- We have brought Nattie into the barn and decide to give her a little lesson to help her overcome a few issues she has started having. Nattie is such an is incredibly sweet, gentle, mellow and easy going young Clydesdale filly. She 18 months old and growing like crazy. We hope you love Nattie as much as we do!

Haha. We had it a bit backwards on the “Beta” thing. We should have used the term “Omega”. It goes Alpha, Beta, Omega. So we were off a bit but hopefully you get the point.
So, THAT'S why Nattie was antsy about standing still when going to pick up her hind legs!! Notice how she was okay with front legs... but moved with back legs. Yes, I know that can happen, but if the other horses were BITING her on the back legs, I would be antsy, too, if a human went for my back legs!! Poor girl. 😞

I just want you to know that you gave Natty more of a rescue than you ever realized. Do you remember those weirdly built really huge shoes that were nailed to her feet when you first bought her? Remember they said it was because her trot was "not great" even though she literally trots as beautifully as a purebred Friesian horse? Well it turns out those horrid shoes she had are the start of stocks for "Big lick" which is horrible. If you watch even one video for 1 minute about Big lick you will vomit in horror. And you rescued Natty from that fate. I am not a religious person but I believe a kind fate is waiting for you and your family in the After.
Nattie is one of my favorites: great looking horse with a kind and gentle temperament. And, she is smart as well as eager to please J.R. She deserves special attention and loads of love. Keep up the good work with her, J.R.

I've always loved Nattie from day one when you brought her home. Nattie stood so proud (side view) in the video by herself and looked so pretty that it would make a great photo of her youth.

I absolutely adore her eyes. One of the prettiest eyes sets that I’ve seen for a long time. Obviously she’s very kind and good natured and intelligent.

Sweet Nattie. So sad to hear other horses are biting her legs. J.R. training her but praising her in a kind voice makes my heart smile. My youngest child was bullied & tormented by mean girls in her class from 3rd grade thru middle school. I know how I felt as a mother when it was going on. I'm glad you aren't letting her be bullied by meanies there. We love Nattie ❤

I ran to watch my precious Nattie girl. Thanks for explaining why she always seemed on the outskirts of the herd. Really been like that since day 1. I'm glad she has some friends in Fraulein and Darlin'. I look forward to more interactions with Beauty who will also hopefully help her to own her Clydesdale large stature. Those herd members who picked on her are in for a rude awakening when she gets bigger and better hope she doesn't hold a grudge. 😂

thanks for your honesty of horses not liking those that are different. I had several Canadians and one Arab cross in the pasture, She got picked on a lot. Also when I had goats, I had one Nubian and the rest were Toggenburgs. The Nubian was always by herself. She was also great at escaping and once outside the pasture, she's lead the other goats all over the neborhood. She also refused to be bred. If she was alive now I'd have to be careful or she would be shunned and ridiculed by humans as well!

I have to say I knew you must've seen she was bottom of the herd and was being bullied. I saw it. She was becoming almost withdrawn. I kept mentioning it in comments but I knew you already knew. I am thrilled she's getting a little extra food and a little extra attention. Being low man on the totem means she also gets less food. She deserves the Princess treatment for a short time. I sure envy Clydesdales because they have highlights in their tails that I have to pay $200 for.

@fleetskipper1810 I noticed those highlights and wondered about those; how common or uncommon they were. I am used to seeing a fully dark tail and mane on bays, in the breed. She has a sort of matching tan/camel colored area near her nostrils rather than it being all cream or white, there.

A lunge whip is one of my favorite training tools. I don't touch the horse with it, it's an extension of my arm. Gives me control of the size of the circle, the speed of the horse, and helps me collect from the ground. I also have taken it out with me when catching one horse from a herd because the rest will give me more space, safety.

You are so correct. The one that is “different” gets pushed away. I have 3 mustangs and one gaited mare. The mustangs totally band together and “allow” the gaited mare in only on their terms.

Not everyone on RUclips believes in hand, feeding horses their treats. But I have read some studies that when you give a horse or a large animal a treat it Puts serotonin or dopamine in your brain, and makes you happy. So I’m sure you have made a lot of your viewers. Happy with how sweet you are to Nadi my horse will not take a treat out of your hand, and one of our other horses won’t even eat treats. If you put them on the ground she does not like carrots or horse treats. Nadi sure is beautiful and you’re correct she has a beautiful little trot, fast and fancy.

I love Nattie, just a big sweetheart perfectly marked. We have owned this type of bottom of the totem pole horse, she is a Rocky Mountain mare, had her now for 20 years. Other horses just chase her out not from my mares, not their baby bought her as weanling and no one would accept her. But lucky the dominant pony liked her and the Jacob sheep loved her. So ended up separating her after months of trying to see if mares would let her in; but we could not stand to see her bite and kicked at, seeing her standing alone. Ended up separating her and she lived with the pony and sheep all these years very happy no one chasing her. She is still the sweetest horse we ever owned. Sheep sleep right buy her follow her, their protectors is fun to watch. Glad Nattie has couple horses accepting her is a good thing and your family to watch over her giving her all that special love she needs. Going to make a great pair pulling with Beauty someday both so beautiful.
