The Kara Command Grab is really hard to do and it's incredibly impressive that TM can do it so consistently

Newbie fighting game player here... what's a Kara Command Grab?
@@SWong37 It's not nearly that simple because the qcb+mp gives you slaps, so just doing hcb will give you overlapping input windows and hitting mp will trigger the slaps first. You need to do 212321(pause)4+mp~hk. So basically, you open only the qcb window, delay opening the hcb window, then wait for the qcb window to close before going to 4 to get the b+mp for kara while the command grab window is still active to cancel into command grab.
Yeah, it's complicated.
@@SirGrimly The kara technique is used to extend your special move's or super move's range. In 3rd Strike's case, you do it by cancelling the first frame of a normal with either a throw, the universal overhead, and specials and supers as mentioned before.
11:27 - Q's throw box is in the air for a few frames after crouching. He can even be air thrown when he does this.
11:20 Q is in the air after standing from crouch for 3 frames. You can air throw him but not throw him on the ground.
Don't play fighting games, don't know what's going on beyond who's winning. This is still damn fun to watch. Something about Q is entertaining too, so different.

@@Oh-Ben Yeah, I don't know the terms like meaty or appreciate the amazing back and forth dance and use of space by both experts, but he's a funny guy and engaging. I've become a bit of a fan of his on RUclips these last few months, despite knowing about him since his daigo Evo moment and his legendary status as an Evo champ.
@@nefariousnilbog In Street Fighter, and most fighting games when you press an attack the move has three phases. Startup, contact, and recovery. Each part is measured in a short time frame know as a frame. Usually moves connect immediately l so you hit the first part. But on wake-up for example when getting up you are immune so you can time it, and hit a later active frame. This means that you get to act sooner than normal which is absurdly useful in fighting games.
Essentially it's timing a move so that after you can move quickly to get a better combo, better pressure, or better mixups after. It can also make unsafe moves possible to throw out.

One of my favorite pastimes has become watching the 3rd Strike highlights and rounds channel, and as a lover of robotic characters in fighting games it's been a treat to catch glimpses of TM and closely talented challengers. It's great seeing Q shine and give others the hands; Still daring to hope they add him in SFVI, distinct from G.

I love me some 3rd Strike. Especially when characters like Q perform. I love Q, Nerco and Makoto.
Q is a really interesting character. Part rekka, part grappler, controls like a rock, needs to taunt to multiple times to access health reserves, huge, slow target with devastating traps and combos .

I love when players uses low tier characters and show what can they do, it's so much fun.
the beauty here is that Q is deemed as the lowest in the tier list yet is capable of a lot of things, which shows you that the low tiers in 3rd Strike are a menace in their own right compared to other games where low tiers are just...bad picks.

That Kara Command Grab by Q is OD and is very hard to execute, much more to setup it up.
From a Japanese tutorial video that I watched, the best players really set it up from an air to air hit near the corner. Also, the usual cue they're going to do it is they suddenly crouch from outta nowhere.

I don't comment a lot but thank you for uploading videos against Q. I think he's a fascinating low tier character and watching magicians work him against you (You who I consider is the gold standard of fighting players) is always amazing.

11:32 If I remember correctly, this is a "bug". When you crouch, there are frames where you cannot be thrown. It's as if you duck the throw. 10 years ago, TM was known to do this, and the timing is so specific that the other players could not do it as consistently as he. Not even Kuroda could do this as well as TM. I remember this coming up a couple of times in GGPO chat when the whole lobby would spectate the pro players.
Maybe I'm too old school but Kuroda is always #1 Q in my heart

TM is the legend of the kara command grab. I've seen the man do 4 of them in a row without his opponent being able to do anything. Also I love how he taunts at the beginning of the round like 80% of the time lol. You always know it's TM if the Q taunts as soon as the round begins.

11:20 its not jump cancel tech, its more simple than that. Q has throw invul frames during his crouch animation, so there are some good OS that beat throw and meaty low

There's a nice way for Chunli to do some nice damage . Usually you do medium spinning bird kick quickly ram hk into hyakureskyaku . IT comes out very fast . You deal more chip damage or you surprise him with some damages.
Q has a glich with his crouch to stand animation, think he is classed as airborne briefly so cant be thrown, but can be air thrown. Saw it recently in a TheoryFighter short.

With all due respect; this guy is definitely not the best Q player in the world.. there is another Japanese player named Kuroda who probably would have put up a much better fight than this dude; would definitely love to see you play against him if the chance ever arises. Kuroda is like the OG good Q player. Before I saw him, I didn't even think it was possible to be good with Q. He has some excellent highlight footage here on youtube. (Just read through the rest of the comments and really glad so many other people recognize him.. lmao)
TM is a legend. The fact you don't know him shows you don't follow 3S. Kuroda was the 1st high level Q but he's no longer the best.
