As a singer all my life , I can appreciate this sweet collaboration. My husband thought it was too much singing at the same time..
But I explained to him, " its like having a bunch of guys jam out on guitars doing different things.. some leads some choruses.. whatever sounds good ". He then said .. " oh , I understand! Cool ! ".

alright for those who say this isn't a Christian song. the first is about the story of David. he committed adultery and had the husband sent to the front lines of the battle to die so that he could take her as his wife. After all was said he repented from a cold and broken place in his life and praised God with his hallelujah. the second verse is about Samson and Delilah. The Lord gave Samson insurmountable strength but was given one file, never cut his hear or he'll lose all of his strength. so Delilah was sent to figure out how Samson got his strength through devious and flirtatious ways and like a man Samson fell deep into her trap of temptation and cut his hair, thus the lyrics she tied you to her kitchen chair and held you down and cut her hair. At that moment, he was at the coldest and most broken point of his life at that point he asked God for one last feat of strength to take down the columns and kill the people along with him. so two stories right out of the Bible in two verses in this song. if that's not Christian idk what is. Also, God created sex. yes you heard me right. God created sex to be done within the confines of marriage. we as humans and sinners abuse it and have sex in ways God created it not to be done. However, at when we are cold and broken and repent God forgives us. Therefore, allowing us to show his love. so yes it might be about sex a little bit but it's also a song that is very Christian.

Saying sex should be reserved for marriage is silly. If two people care deeply about one another but aren't yet prepared to make the vows of marriage there's no reason for them to not have sex. Sure, it's their right to wait if they want to, but not everybody is willing to wait until that point.
Jace Fincham what Shawn Gronseth was referring to wasn’t “what people are willing to do” but biblically when sex is acceptable. And whether you feel it is silly or not it is what is biblical.

This is beautiful. Not just because they're all amazing singers but because they're ladies of God and they sing with passion. This makes the song way more beautiful than any other cover.

WOW! What a blessing! Even if you don't listen to the words at first, you can sense the presence of the Lord on this group. VERY gifted women. The Lord definitely gifted them from on high! Each has their own style, but blend so well. This song can only get better the more they sing it together as its not easy improvising with four voices.

This is my favorite cover of this song. You can feel the raw passion in their voices and that is what music is supposed to have. I'm not Christian but these women have spoken to me through this song in another form. Faith is a powerful and resilient thing. Keep up the wonderful work, ladies!

It is a shame to see how many still believe in the great secular/sacred divide. All things belong to God. These women of God recognize that the heart of a person struggles and often reaches the pit of deep despair. You who are condemning them for this song fail to realize that non believers will see this and then it will inspire them to look up more songs by these women. We have to be real as Christians. Sometimes Hallelujah comes from a dark and cold place. It's not always a happy one but one that the soul utters because it has to. Because it knows no other way to cry unto the Lord. Be real not judgmental. This story displays men of the bible who faced real downfalls and in the mist cried out to God. Sex is a real thing and it was created by God. It's not evil. Lust is and it broke these men. That's what the song is saying. Don't miss the forest for the trees here people. God can speak through any music. Often He speaks more through "secular" music than through self-proclaimed "Christian music". Just because it carries the label and sounds like worshipping doesn't mean it is. These is a song about soul searching. There is nothing evil in that. The devil doesn't deserve so much credit here. Y'all are crediting him with something that is not his. Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions.

It's more about appreciating the gentle tone with which you seem to warn people to be careful in their judgments. We can't ever get away from the fact that the ONLY reason we're spared from the wrath, judgment, and punishment we deserve is Christ Jesus/The Cross. Full Stop. It's NOTHING we do or don't do.

As Christians we tend to keep God in a box, only open on Sunday. that is why the world is in such a state as it is, too religious. forgetting Jesus ate and died for the sinners. Am I the only person who cares that this is not a Christian song? If you read the lyrics, it is clearly about sex and heartbreak....Love is a cold and broken hallelujah?" when we say "hallelujah" we are praising Jesus who's love is anything but cold and broken so I am very disappointed not only to see these Christian artists singing this song at a worship event, but also the comments about how God is praising them for this song. Bottom line, it's not a song that is in any way worshipping Jesus and I dont think it's something He would be proud of. Not to mention the writer Leonard Cohen, is a self proclaimed Buddhist.

I thought I was the only one who cared about this. In the bible says that everything we do, we have to do to praise God and this includes the songs we listen or play.

Who put you in charge of what music pleases God? Had not God wanted us to feel like this song make us feel. He'd not have given Us those feelings. The Man that wrote this is a very Godly man, and a man created in His image.
You are not the authority on what glorifies God and don't try to be.

You realize that the bible is full of all that stuff, pride, lust, self glorification...also, this song uses complete biblical context. I get that this song means something different to everyone, but I think this song is a true cry of humility...telling God "I'm sorry for sinning. I'm sorry. Thank you so much for forgiving me in this brokenness that I brought upon myself. Now please, let your will be done in my life." Christianity isn't perfection. It's admitting that you're wrong, God is right, and you are going to try your very best to pursue and serve him and his will.
My only complaint is that they completely changed the fourth verse. Since that one is pretty obviously talking about sex, they could have just skipped it and gone to the fifth verse.

I see what you're saying, but I think they were just getting a little excited and decided to be a little unprofessional just because they were all getting into it. I don't they they were just trying to compete with each other, although it kind of sounds that way.
I think they're just a passionate group of very talented women that aren't ashamed to sing their hearts out for God. Is that so bad? Considering they're all Christian singers, I think they're well enough acquainted with The Lord to know that they don't need to out-sing others to be beautiful in his eyes.
Just as Evelina Mis mentioned, it's way too much. Individually, great singers. But I, as a musician, can tell it's all done by the fly and not rehearsed; therefore, sounding like cacophonous when should be treated gently and authentically passionate.

Well yea they probably spontaneously decided to do a cover. And it was Holy Spirit led so it doesn't have to be perfect but you can definitely feel his presence in their voices.

My two "role models" for lack of a better term, are Kari Jobe, and Kim Walker-Smith. I am a worship leader in a VERY small church and I desperately want to see that grow into thousands!! I love worshiping with God's people! Praise the Lord for creating powerful women of God, like these in this video :)
