What an amazing video! I don't know of anyone's mentioned it, but there is a transparent grout that is for glass on glass mosaics. I hope that helps! 🙏
My opinion, only because you asked opinions- I would have derailed and changed to epoxy when you fell in love with the pumpkin after finishing the mosaic portion. For me, there is nothing wrong with straying from the journey.. we don’t have to learn everything the hard way. I am open to following the lead my project takes me, rather than always fighting with it to get it exactly my way. If any of that makes sense?! Absolutely love your art, and the lessons you teach ❤

I really liked it without any grout. But you gave me so many ideas and different looks that I could do and make it shine. Can't wait to try my own. I would like to see another video with the epoxy.
This so much fun. Wrapping up my first attempt. I'll be 70 in two months. I'll be making stained glass pieces until I die. The flow of the hot lead... Everything's ZEN. You really are all I need for a resource. Strong work.

I think she would have fun doing a mosaic with me and still feel successful making a glass craft. The only challenge I forsee is finding her a pair of gloves small enough to keep her from getting little cuts. Good to know ripple glass is not a good choice.
I like your comment about Wissmach glass. I live an hour away and was just there Saturday 10/15 for the clearance sale. Grabbed many sheets with most being 50% off. This mosaic looks cute but the grout wasn't needed. Your instructions were helpful and informative.

I took a class and they used a sheet adhesive and a heat gun to attach the glass to glass. Unfortunately, some of my glass pieces still got some of the grout underneath. I’m going to try another one with all of the tips that you shared… Thank you!

You can usually colour thinset with a Sharpie - May be worth a try if you don’t like the white. You then open up the world of different colour grouts for different areas 😉 I often mount the GonG mosaics I’ve done in a picture frame with a piece of mirror card and the wooden frame backing thingie it comes with, if standing it on a shelf. If hanging it on the wall away from a window, a proper piece of mirror.
I actually tried this in a panic last ditch effort to like it more. Lol. Unfortunately it did not work what so ever! The paint just comes right off the grout. Ive got plenty of footage trying to get it black and getting pissed. 😂🖤
@@MakenzieHallie Oh no! 😂 Maybe it could be because thinset is porous and hasn’t fully cured? I know I’ve read that it can be a pain to paint mortar. Depending on which brand it is it can take up to a month to fully cure. Hopefully you’ll be able to do something to make you like your project. It still looks great though!
I am going to use a starlite EVO crystal translucent epoxy grout once my piece is complete. I hope it will help distract from the few places you can see a bubble or whatever else I see wrong. Very intricate piece .
It’s a very cute design, and it’s your art. We’re just here to watch you create. I personally would have been fine with you not grouting. I hope you never feel like you have to do something against your creativity for a video. You make such incredible pieces, I’d watch paint dry with you, lol.
Black grout would have been beautiful. And also leaving it without grout to look good. But I think if you grounded I would do black. Also people have been putting resin in between their tiles. Thank you for doing this, it was very educational and interesting. Just discovered this video on my feed and loved it.
Your mosaic came out awesome. I agree that grout took away from the beauty of the finished look. I do a lot of glass on glass without using grout to replicate different organizations crest and symbols. I have to grind each piece but I end up with a clean completed piece. Your stained glass projects are always beautiful and detailed. I love your glass selections and lean towards a large volume of iridescents also. I keep forgetting to mention that I took your recommendation on using the Zepher Ring Saw. I have 2 Taurus and there is a water line in the Taurus. You can see It from the outside of the tank when you are adding the water.
Thats awesome! And unfortunately they removed the water mark, thats why mine doesnt have it! Ill deff be doing another glass on glass, but encasing it crystal clear this time!! 😂😂🖤🖤
It looks beautiful regardless. How you thought of using iridescent grout? Or diamond grout. There is a mosaic artist in Alexandria Virginia who uses that type of grout . When she displays her art against the window the grout is see through. I have tried it on a small project and it does look better. The unfortunate thing is that it’s quite expensive to compare with regular grout or thin set grout. The artist told me that’s the only type that she uses for glass on glass mosaic. I must say that the effect is spectacular. She also did a few by pouring resin in the gaps instead of grout. It gave the mosaic tiles a floating effect, but I looked the look of the iridescent grout better. Maybe you should give it a try. Great job. Thank you for sharing.
It really doesn’t look bad at all but I do also think a darker grout would look better. Also I would like to see one done with the epoxy once you recover from this one 😂. You really do have an eye for your craft and your designs are fantastic.

