I have also been translating some of his work (especially the 1930's movies) to my native language - which is Portuguese - so that people can get to know something about that great man. He was too strict on His Sons Gary, Dennis, Phil and maybe Lindsey

    • @ep8324
      @ep8324  Год назад +2

      @@itravisoni he was strict, but he meant well and was no abuser. Bing himself wasn't sure wether he was doing right. Dixie was telling him he wasn't strict enough. Phil Crosby said his father was "strict, but not over-strict". Gary was the only one who complained. And as shown above, the awful accusations have been disputed by all his siblings and other family members. Even Gary's contradictions in his own narrative reveal that his abuse stories are simple lies.

      @itravisoni Год назад +2

      Why would Gary lie that doesn't make sense

    • @ep8324
      @ep8324  Год назад +2

      @@itravisoni Gary admitted himself later on that he wrote this book for money and that the publishers pushed him to lie for more money. And he really got quite some attention and dough for his book. He himself refuted the abuse claims layer on and conceded multiple times (in private and during an on sound tape interview) that he had lied in his book, that his co-writer wrote many of those passages for him, and that his father wasn't more strict than any other fathers of his time.

      @@ep8324 No two of the three brother confirmed the accusations, and both eventually committed suicide. None of the four worked consistently during their lifetimes. I would hardly consider that outcome successful parenting. Yes, Gary wrote the book for the money, BUT if only 25% of what he wrote is true, then Bing is an Asshole.

    God bless you for doing this. So well researched, so well put together. It needs to be seen by the whole world-especially those who believed Gary’s book. Although apparently he didn’t believe it himself! Because he knew it wasn’t true. Feel bad for him… The ghost writer will get his just reward…
    And poor Dixie … always in the shadows & lost in the shuffle-until now, thanks to you. Obviously she took to alcohol because it was numbing something for her. It’s speculation to say perhaps she may have had a mental condition like her youngest son? So tragic. Such a tragedy with the two boys taking their lives. They really were all so talented… I pray for them & their parents.
    Loved Bing Crosby since I’m a little girl. I’m Mary Frances’ age. He was always part of my life. Still is. My parents loved him as did my grandparents & even my great-grandparents who died in the 1940s. Crosby always seemed magical to me. He had that great smile, terrific sense of humor, tremendous talent & intelligence, and true humility. Still miss him-like I would miss an Uncle I’d loved all my life…
    Will say a prayer of gratitude to you for this monumental work to clear the Crosby name. What a fabulous job. Again, God bless you.

      Aw thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts and story! We can't say what exactly made Dixie grab the bottle and we can't make a diagnose. From what is known, it does not look like there was depression or bipolar disorder in Dixie's case - that doesn't seem to have been a problem. She was a pretty even-tempered person in that respect. She was truly unstable only when she reached for the bottle. It seems more like she had great trouble processing the feeling of loneliness when Bing was away and partly also the feeling of boredom, as servants, maids and nannies largely freed her from many of the chores connected to being a housewife and mother. And it looks like, at a time, she found that alcohol helped her to overcome that momentarily. Sadly, she grew dependant on it and the initial purpose faded and the dependency became the reason.
      That being said, I loved your paragraph about why Bing means so much to you (beginning with "Loved Bing Crosby since...")! I have a Crosby fanpage on Instagram (@bingcrosby_facts) and among research posts, there is a series of posts sharing texts by other people on why Bing is special to them etc. Would you mind if I share just your paragraph in which you discuss this in the caption in one of those posts? It can be done anonymously or I can credit you (if so, how should I name you?). It would be really nice of you if you'd allow me to share this paragraph with the community, it's so beautiful! And it really showcases one of Bing's typical traits: he managed to unite all kinds of audiences and to appeal to multiple generations and people of all ages.

    Were the allegations exaggerated? There is no denying that two of the three brothers confirm Gary's accusations, and even though Philip defends his father he does admit that he was a strict disciplinarian. None of the brothers consistently worked for a living during their lives, and two committed suicide, life long alcoholics perhaps to hide the pain of their abusive childhood? Bing also sought to control his sons from the grave by denying them their inheritance until they reached age 65 - only one made it that far. This "debunker" is no more than a apologist for Bing's failure as a father and person. . So Bing was a good person in public, and by his third marriage mellowed to the degree that he no longer abused his children? Does this change what he did to his first four sons? The evidence is clear that during his first marriage Bing Crosby was not a good father and more than likely an abuser. I don't believe everything that Gary wrote, but if only 25% of if is true, then Bing was truly a monster.

      The "arguments" you've listed show that you haven't even watched the video properly. Every single point you've mentioned is addressed in depth, with direct evidence, and if you'd pay attention and check out all the listed sources, you'll notice that they've been debunked. It is false to say that anybody other than Gary supported his claims. Because it's just not true - it's misinformation that has been traced back to sources that have been debunked. The suicides are also addressed. To put the facts straight, the suicides you're referring to both took place over a decade after Bing Crosby's own passing, when the two sons who took their lives were both mature middle aged men. One took this step after he lost all his financial security that had been bound to oil stock which folded during the 1980s oil glut. The other was distraught by his brother's death and took his life following a draining divorce process from his wife. Bing's parenting had nothing to do with these tragic decisions. Also, these two brothers denied their oldest brother's Gary's abuse claims.
      The case of the money is also addressed in the video - adjusted for inflation, each of the sons received several million at age 21 (which each of the boys very quickly managed to spend because they couldn't handle such huge sums), and received a big rent from their mother's trust fund throughout their adult lives. Their father's trust fund was supposed to provide for them after that. The 65 years of age limit was supposed to protect them from spending all the money immediately as they did with the millions they got to get an independent start into their adult lives. If you actually would have watched, you wouldn't say such horrible things about a person who hasn't deserved any of this slander. The abuse claims in Gary's book have been proven to be lies. Watch the video first and actually read and watch all the sources before arguing.
