Nice work! I appreciate this video!. One thing I might add is that Prime does dechlorinate water, however, its ability to detoxify the ammonia and nitrite lasts about 48 hours.
I had no idea that water changes and adding live plants could help reduce nitrites in my aquarium. This guide really opened my eyes to the natural solutions available!"
Dude i am freaking out i have 3 pumps that is the bubbles kind i have a sponge filter and a 30 gallon tank. But u havent cleaned it in like over 3 months and it was bad but the water was still clean. But bottom was horrid with lots of wmfish waste . Im trying to learn NOT TO OVER FEED BUT I DONT WANT TO STARVE THEM. I just cleaned out the tank too yesterday i want my fish happy and healthy
Great explanation about How To Lower Nitrites! Thank you so much for everything. Thank you for the information provided, your channel has helped me a lot to learn many things and be more attentive and also to clear up doubts
If you have detectable nitrites, that usually means the cycle isn't complete or the existing beneifical bacterial has been damanged and must rebuild. You shouldn't really ever be able to see nitrites in an established tank.
10:47 Cleaning your intakes and your sponge frequently, is a bad idea they can cause your tank to stay cloudy and no beneficial bacteria from growing. When setting up your tank I would at least give it a month before you change anything
I've learned not all nitrates are equal. The nitrates from fish waste and unconsumed food so not make plants grow. Would you agree with that? My source says bring down levels to 25ppm with a water change and then add quality ferts to bring no higher than 50ppm. Would you agree with that? I've thrown so much money at dying plants. I need a solution. Thanks.
🤔- well fertilizers and fish waste and uneaten food are different in that they produce ammonia first. Meanwhile fertilizers will bring in just the nitrates. To me that is the difference. What plants do you have? Maybe you could consider hardier plants like hornwort of Java fern.
I've done partial water changes and complete water changes treated every time with water conditioner and within 2 days nitrite and nitrate levels increases more and more. Everything was fine until I removed a dead Otocinclus that had been dead a couple of days. I have a 10 gallon freshwater tank with no live plants. 7 small fish and 2 corys and 3 Otocinclus. I'm at a lost of anything to do.
@@AquariumStoreDepot I've been fighting this for over a month now. I added the 2 corys two weeks ago hoping they would help. They did clean up the tank very well and within a day 🤣. Since getting them though, and they are bigger than my other fish, I've been thinking that I may need a larger tank. I forgot to tell you that when I did the full water change a couple days ago, I also took out all the decor and washed them in just water then replaced them back in the tank. I did not wash the substrate. The test strips I use are the 6 in one. They don't test for ammonia. Just nitrates, nitrites, chlorine, hardness, alkalinity, and ph.
@@RubyFaber sounds like the tank could be overstocked or you filtration isn’t enough. Fish won’t help with lowering nutrients. Certain plants will though

Prime doesnt eliminate Nitrites only temp binds them the effect wears off in 48 hours. API also has a similar product that does the same...

Change your water again and check your source water too. Looks around and see if there are more dead livestock. That’s where I would start
Thank you. All fish are accounted for. My tap water is also good. Not even any chlorine. 🤷♀️.
@@RubyFaber sounds good. When was the last time you added livestock and how many did you add?

Ya got any answers that don't require buying stuff?
Yes - you can always get donor filter media from a hobbyist with a healthy established tank
‼️HELP‼️ What if you're doing a fishless cycle & you're nitrite is not going away? Everything is balanced except my NITRITE. What can I do?
Idk what’s going on with mine there’s literally nothing in the tank and my nitrite is literally at max
Have you tested your tap water after treating it?
@@AquariumStoreDepot no I haven’t tested my tap water
@@AquariumStoreDepot what does that have to do?
@@HybridMiranda yes I used Quick start (Fritz) fresh and I’ve had some issues but with 20% water changes it’s working out thx:)
💥💥 Is this vidio about Nitrite or Nitrate ? One or the other or this vidio doesn't make sense.
This one is about nitrites and I have separate one on nitrates
Your comment doesn't make sense or you must be special. Either read the title of the video or listen to him speak . 😂😅
@TheHenryDuong Oh I am special, I know. Maybe the narrator got tougne tied talking about nitrite and nitrate.
Great information. Thanks.
You bet!
