made in USA is their top tier materials and craftsmanship. You need something that says "MADE IN CHINA" I presume... you are better off just shopping at Temu and stay off RUclips.
i bought 2 pairs and they are so heavy - 460g size 12 US. The sole feels like solid rubber and needs a squishy insole to try and make it more comfortable. Coming from 997h i paid twice as much for these expecting an upgrade but was very disappointed
Man that's a brutal weight, way too heavy. I thought the sleeker design they'd be lighter compared to other NBs. So happy with my 990v4, only 12 ounces (340g or so). This particular 998 is soo ugly compared to the other ones as well.
The front toe mesh on my 998 ripped and it was the first pair of shoes that ripped on my running shoe. I have the exact pair of shoe that you're wearing except mine is a size 11.5 US.
I'm with you, the shape of the recents realeses looks prissy compare to the models previous to this ones with diferent shape. I prefer the others that has a bulkier and less sleek shape
Wow these are UGLY 💀, like something you'd see in a senior's home or at a bowling alley lol 🎳. The heel part just doesn't look right on this version compared to other 998s. 990v4, 993 or even 2002R are much better shoes from NB and much more comfortable and durable as well.
So true, a couple years ago, I bought the limited edition Horween leather made in USA 1300, man the N logo just fell off after I wore it 10 times, I really took care of that baby...
0:48 like what the f are those... I had some beige/white/black adidas sneaker that had the exact same shoe shape and style, almost identical looking, not sure the name anymore, but they looked million times fresher. New balance really is some old boomer shoe shit no matter how hard they try.
You obviously have no understanding of sneaker trends. NB is the most profitable and upcoming brand for '24. You keep wearing your adidas samba's and we'll keep laughing at you. Bet that.

💯 Well said! I hope they don’t play with the 997 OG
ayee seen you on reddit good taste bro!

Each to their own - I agree new balance do go the extra mile to keep it true to the original 🫡
good

They do look a bit tight, but the extended tounge is what sold me
You picked up a pair?
@@SamuelSagua yea, the tounge
reminds me of the samba classic. SHAPE btw!

True to size is fine - in they past they were a little big correct! Thanks for watching!

Hi. You've chosen your size?

Thanks for watching please comment 'Shape' to show me you enjoyed this video
I definitely was not disappointed in these. I love them and they're $100 now. I have 2 pair!
$100 from where?
Not $100. You got the ones made in china.

I disagree these 998’s are very well made but the 2002rs are very comfortable!
My mid foot feels like its too wide for the outsole anyone else have this problem?

In made in UK I have size 11,5 USA, so in this model 11 USA will be perfect?🙂
Stick with the US11.5
Do they have the same model but made elsewhere with better quality? Made in USA is not exactly the quality I want

Found a pair of these at Nordstrom rack for $60. Gonna run them to the ground
Steal! Enjoy!

New balance looks great but feel sooo soggy. No structure or support.
That tongue bothers me so much now. "Shape"
It’s HUGE! Fo no reason!
These are not it! I bought this pair because my favourite pair ws the Concepts 998 and these are way to slim! Quality was doo doo too!
Looks too much like a 997h, which is way cheaper.
those look horrific

Made in USA should be cheaper because of lower manufacturing quality. I rather get shoes made in Vietnam or China.
What about Made in England pairs?
