I LOVED THIS! Personally, I enjoy the longer videos more because it forces me to sit down and pay attention. I learn more this way. I’ve been researching my tulip options for next year so this was very helpful. All of my fringed tulips have been super short. I don’t think it’s just your soil unless we have the exact same soil. Some of these will definitely be on my order list next month! Thanks!
I really enjoyed this tulip tour! I have not had great luck with tulips in my garden, I need to learn the ways!! live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, where we have a lot of flower farms. One of them is the tulip farm outside Woodburn. It's a big field of tulips in so many lovely colors! If any of you guys are ever in the area in April, I highly recommend the trip. The farm is about halfway between Portland and Salem, east of Woodburn, which is right on I-5.
I *love* these types of videos, they're so inspiring. I dislike the like bright yellow and red colored flowers too. Reminds me of primary colors/toddlers
Bravo 👏 spectacular 👏 awesome. I can not believe how beautiful. Your photography....amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful Tulip display ❤. You should consider doing a calendar or better yet a book of your photography. I don't grow Tulips because of my deer population, but seeing these photos next year fall I just may try again!! So enjoyed this!!!!!!
Tulips are one of my favorite flowers, thank you so much for such an eye candy. My guess that surprise tulip could be Aveyron, I have the tulips that look exactly like yours, and mine were labeled Aveyron.
I love the music and the shots of tulips at the end. I could definitely watch beautiful video footage of tulips and listen to relaxing music for long periods of time. lol
Where did you buy your gorgeous Tulips from? I have 11 of these I want to purchase next year. You did a beautiful job in displaying, taking pictures, and talking about specs! Thank you.
I loved hearing your reviews and comments, I absolutely adore tulips and am looking for new varieties to plant in the fall. I’ve resisted planting La Belle Epoques but I think I’ll have to give them a try. Which was your favorite super dark tulip? My favorite is the queen of the night, but I want to try something new. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I also had a few 'Victoria's Secret' tulips that bloomed too late to be in this video. They aren't super dark, but a very pretty dark purple. Definitely one to consider if you like parrot type tulips. Happy gardening! :)
I'm planning to add a flowerbed along the back of my house (south side), and I have to decide which ones I want to add.. Thankfully I have some time... As long as I don't forget and wait until the last minute. Lol
Another fabulous video. Wow! 😃 I am always amazed by how many flowers you can grow in your backyard!!🌷 I have to ask, from which supplier(s) do you buy your flowers ( your ranunculus, daffodils, tulips and anemones)? Your choices are stunning! The catalogs I offer nothing as beautiful!
I use Dutch Grown for things like tulips and daffodils. The anemones and ranunculus are definitely harder to find. I actually drove over an hour last year to find some Amandine ranunculus corms for sale at a garden center in a different state, LOL!
I love, love, love every single variety of tulip that you grew! I had to put the few new ones I purchased last year in pots to avoid the rabbits eating them but the squirrels still dug them out! Oh well, the few that bloomed were very pretty. Not like the ones you have though.
I don't grow Tulips, so I'm not sure if this will help or not... But I do grow Daffodils, and I have found that when I stopped using bone meal (and blood meal too if you use that - or basically any animal product in the soil) that all the animals, including squirrels, stopped digging my Daffs up. This really shouldn't apply to squirrels since they are vegetarians. But for whatever reason, they are no longer attracted to my bulbs.
I love your channel and videos💖! They are such a great gardening resource!!! What do you do with your bulbs when you change your plot over? Do you remove the bulbs and discard, treating them as annuals, or do you store them?
That's definitely something I'll do in the future. As for bloom time, the order that each flower appears in this video is the same order that each of the varieties started to bloom. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Hi! quicke question.... HOW DID YOU GET THE STEMS SO LONG. i HAD MANY OF MY TULIPS THIS YEAR WITH SHORT STEMS SO i STRUGGLED WHEN PICKING THEM UP FOR BOUQUETS. i mainly grow for myself. my sister, my mom and mom in law
There are a lot of theories as to why some tulips are so short. Some suggest lack of water or too short period of chilling hours. However, all of my tulips grew under the same conditions and some stems were clearly better than others. That kind of leads me to believe that it's just genetic. Thanks so much for watching! :)
And as strange as it may sound, I really don't like the smell of flowers, so I avoid the ones that have a strong scent. So thanks for mentioning it!! 🙂
Can I ask where you got La Vie from - I have it saved to order from a supplier but want to make sure it's not the one you got it from since the stems are so short! Also, would you say that the Renown Unique is the most "peony" type - that's what I am looking for! If not, which would you say is? Great video - so helpful!! Thanks so much!
It came from Eden Brother's. 'Renown Unique' is very nice, and the stems are so long! For peony-type blooms, I really liked 'Amazing Grace' and 'Copper Image.' Thanks so much for watching! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers Thanks for your quick reply - that is where I had thought of getting it from. I have been looking at the others that you mentioned above and showed so beautifully in your video so I probably go with those!! THANK YOU!!!
Mornin' Kentucky! ❤ I thought I would chime in on the question of why some flower colors are called Blue instead of Purple. But I feel like I should first add a disclaimer to this whole thing... Mainly bcuz I'm not fluent in the language in question, therefore, I cannot verify if it's actually true! So I'm just going to call this a Theory instead of an actual reason. Soooooo, way back at the beginning of the written language, when Latin was the main thing spoken, and somebody got the bee in their bonnet to start labeling EVERY SINGLE PLANT EVER GROWN ON THIS PLANET, (sheesh, can you imagine having OCD so severely that you HAD to have a name for every single plant!! Ha! Yeah, that's a burden... ) Well... all these plants names were written in Latin. This is why all plants still have Latin names to go with their common names. Bcuz seriously, who wants to rewrite THAT catalog!! Nobody, that's who! And the point is this: Apparently there was no Latin word for Purple. I don't know when that changed, or even if it has changed in Latin. But yeah, that was the reason. The peeps at the time decided the closest color to Purple was Blue. And really, they aren't too far off bcuz when mixing paint colors, you DO need Blue to make the Purple color... However, I feel like they really should have made up a new word to represent Purple! Bcuz, I mean, it's like calling Orange - Red. But once again, no decision makers have asked me. And so, my opinion is NOT the point! Nope. Anyway, if I were fully fluent in Latin, then I could verify if this were true. But alas, I cannot. It's just what I heard at some point in my travels. That's the Theory of why Purple is called Blue. Thank You once again for the gorgeous video! ❤
That's a very interesting theory. I have no knowledge of Latin, whatsoever. It makes me wonder about flowers like Echinacea purpura though. Thanks for watching! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers YES!! Seeeeee!!! THAT is a perfect example of how this theory doesn't work!!! I have no idea what the time line is on every plant found, and named. It makes me wonder if the person who named all the purple colors blue, well... maybe he was color blind?!! 🤷🏼♀️
I’m selecting tulip bulbs for next Spring 2023 right now. Thanks for sharing.
I like the snow crystal double fringed, its white and it only opens very minimally

