1:00 The horror in his voice is so high that it sounds like even the voice actor is afraid of what they're putting him through. 2:08 OH NO! Jon, don't do that!!! Oh god...
Epic new theory: Jon was reincarnated into Sonic. Actually, no, I think that Jon and Sonic are the same person. Have you ever seen them in the same room together? No, because they're the same.
It's because Jim Davis had almost nothing to do with Garfield And Friends--the writers were free to do what they wanted. And that's why it was on the air for seven years.
Personally, I think Garfield from this era (both the comic and cartoon during the 80’s and 90’s) is genuinely funny. Modern Garfield is as exciting as a piece of toast. I was a huge Garfield fan as a kid, and still revisit the content from that era. The strip and the newer animated content have completely lost that edge that made it so appealing. Although I will admit you can only so many jokes about eating lasagna and hating Mondays before they get stale.
@@crystaleevee1334 Not to mention--and this was completely out of everyone's control--even Frank Welker, the greatest voice actor alive today, could not perfectly capture Garfield's attitude in his voice the way Lorenzo Music could. But Lorenzo died of cancer in August 2001.
@@crystaleevee1334 Exactly the same for me. I also noticed a few reoccurring characters and bits dropped from the rotation, like Irma who I always enjoyed. And heck, Jim doesn't even work on his own comic anymore. I gave up on new content when it turned canon Liz wanted to be Jon's girlfriend for real. Half the fun left was what insane sort of dates Jon would find. I'll revisit old Garfield, but any interest in it otherwise has deteriorated.
@@MortalAnonymous I actually don’t mind the idea of Jon and Liz making it official. I remember a statement Jim made somewhere that he felt that it was time for Jon to settle down after being in the dating game for so long, which I agree with. Granted I haven’t been regularly keeping up with the strip since the two hooked up, but I felt the dynamic had comedic potential. A perfect classic straight man/funny man style relationship, like the time the two of them went on that date and Jon looked more ridiculous as it progressed along. That was hilarious! Unfortunately, from the modern strips I’ve read, it’s just been mostly generic and dull greeting card fodder. (Sigh)
garfield is such a weird, liminal feeling series to me ever since r/imsorryjon took off seeing this stuff and the man slowly going nuts throughout the clips is just… weird
This feels like an old 12 ~ 14 year old RUclips video which would've had an extremely high number of views and comments dating back to that time. There's always such an indescribable feeling these old cartoons gave off, it's nostalgia but a certain type of nostalgia if there could be sub categories: even in the early 2000s these types of cartoons where still airing reruns on TV. It's basically feeling nostalgia for a time period you weren't even born in, a time where you didn't exist just yet but still it makes you nostalgic regardless of such.
I love how Garfield is completely silent in all of these
