I mean, if u have an amp with a distortion, it can kidna sound like it, but you preferably should use a distortion pedal, I have a dos distortion and a boss ds1
I'm using the Line 6 HX Stomp, most likely a 5150 style amp sim with a tube screamer in front, then an octave down whammy pedal in front for the low stuff. A little bit of EQ and compression afterwards in Cubase :)
