Both were 777s too. 777 hull losses are incredibly rare since they are reliable and well built planes. MAS lost two of them in one year. Both were bizarre external threats too, not related to the general aviation operations. The amount of bad luck they had is insane.

Call me crazy but I’ll go one further and say that it’s never a good idea to fly civilian aircraft through an active conflict. Just as a rule of thumb.
And frankly if you are so intent on flying through, that at the very least you’d want an RWR, flares, and chaff.

Except that as far as the world was aware at the time it was an internal conflict in Ukraine and the "separatists" had barely any military equipment.
We've since learned that it was Russia sending soldiers into Ukraine to pretend to be "separatists" and had been given all sorts of military equipment rebels couldn't have gotten. Including the air defence system the Russians used to shoot down MH-17.

Consider, though, that Buk missiles are particularly high-reaching missiles. (The name comes from the Russian word for beech trees, which fall on the taller side, as tall trees go.) Had they been genuine separatists, Girkin's pals would not have any access to it, nor able to hurt planes flying that high. It is only because they were actually Russia's front group that they got access to such missiles, and there's some reasonable excusability for making the assumption that they were just separatists at this, relatively early, point, in the war,, as wrong as it was.

The US FAA had issued a warning in around March 2014 (even before Mh370 went missing) about potential surface to air missile threats over Eastern Ukraine. Some other airlines like EVA Air, Air India, Singapore Airlines who had flights in the same area where MH17 was shot down also never heeded this warning. It just so happens Malaysia got unlucky, but I hope our national airline has learnt from Mh17. We can’t play with lives to save fuel costs crossing over a warzone with potential military threats there.

It's Minchella's 99s at South Shields beach, a walk beneath the Newcastle bridges, a trip to Hadrian's Wall and - obviously - the Lady of the North. For me, there is no warmer and friendlier accent than the Geordie accent and I really wish I had one. I started watching this channel because of the accent (and stayed for the content). 2014 was such a tragic year for Malaysia Airlines. One not soon to be forgotten.
I remember when this happened. Pictures from the scene soon reached aviation forums and discussion boards.
It became very obvious within about 72 hours that the plane had been shot down. Russian soldiers were seen removing hardware from the still very recognisable cockpit wreckage. But they couldn't stop a bystander taking pictures of part of the fuselage skin that surrounded the captain's left hand window.
In that skin were punched the tell tale bowtie shaped holes from the unique shape of the Buk missile's fragmentation payload. No other missile could leave those shapes punched in the fuselage.
A Buk 1-M missile launcher was then also seen leaving the area with 1 of its 4 missiles missing.
The Russians can deny it all they want, their missile shot MH17 down.

I don't know if I would agree they just didn't care. In the very same video, she talks about an actual Ukrainian military plane being shot down in the area, so obviously, to separatists, there were enemy planes to monitor for. They saw something that appeared to fly very similarly to the one that was shot down earlier, at that point, it sounds like they had more reasons to believe it was another one of the Ukrainian planes, than not. Everyone is quick to blame this solely on Russia, but again, in the video we just watched, she mentioned, and I appreciate some level of fairness in this otherwise very one-sided story, that Ukrainian traffic controllers, and the Malaysia Airlines, are also partially at fault for putting the plane right inside an active war zone, where another plane was just shot down! What were they thinking? Or was it, perhaps, done on purpose? I don't trust those Ukrainians anymore that Russians.

A very detailed analysis. Factual check: I found only 2 inconsistancies (in the order of appearence)
    1. The governemental buildings were not seized in Maidan revolution. The parlament functioned. Yanukovich has fled 3-days after the massacre, and the parlament had to feel a gap in legislation, passing a law declaring the President as such that has willingly abandoned his responsibilities.
    2. The shot-down of Il-76 with 49 military on board happened on 31 of May, not on 14th of July. It was done at an about 300 ft of altitude using a hand-held Stinger-like rocket launcher. The An-26 transport, however, was taken down on 14th of July at 15000 ft.

