I know this is an old video and people have probably figured it out by now, but Playstyles are extremely important for defenders. Some of the animations you can get with a Seal-out, if they have Bruiser+ or even only Bruiser are just nuts. Same thing with Anticipate+ and Standing Tackles.
I've gone from being a good player on previous FIFA's to getting shockingly bombarded in some games on this one got a feeling this video is the one i needed to find.... Thanks
It's impossible to defend in this year's game, it's just discouraging Any small wrong move and you get a goal, a goalkeeper who doesn't know how to jump or catch the ball, and players who just stand without moving or helping the defenders to protect the goal FIFA should solve this in the next update of the game, we can't play like this
I had some serious leaks in my defense at world class level. Once I found your video, I applied these tips in the first match and I played so well, I had to check the settings to make sure i'm still at world class! Thanks a lot!
Was playing champions qualifying yesterday and it Literally turned into a different game. Felt like it was on slow Mo with everyone playing like bronze players
I just got back into it and I have to completely agree with you. It makes the game extremely difficult to want to play if I'm being honest. FIFA 22s defending felt super crisp, I wish they went back to that even though that game had it's major flaws too
It's actually diabolical.. The amount of times I tackle someone for it to go straight back the same player or another one near by is actually laughable.
The way defenders don't react, stand still or literally just watch their opponent fly by is so unrealistic. I have no idea why they changed or pretty much turned off legacy defending in EA FC 24. It's not a fun game to play anymore.

try it this way when you tackle as you get close to the opponent, press X then immediately hold the R1+ circle for a moment. This way the x will automatically get you closer to the opponent to then r1+ circle will win you the ball. it works like magic against all sorts of dribbling.
Had the same feeling . Was in Elite Division now cant get past Div7 . Im not enjoying this gameplay had to tell myself have to accept the changes and learn so thank you for letting me know im not the only 1... will try this out soonest and comment further
Honestly, play the computer on legendary or ultimate difficulty for a few games then go play online. You'll learn how to anticipate movements. The keys to defending, regardless of what settings you have it on, are positioning to intercept passing lanes and stopping a run, utilizing help defense, and just anticipating when someone is going to change direction in their dribbling. Circular strafing also disrupts a person's dribble move timing. Guys like to go to the end line inside the box and pass it back towards middle. Cut that lane off and he'll be forced to shoot it right at the goalies feet. Double tap and hold RB and your teammates will tightly mark inside the box so you can focus on your matchup. Always expect a change in direction if your defender is keeping pace with the dribbler. It's better to lose the race on the sidelines than to give up the middle.

For me, 2 player pressing has improved my defending the most. Works great when wingers try to get past close to the side line. With 2 player pressing they are surrounded and cannot move or pass in any direction, once they get close enough.
I'm seriously confused. Every tutorial bangs on about shoulder charges. I have Advanced Defending on, I press the A button and i think i might get maybe 3 shoulder charges a match which either deflect straight to the opposition or is a foul. I'm losing tournament matches 10 - 0 on World Class where in Fifa23 I was winning seasons on Legendary. I also press A to do a simple pass and the game will randomly do a clearing kick or even a shot on goal from 80 yards away just when pressing the A button.

The worst fifa I have played the whole of my life. The trough ball is ultimately terrible. Instead of through balls going to your players, the game directs the through balls to your opponent as if you intentionally gave them those passes. Naturally, through balls mainly goes to your intended target unless the opponent makes effort to cut the pass but in fifa that's not the case. They reversed what through balls looks like in real life: through balls are passess that have 95% percent chance of going to your opponent.
Im gonna let you into a lil secret... L1+R1 through balls And if youre wondering where the driven pass went its L1+R1 lob pass (great for pinging it out to wingers quicker)
Fc is garbage why the gotta make the game harder to play taking the fun out the game so many different things to do worse when you under pressure from the opponent

Changing the right stick switching sensitivity is a HUGE game changer. And the hard tackle / shoulder barge now makes my opponent know I mean business. Any way to change players not jumping to block the ball on set pieces, freezing when a ball is crossing in front of them, taking to steps away from the man they're covering or the right backs just running to the side when a play is moving center and there's no opponent winger?
Every game ends up in a unrealistic score like 6-4, 5-3, 10-0. There are way too many goals from both sides. I play on Legendary, 5min, increased shot error and GK ability. Also lowered Acc. and Sprint speed for both sides to make the game feel slower. I much rather have games like 1-0, 2-2. But when I score the AI has to score back immediately and vice versa. It’s an never ending chain of goal scoring madness like it is basketball lmao. Really boring. Maybe I should try Ultimate?

I just switched from PES to fifa after 12 plus years and i have no idea how to defend. I dont think adaptation is possible. Im used to pressing the X and my defender would automatically run and block the attack. What a waste of $70 😅

Any tips on how to keep possession i seem to just get so pressured by my opponent and they just take the ball off my feet and every pass gets intercepted. I dont mind getting beat but when half your passes go the complete opposite direction its very frustrating
Can this be shown on career mode? Defending against the AI is totally different than playing against people online. In 5 seasons of career mode ive had only about 10 clean sheets. Ive tried all the techniques , tactics and formations and it does not work at all. The AI always dances past you one way or another 😫its completely unplayable and has been since day one

Nah, I can't do this. If you jockey, they just run straight past you. If you try to tackle, they just skill move around it... Yeah, you'll make some tackles from time to time but only in between getting opened up multiple times beforehand. Shoulder barging just ends up with them still retrieving the ball more often than not. None of this is helping. I either win 15-0 on a weaker difficulty or lose 15-0 it's just ridiculous.
For context, I just put cpu slider settings on 1 for sprint speed and 1 for acceleration and literally 5 times in a row after restarting the match, the cpu passed on kick off to a player who just runs past all of my players and scores. They cannot be disposessed off the ball.
how is it possible that the opponent attacks me at once with 3-4 players and that very aggressively? how to set my players to behave like that? or is there cheating?

I played for 15 years. This Fc24 is the worst ever. Defending makes you get nervous brakedowns. I tried everything and nothing works.

You can play against CPU in career mode with a weak team on World Class difficulty and improve slowly to legendary and then ultimate

Any tips on how to keep possession i seem to just get so pressured by my opponent and they just take the ball off my feet and every pass gets intercepted. I dont mind getting beat but when half your passes go the complete opposite direction its very frustrating
Can this be shown on career mode? Defending against the AI is totally different than playing against people online.
In 5 seasons of career mode ive had only about 10 clean sheets. Ive tried all the techniques , tactics and formations and it does not work at all. The AI always dances past you one way or another 😫its completely unplayable and has been since day one

Nah, I can't do this. If you jockey, they just run straight past you. If you try to tackle, they just skill move around it... Yeah, you'll make some tackles from time to time but only in between getting opened up multiple times beforehand. Shoulder barging just ends up with them still retrieving the ball more often than not. None of this is helping. I either win 15-0 on a weaker difficulty or lose 15-0 it's just ridiculous.
For context, I just put cpu slider settings on 1 for sprint speed and 1 for acceleration and literally 5 times in a row after restarting the match, the cpu passed on kick off to a player who just runs past all of my players and scores. They cannot be disposessed off the ball.
how is it possible that the opponent attacks me at once with 3-4 players and that very aggressively? how to set my players to behave like that? or is there cheating?
