Surely the entire argument everyone should be making is that we are appalled and fed up of the failure to protect children who are being abused, whoever it is, without fear or favour, equal before the law, and that any promotion, whatever the source, of abuse of children must be stopped. Whatever the religion, or none, whatever the race, ethnicity, age, sex, wealth or fame or any other defining factor, prosecute and make the sentences for the guilty have some actual weight and deterrent. There should never be a situation in which the police, CPS, NHS, Social Services, councils, religious institutions, religious leaders and the judiciary supress or ignore the victims and leave them living in abuse and fear and allow the perpetrators to go free or sentences that mean very little. It all must be stopped.