Some monster farms don’t even have that many different kinds, you are blowing my mind. I am like you small backyard I’m renting, but dreaming big.

I love these tour videos you post and that you talk about your experience with them. It helps so much!
I love these trials of different types of flower groups. Would love if you did more in the future, maybe for zinnias, cosmos, snaps?
I already have a zinnia tour video from last season. I definitely would like to make more. Thanks so much for watching! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers ooh awesome I will definitely check that out! Is there a “tour” type playlist?
Love all of your Tulips and how you tell exactly what kind it is as well as stem length...how it grew...etc. ty for this beautiful informative video

Amazingly beautiful choice of tulips... Loved watching the presentation.. Gave me idea for next spring...

Hi Tonya- your emperor look just like mine, I’ve grown them a few years in a row as they are the first to open for me.
Just subscribed tonight watching from Australia learning so much already thanks so much ❤️ for such informative detailed helpful videos 😍👍👍

Where do you buy your tulips? These are so gorgeous!!!
Great video! I love when your kitties make an appearance. What first began your interest in gardening?
I started gardening by growing pumpkins. I think I tell the whole story in the free e-book - though it's been years since.
Love these videos showing the varieties. So much inspiration.
Amazing tour and very helpful! Thanks for all your informative videos!

Gorgeous! Neighborhood deer won't let me grow tulips. 😑
your apricot foxx does look like menton exotic. I have both and i love both :)
Gorgeous. Would you be willing to put a list of top 10 together with color and stem length and early mid or late bloom time.

Most of mine came from Dutch Grown last year. Thanks so much for watching! :)
So many pretty tulips!!! How to choose?!?! 😬😬
Your camera is amazing!
Thanks so much for watching! :)
Will you pull these bulbs out and grow the same bulbs next year or just buy all new bulbs
Unfortunately, most tulips only behave as annuals in my growing zone.
