Hiking outdoors is a great fun and a living philosophy, but as you said: Everything can happen. Not only in winter time, a mistake or an accident can be a death trap. I also learned from a past bad experience which brought me to my limits and caused fear of death and a trauma (which I have overcome but I will never forget it). Be always careful! However, it is better to spend time in nature and to proceed learning and observing nature than to degrade by only sitting on a sofa.
Yes, we were traumatized by it too. But, you'll be glad to know, Burn is back to her bossy, always-hungry self. Huskies can be stubborn, and my hope is that she learned her lesson and isn't looking for event.
This is great advice. When something goes wrong, especially a dramatic injury, it's easy to let panic lead to poor decisions and wrong turns. Your sage wisdom is spot on! Thanks for sharing your story. I'm so glad that the whole family is safe and well :)
Yes, it was a struggle to keep my head, but then I realized that panic would not make the situation any better, and if I got injured, it would be an even greater mess. Thank you for watching.
It sure is interesting how situations that have zero humor in them, can be laugh worthy after the fact. I love how you philosophize, and contemplate perspective on your experiences.
Wow what an adventure. Glad to know all has ended well. Smart lessons learned. I myself had a learning experience recently that involved a fall, a painful elbow (nothing broken) and a smart decision to end the 3 day trip after just one night. Super smart decision on my part. It was hard to give up the trip but I will now live healthy to have another backpacking adventure.
Brother, that was one hell of a trip. your wife ,your son, and your dog. Geez Ray, that must have been tough on you, everyone in pain . Thank God you didn't get injured as well. I'm very happy all are healing well. send my good wishes to all. Dwayne
So glad to hear you all made it through that crazy day and are back doing what you love! Something I'm sure you'll always recall! Love that song at the end. Please share name and artist. And that waterfall - oh WOW!
Hi Maureen, Yes we're back to doing what we love, but had to return early from a hike yesterday when we came across a grizzly on the trail. We decided not to push our luck by walking ahead even though the bear seemed to have run off the trail. I subscribe to Audiio so I can use their music on my channel. The song you like is called Temple by RockoWheeler.
Thank you. I shoot a lot of scenic videos that don't always make it into my episodes, so I kind of like putting together a minute of two of music and video shots at the end. Thanks for sticking with me. I appreciate it.
Nope, can't beat that story! Thankfully. Porkys are the bane of dog owners; I hope your Burn has learned his lesson and isn't out for revenge! We had one that never learned and had to be on the short leash.
Thank you Karen. Our vet said there are two types of dogs: one that learns from the experience, and one that seeks revenge. I think Burn has learned her lesson, but still I wonder....

My thoughts exactly. I'll take my chances in the backcountry versus vegetating on the sofa, any day of the week. Thank you for watching.
The shot of those quills in your pup's face brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the good advice, glad all turned out okay.

That picture of your dog was so sad to see. 😢 Poor pup. I am glad everything turned out alright for all.
Burn would appreciate your empathy. She's doing very well now. We pulled quills from her for a couple of weeks. It was a lesson learned the hard way.
Gotta love those pokypine! Glad everyone is OK. Being a retired veterinarian I have pulled many thousands of quills over the years!
I bet you have. My hope is Burn learned her lesson.
Oh my word! Glad everyone is fine. What a day!
Thank you. Happy Trails!

Thank you Glen. It's the Monty Python, only a flesh wound, in me. Happy Trails, my friend!
Type 2 fun!

I'm glad you're okay. The good news is those tough trips make us wiser the next time we're in the backcountry. Experience is knowledge. Happy Trails!

Thanks Dwayne. I've been through worse, but this one was kind of crazy. However, it didn't take us long to laugh about our bad day.

What a day!🦋❤️
Yes, it was, and now it makes a good story with a few lessons thrown in.
