  • Franks film takes an inside look of the Woolton cinema. He talks to David Parr the current projectionist of the cinema and gives us a good look at the workings that go on in the projection room. Is this the end of an era with reel film?

Absolutely no other work like this in the world. 20yrs in the game & absolutely loved every second of it. You did not do it for the money ,it was absolute showmanship

Thanks to RUclips’s algorithms this great little video popped into my feed. I’ve googled where this is as I would love to visit, but have discovered it’s closed and shows no signs of reopening. So sad 😢

The first film I saw on this cinema was a matinee of Superman 1 and 2 in the summer holidays. This was my local cinema growing up and I've seen many films there.

Unfortunately, commenting under a pseudonym. Born and bred in Liverpool, I watched my first big movie at 6 years old at the WPH, the first of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship. A life changing moment for me. Above everything that happened in my life before that moment whether good or bad, many moments don’t stand out but this film, made a big part of my childhood which led to my future endeavors. Thank you all at WPH. Forever in my heart.

I saw Mario Lanza films here in the fifties. Loved the cracks the young lads made during the films.

My first memory of the Woolton was to watch Disney’s Bambi in the mid 50s and fond memories of the Saturday afternoon matinees which was the norm in those days

I live 250 miles away in Scotland and am a projectionist. Never visited this place but just heard it closed the other day. This video is too painful to watch 💔

You'll be interested to learn CineSinge that The Woolton was saved from closure today (18.9.20) due to donations provided by members of the public. Many thanks for your concern for this wonderful picture house.

A cinema with lovely red velvet tabs. That's something rarely seen by youngsters today.

What a great cinema. John Lennon used to go there.