Loved, loved, loved your video. Thanks for sharing your mosaic project clear glass on glass. I think you're right when you said you liked the clear better without the colored grout. I agree with you! The edges of the clear glass are all it really needs with the light shining through. It is simply beautiful design/idea and really didn't need the grout. I enjoy your presentations that you are so honest as you proceed with your projects so we all can learn from your trials and "mistakes". Definitely no textured glass on the mosaic or the weld bond wash. Could using more clear glue on the clear glass then place the tiny glass pieces onto the glue using the glue as the grout? It would work as clear grout. Just a thought. Please do another G on G video but maybe Christmas. Please share all your Halloween decorations in your home. Please take a break though.... 🌸I think You Did a GREAT Piece !!! Personally I would not have minded if you had used the Silicone “Glue” to grout it. However, I learned a LOT from your demonstration either way 😘🥰❤️
Would you be able to add a thin layer of the silicone to the entire piece of glass first and then add the individual pieces on or would it dry too fast?
I couldnt believe the hour timer as the time lapse went on. At least you learned a bunch for next time. And it doesnt look bad, just could look better.
Boy, you are your worst critic! It's adorable! Cute, cute, cute! I really think you should have gone with your instincts on this one. If you didn't grout it, you would have liked it so much more. I thought it looked great either way but, it wasn't my project. It wasn't our project either. It's not that you weren't following through...you discovered at that point, it was perfect. Trust your artistic gut 😊 Your friend from Washington State 😃 Therese P.S. Did you get my suggestion on your next 3D project? An origami folded crane out of glass. I think they would be a perfect, not too hard, and they symbolize Peace. BUT.....I wish you would let us purchase the pattern.
I personally wouldn't have grouted it. I would have left it the way it was. You loved it that way, it would not have been a cop out. You don't always have to grout mosaics. 🙂 But it did come out cute, I wouldn't worry so much about the bubbles, people who look at it won't really notice them.
@@MakenzieHallie Just start with what you have envisioned. You were planning on grouting this one but when you were done, you liked it the way it was. Each piece speaks to you as you are doing it. Just go with the flow of it. The next one you do, you might get to the end and think it would look better grouted, so you grout it. There is also this grout I got, after watching a Treasury Road video about it, Crystal Evo, by Litokol, I haven't tried it yet as I'm not sure how to measure it out, it's two parts. It is a translucent grout. It takes on the colors of the glass it's around. I am planning on grouting my kitchen window box that I glass tiled the bottom in green iridescent. If I were you, I'd do another halloweeny one and just let it speak to you as you do it, you know there are no rules, only what your imagination and creativity dictate. 🙂 Good luck!! ❤
I think maybe a black grout would have made the whole thing pop. You could have just grouted the pumpkin and left the background alone because I agree I thought it looked great!
epoxy- the piece is amazing and i would be proud to hang it anywhere! but such a shame to loose the extra light refraction from all those cut edges. so much hard work- really appreciate the video thank you again🎃🎃🎃
Grout isn’t always a good idea! I teach mosaics and just fyi your piece is great but I would not have opted to grout! Also consider going on top of your piece with more glass covering the grout lines. It’ll really become 3D. Just do the pumpkin and his hat. Leave the background like it is. Just a suggestion. If you then put it in a window it will really pop.
Correct. That is why its frowned upon for mosaics period. However I was not anticipating the sheer amount of moisture inside the thin set mortar! Then doing a last ditch weldbond wash- already being water based, amplified the absorption for sure.
Hi gorgeous how are you wow ilove your very long Nails the black it very shiny ilove it and you do a great job on your videos love james♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹🌹😘😘😘♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰❤️❤️🥰♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
YOu could have definately NOT grouted it! Also you did NOT need to worry about the grout getting under the tiles. Try it! Also, you may not like it because the color of grout. I tend to use charcoal (dark gray).
Idiotically is a word Kenz… and it’s actually an adverb. If you’re making another one, on the next one, use the Ultra clear glue to fastened down the glass pieces. Don’t use the white glue and just use the black grout… freeze your video at 17:58 and look how good it looks with what looks like black grout, even with the clear glass. The moon should be a non-transparent yellow or gold and if you could make the hat a little darker in shade, that should make that G on G really POP… I used my color wheel and those are the colors that ended up coming together… Nice work on your first one…!
No way! Thats all you! Lol. If i do another, the ONLY thing changing is no grout what so ever and epoxy instead like i wanted. And i did use the clear glue to put down the glass pieces! 🖤
@@MakenzieHallie LOL ok Kenz... 12 hours is a lot of time to glue those those glass pieces down - Yikes - I did see you use the Ultra clear... I was just mentioning to also use it. You did a great job btw...

