      I'm 72 and out of country. Had to take the full meal deal at DMV California for our collector car insurance (we had just retired mom's license at 94, UNDEFEATED) So I took the big block Oldsmobile: the drive examiner asked if I was doing the road test...............for the BUS license. We had a great time!! Passed, of course. I got ONE question wrong: in Calif. you as the driver are only respon. for under 18 to put seatbelts on; in Canada the driver has to make sure ALL have seat belts. Fun Fact we had to ADD a passenger side mirror on the Olds: it didn't come with one in the sixties!!! Every Brit sports car on the pass. side would sound like driving over a beer can!! What was that????

      I agree with you, seniors don't take-over streets with sideshows. The majority of DUI's are younger drivers. Statistics reveal that the 25 year old age group are the most at risk for causing fatal accidents. With teens and those with new driver's licenses having the most high risk for accidents. It's also the younger generation more apt to NOT buckle-up!

    • @Jesus_equals_LOVEnForgviness
      @Jesus_equals_LOVEnForgviness 7 месяцев назад +18

      Yes there needs to be tighter oversight for younger drivers, and the age should be raised to 18. However, the big difference is young drivers have all the cognitive and motor skills necessary. They simply often make poor decisions. But with oversight, they can make better decisions. Unfortunately, it's that elderly people often lack the motor and cognitive abilities in the first place (things we will not get back) and that's why there must be more checks as we get older.

      I agree, but the tests should still be more stringent for elderly drivers than for young drivers. Can't say the same for the young drivers - actually its the opposite; they still have the ability to get better.

      My bad experiences are with those who tail-gate. All have been adults---mainly older women, although many have been older men. On our long two-lane highway i have to use when going to town, there is no way to shake off tail-gaters, even if I try to increase my speed to over 10-miles over the limit. They always manage to stay right on my rear bumper. I refuse to get into an argument with them, knowing that I might be risking my life if they were to pull out a firearm in retaliation. I have a permit to carry, but I usually travel without any defensive weapon. I am a life member of the NRA and am well-versed in self-defense with a firearm.

      should be notified by you about her mental instability. You should also ask your physician to inform the DMV that your niece is a threat when behind the steering wheel and that DMV should NOT re-issue her license.
