  • In this playlist one will find videos regarding Myanmar(Burma). In this video, we are showing the brief history of the Last Mughal Emperor- Bahadur Shah Jafar’s Tomb at Yangon, Myanmar.
    Brief History of Jafar -
Bahadur Shah Zafar or Bahadur Shah II was born on 24 October 1775 and became the twentieth and last Mughal Emperor in 1837 at the age of 62. He was a titular Emperor, as the Mughal Empire existed in name only and his authority was limited only to the walled city of Old Delhi. Following his involvement in the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the British exiled him to Rangoon in British-controlled Burma (now in Myanmar, after convicting him on several charges. As the result, Zafar was exiled to Rangoon, Burma. His wife Zeenat Mahal and some of the remaining members of the family accompanied him. At 4 am on 7 October 1858, Zafar along with his wives, and two remaining sons began his journey towards Rangoon. In 1862, at the age of 87, he had reportedly acquired some illness. Zafar died on Friday, 7 November 1862 at 5 am. Zafar was buried at 4 pm in the back of Zafar's house complex.
For more than a century the last Mughal emperor was almost forgotten - but a chance finding of his grave helped resurrect the legacy of a man revered as a Sufi saint and one of the finest poets in the Urdu language. Compared with his ancestors' grand mausoleums in India, Zafar's tomb is modest. An arched iron-grill bears his name and title. The ground floor houses the graves of one of his wives, Zinat Mahal, and his granddaughter, Raunaq Zamani. and a crypt beneath, Zafar's grave is strewn with rose petals and other flowers.
The dargah or shrine has become a pilgrimage site for Yangon's Muslim population. "They come to meditate and pray near his grave. When people's wishes are fulfilled they donate money and other things."

Very nice comment. Thanks for your support. Bahadur Shah is most remembered as the last Mughal Emperor in India, and for his role in the Gadar of 1857.

Indian kings and regiments accepted and declared him as the Emperor of India, in the First War of Independence 1857 against the most powerful East India Company.
The dargah of Bahadur Shah Jafar has become a pilgrimage site for Yangon's Muslim population.

Mughal empire was on last legs at that time, he cant do anything. Only ceremonial, so can't blame him. The real culprits are Aurangzeb and his sons

@Naved "Hazrat" ruled over death bodies of father and 3 brothers, many unknown killings. 52 years of rule but within 100 years after that all is lost.
Aurangzeb did not allow TanaShah a prisoner king's son who was most handsome person in Aurangabad , killed him by poisoning.