Where is the complete lay-out of the aircraft wreckage in its original form? Where is the complete data from the flight recorders and their competent analysis? Where are the data from Ukrainian radar and USA satellites? Where is the data from the procedure of weighing the I-beam(The Dutch called it a bow tie). Just one, because there are 1870 of them in the 9N314M warhead! Where are the results of structural analyses that forced the Dutch to divide the debris striking elements into three different groups by chemical composition? In reality, all striking elements of 9N314M warhead are made of the same grade of steel, and therefore have the same chemical composition!.....

So many strange things happened to this flight before its fate.
That day was July 17, and the aircraft just turned 17 years old that day. The flight number was also 17. A photographer took photo of the plane while it was parked at the gate. Another photographer took a photo of this plane taking off.

Chloe, I had no idea they posted pics online like that. I always learn something new from you. It seems to be in wars that it's always the innocent who suffer the most. I hope the victims were rendered unconscious immediately. The idea of falling to earth in a plane as it breaks apart is beyond nightmarish and possibly one of the worst ways to end life. I hope that those responsible are harrowed by guilt forever and that when they have to surrender to mortality, they are confronted with the magnitude of this mass murder.

I don't see any definitive evidence here to make me take the word of the socalled 'separitists' (a lot of whom were just incognito russian soldiers in the first place) that this was a misident-- I find it just as likely that this was an effort at a 'false flag' operation to intentionally down a civilian plane and then blame it on Ukraine-- hence why the missile launcher was moved in and then moved BACK to russia so quickly- that wouldn't make sense otherwise from a military logistics and planning standpoint.

    • @ChucksSEADnDEAD
      @ChucksSEADnDEAD 3 месяца назад

The problem is that separatists bragged on social media about bringing down the aircraft.
They hid the Buk launcher because they realized they effed up.
The Buk TELAR only has a fire control radar, not a search radar as part of a full battery. If it were a false flag, they'd use a search radar to make sure they did it right.

The Dutch claim that recording on the CVR and FDR stopped at 13 hours 20 minutes 3 seconds. That is, both recorders stopped recording parameters at the same time
The recording of the pressure sensor inside the aircraft on the diagram stops at 13 hours 20 minutes and 1 second. That is 2 seconds earlier. The Dutch report states that this sensor worked with the sequence 1 time every 4 seconds. The ICAO standard is once every 1 second. In this case these 2 seconds play a huge role. Everyone recognises this, and the Dutch report analyses the last, according to them, 20 milliseconds before the accident. So where are the 2 seconds and why did the Dutch go to the trouble of falsifying data from the flight recorder?

Hey Chloe! Just here to say that this was an amazing breakdown of MH17, I was always kinda shocked on how a plane as big as a 777 can just get shotdown like this and someone later claim it was just an ukrainian military plane, now, this disaster didn't need to happened, 298 souls were lost because of this. In fact, shot-downs like these are the reason why El Al Airlines has defense systems on their aircraft to protect them from surface-to-air missiles, and to think something like this happened again as recently as 2020 with Ukraine International Airlines flight 752 and could probably happen again is just, to put it simply, baffling, I hope that we can all learn from these mistakes and make it so we don't have to learn it again the hard way and more lifes are lost.
On another note, your video skills have gotten wuite better! I started watching you on mid-2023 and I can tell a lot of time and effort has been put into making better videos and that is just amazing, also, maybe some day you could make a video talking about VASP 375? A Boeing 737-300 that got hijacked over Brasil and was to be thrown onto the Plateau Palace in Brasilia but instead landed Goiânia because of pilot Fernando Murilo de Lima e Silva's flying skills, it would be very cool becsuse there isn't really a proper video talking about the hijacking, BUT, there is a movie about it, I already watched it and I definetly recommend watching it, it's amazing.
Anyhow, that's pretty much all I have to say, have an amazing day and stay awesome!

As a Russian citizen, I deeply regret what has been and is going on at the Ukrainian borders. Without any means of control, all I can is to feel sorry for all the people involved in the war. There is next to no difference between the countries but the ones inflicted by the governments. I consider the war to be a civil one, since I have friends on the both sides of the border. I wish the sides come to a treaty rather sooner than later. I knew people who died there or got insured. Despite living a live relatively unchanged over the years of the war, I do feel for those who are closer, who are there. And trust me on that, I have never supported the war, I have never stood for it. I feel embarrassed that the Russian leaders started the war, I never understand the reasons for it.
