um ok idk how old you are but when you get to a certain age your parents start to expect you to do things without them asking if you still live with them because they want you to start practicing living like they aren’t around. Even if they are. Because they won’t be all the time. Like when you finally move out, stay on campus at a college or when they sadly die. I’m goin though it right now with my parents. Adulthood- Annoying - yes but it’s very true.

Teachers don't 'ask' you to do the homework you're assigned, but they expect it to be done. Your job doesn't 'ask' you to be there on time, but they expect it to be done. The landlord or mortgage company doesn't 'ask' you to pay the rent/note every month, but they expect it to be done. If you're too slow at a certain age to recognize that things can be fixed in your own house, you deserve to get talked to like a child.