Could you have used translucent grout to get the look you wanted? Love watching your videos!
Is there such a thing? I didn't know that if there is
Boy, you are your worst critic! Trust your artistic gut 😊 Your friend from Washington State 😃 Therese
Definitely. The clear bubbles under the ripple clear glass look actually quite cool! I MUST do it again, but do it how i would want to. 🖤
Do you have a link to the tweezers you used?
I think maybe a black grout would have made the whole thing pop. You could have just grouted the pumpkin and left the background alone because I agree I thought it looked great!
I have a question not pertaining to this video. Can I use double sided conductive adhesive foil tape as regular foil tape?. I confused. Please help!
Hm. Ya know what Edythe, i straight up dont know!! Lol! Im sorry!!!
epoxy- the piece is amazing and i would be proud to hang it anywhere! but such a shame to loose the extra light refraction from all those cut edges. so much hard work- really appreciate the video
thank you again🎃🎃🎃
Exactly my thoughts Michael. The grout no matter what color, just stamps out the shine. Epoxy next!!! 🖤
@@MakenzieHallie lookin forward to the next one!😀
🙏🙏🖤🖤
What is the exact name of glue I will buy
Grout isn’t always a good idea! I teach mosaics and just fyi your piece is great but I would not have opted to grout! Also consider going on top of your piece with more glass covering the grout lines. It’ll really become 3D. Just do the pumpkin and his hat. Leave the background like it is. Just a suggestion. If you then put it in a window it will really pop.
I agree it looked better clear
Unfortunately Welbond does pick up moisture. It takes a long time for it to totally cure.
Correct. That is why its frowned upon for mosaics period. However I was not anticipating the sheer amount of moisture inside the thin set mortar! Then doing a last ditch weldbond wash- already being water based, amplified the absorption for sure.
I really liked it without the grout
Do another one your way!
Yes, next one will be with epoxy for sure!!
You can stain the grout!
Better with no grout…just Epoxie…but great lesson for us all…
🌸(?) Could you have used the Epoxy on the Background and used Grout over the Image ?
Jaecy~

Thank you as always James!

I sent you a picture of my very first GOG (glass on glass) I used Stone Coat Resin…
I sent it through messenger
Yes, no texture on the back of the glass when you do glass on glass.
Been fine if you hadn't grouted it. There is nothing wrong changing your mind from your original plan. Sometimes we have to adapt.
You don't have to grout glass on glass. May glass artists leave them ungrouted.
Please do epoxy!!!!
Love the detailed info, BUT the very fast monotone speaking lady is stressing me out trying to keep up with her.
Hello, you must be new here. My name is Makenzie, not lady. Thats the first time ive ever heard im too fast and monotone so im not sure how to take it. Sorry? 😂 Hope you still learned something!!
So scary nails🙉🙉🙈🙈
