- The PATH of EXILE SURVIVAL GUIDE 2.0 is a full game walkthrough and guide for beginners to the 2.0 version of PoE: The Awakening. This guide not only covers how to complete the quests and get to endgame, but also how to progress a build, obtain gear, build wealth and gain a deep understanding of Path of Exile's mechanics. I don't want to help new players just survive in Path of Exile - I want to help THRIVE in it! I'll be sharing 3 years worth of gameplay experience and knowledge in this walkthrough, so hopefully even my more experienced viewers will get something out of it too!
In Chapter 1 of the Path of Exile Survival Guide 2.0 I give a bit of an overview of Path of Exile, explain what league to play for your first time, cover the controls and options of the game and I discuss flask and combat mechanics necessary for you to thrive in Wraeclast.
Bosses & Zones covered in Chapter 1 include Twilight Strand (Hillock), The Coast (Fire Fury) and Tidal Island (Hailrake).

Bonus PoE Tip for Chapter 1: Keep Moving! Just like in real life it's harder to hit a moving target. If you move between attacks and avoid staying in one place too long you will avoid the vast majority of incoming damage. There's no shame in a tactical repositioning!

The first time you moused over the skill tree, I remembered my first time staring at it in open beta and just having a rush of "Oh, wow, this game is going to be huge..."
Here I am, two and a half years later and a couple thousand hours or more in, and I get that same feeling. Every time I start a new character, it's a new journey.

I loved the borderlands boss intro text. And I didn't know you could quickly apply passives by control clicking so that was nice to earn.

I'm a closed beta player. You just taught me 2 things. The control click on the passive tree, and selling transmute shards. I thank you! Also, I looove your loot filter. Has made my leveling so much smoother. Almost to maps! I play slow.

Yup, let's you get a feel for just running in circles. How much fun is that. Anyone who has never logged in and watched this video will see a total lack of FUN and just avoid the game.
Sometimes i wish i could go back few years ago when i first tried Path of Exile. All the hype, all the brain storming and learning about this game. It was magical. The only other game that gave me such magical feeling was Diablo 2. So i can imagine just like diablo2, this game, after many more years will still be one of the best games i have ever played.
And Ziggy, you keep surprising me with your dedication and work for PoE community, keep it up ;)
You stay as one of my favorite RUclipsrs for Path of Exile. You aren't just showing some gameplay of things or Streamrecordings, you also help beginners get into the game while being entertaining (I do believe Hillock only tied in the 3rd Wraeclast Wrestling Worldchampionship with Brutus :P)

this guide started off very strict and straight to the point but then it got chill as fuck while still teaching you the basics. I dig it.

Now i have(had) more then 7 lvl 90 charachters, killed shaper, and rushing to the breach lords :D u helped me a lot with your builds and i think u are the best poe youtuber! Hey Ziggy! just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work you've put into these video's to help the community. I just got into PoE (Late to the party) and these have really helped me get a better grasp on the game as for a new player it can be a little overwhelming.

Really nice video Ziggy :) I'm actually one of the few who typically criticizes your videos, but I think you really nailed this one: covering every detail and aspect of early leveling, from the point of view of someone who doesn't know anything about the game. Really well done :)
I have a suggestion, idk if you'll agree with me, but here goes: How about a 15-20 seconds preview of the topics you'll be covering in the video, for the next videos?
For example, in the next video, you could have a quick 20 ish seconds where you say (arbitrarily) "In this episode, we'll be covering: attributes and attribute requirements, Passive point efficiency, weapon upgrades and duping items Kappa"
Something like that if people want to come back to the video later on to answer a question, they don't have to look around too much :)
Luís F I think that's a great suggestion! I'll try and think of an elegant solution for incorporating a bit of an overview - it might just be as simple as at the start me saying what our next goals are at the start of the vid.

YouGotLikesFromMe always glad to hear I've helped people discover mechanics like that! It's literally a life saver when it stops your character from running around and through a doorway to attack a mob that was out of line of sight!
Thank you so much for this guide. I've been playing PoE since the original beta but I still struggle to this day with making successful characters. Every time I get to merciless, my character falls apart. Right now I have a character at level 75 and struggling to do maps.

The skill 'tree' looks more like a skill amazon rainforest. Can somebody explain to me the need for such a complicated thing to be implemented in the game?
+GamingMeerkat Flexibility and customization. It looks worse than it is, once you learn what a build needs and how the pieces fit together it makes a lot more sense and is less confronting. I can tell you that after 4000 hours of the game one of my fav things to do still is to plan passive trees for different builds.

+GamingMeerkat The first time I saw a stats+skills maze like this was in Final Fantasy X. I don't know where it originates from though. Some people like it and I did have a poster with the entire FFX 'Skill Maze' printed on it.

This reminds me of your very old LA BM ranger serie guides. It was the first time I saw your videos and got sucked into PoE. Later LA was so nerfed that noone used this anymore. The irony is you started new survival serie and LA got buffed in 2,0 and is again commonly used ^^

Very well made video. I'm just getting into the game, and as you know, it can seem daunting at first. Your tutorial shows that the game is very learnable, actually pretty simple, and lets you do some really fun and amazing things. I can see how the flasks become a philosophy over time, and weapons serve only as vehicles for the gems/gem combos. Really cool. I also find it interesting that your spells are tangible gems you carry. It gives spell casting a different kind of vibe than if you just had a list of spells on a menu. I want to catch them all... Overall, fantastic game, and I can't believe it was a random, free download from steam.

This is a game I've been wanting to get into for a while now. I'm downloading it right now. I use to play Diablo 2 Hardcore mode all the time. I heard this game also has hardcore and ladder resets. Sounds awesome!
Saku taku It has a very active hardcore community and 3-4 month challenge leagues (ladders). You're in for a treat.
I'm actually playing it right now. First time on hardcore lol. Currently level 18 Witch. I really hope I'm not fucking up my passive abilities too bad. Probably won't matter anyway since I'll die before i make it to high level.
