@@Jeanne7549Yes, curious why it wasn’t done earlier as Julian really wanted to get to know his dad, and was, just before he passed. Something is very wrong here, and it sounds like you know something about it…
The sad thing for Julian is that he was always an outsider to his dad John to Yoko, but at least he got closer together with Sean his half brother. Paul was there to watch Julian from the background while raising his family and kids. Sadly Julian never married after being that "outsider" for many years has made it hard for anyone to get close to him romantically.
In the mid 1970's my best friend Sally and her brother were in the Arrivals lounge of Heathrow or Gatwick , waiting to greet their Mum from a flight from Canada. Low and behold Paul McCartney was one of the passengers on her Mum's flight. She rushed to her brother, in disbelief ( she was around 14 years old). Paul leaned over as he walked past and said quietly to her "Yeh, and I'm looking at YOU too!" Was I jealous!!!
What John did to Julian was disgusting, towards the end it seemed that maybe John was starting to incorporate him in his life more. The damage had been done however, and we’ll never know how that would’ve worked out. Hope Julian finds peace and love in his life.
Assuming Paul allowed it, it would make a great documentary of sorts. Instead of Bill Maher and Julian, how about just watching Paul and Julian talking about John for 2 or 3 hours, interspersed with photos and clips. I bet, if Paul had the time, he would agree to do it.

I hope Julian and Paul sit down and have a long talk soon. Neither one is getting any younger. Julian is a lot more than just John Lennon's son. The way dear old dad more or less abandoned him has to be painful.
Despite both of them having different accents from John, you can recognize his voice in both Julian and Sean. Probably a banal fact but with the Lennon voice being such a recognizable brand it fascinates me.
I briefly stalked Julian Lennon in New Orleans one night in 1999... i asked him to write me a fable, he asked me how to spell "Ingrid." It was enchanting. :) Paul should record his John stories in the studio, like a personal recording just for Julian--that way the stories are preserved, even if the meet-up doesn't happen.
Poor bugger. Of course he loved his dad but to never escape the fact that he's John-Lennon's-Son must be tiring. I'm sure Paul sees Julian as an individual and not just an extension of his old friend.
His tune "too late for goodbyes" was not only an excellent tune, but he looked & sounded so much like his pa. Even in this convo his mannerisms, tone & his looks are quite reminiscent to his pa. He seems humble, q genuinely good chap.
Julian seems like a really genuine guy and he has written some great stuff as well. BTW, Bill, I saw your performance on "Murder She Wrote" from 1989 this morning. You're hair was AWESOME!!
@@patricksmith4424 Julian has a voice like his father's because he is John's son. Has nothing to do with where he lived. You're thinking about an accent, not the sound of a voice.
Going back to his airport story, I wonder if the real reason Paul was startled was because he heard what sounded -- if only for a second -- like his dead friend.
Hey Julian, do not wait longer for those stories Uncle Paul keeps for you if you really care. It could be healing for both and a gift you give to each other. ❤
Unfortunately John had dysfunctional biological parents. This highly sensitive artist was deeply affected by his childhood experiences. This defined his character. Julian is lucky to have a nurturing good mother. His attitude and personality is better than his father.
Julian was such a great artist in his own right. Too late for goodbyes and stick around are fantastic songs. Stick around had a great music video too. It's very 80s lol. Should've been music video of the year, except for it came out at a similar time to peter gabriel's sledge hammer, if memory serves me correctly.🤔
He's done much better songs than 'Too Late For Goodbyes'. That was his crappy first single. It's about time this guy got married. We need more Beatle offspring...or descendants.
I met Julian Lennon in 1984. He was performing in a small club and I worked my way up to the stage. The was no barriers. He was so nice and so genuine and gave a terrific show besides!
Many years ago, I went to a Beatles show called Beatlerama. Many interesting people were there including Pete Best, George Harrison sister Louise, Stewart Sutcliffe sister, who brought a lot of his artwork along for us to see. He was so talented. The one I liked the most was Julian’s mom Cynthia. Such a lovely, charming, warm lady. I am not surprised that he turned out as well as he did. Boo hiss to his father. he missed out on having a relationship with a son who seems like a really great person. That’s his loss.
I saw a Tweet or maybe a Facebook post from Julian some time back with a picture of Paul and the caption "look who I found at the airport. Uncle Paul!" I wonder if it was the same day. It was the first time I saw him refer to Paul as "Uncle" and I found it strangely touching. Now I'm sad to hear that they aren't really that close.
What a weird fucking thing to say to a guy. "I'm not going to compare you to your father by absolutely comparing you to your father. Oh and by the way you turned out alright!"
You know Bill, it might be extra difficult for Paul…for the same reason you brought up about seeing so much of the beautiful pure John in Julian. And as he said, he had his mom. …hmm I’d love for them to give it a go

He looks so much like his mom. Seems like a genuine down-to-earth person.
Uncle Paul has untold stories? Tell the son, Paul, before its too late!
I love that he's Uncle Paul❤️
Maybe he has them written down for him. You never know.
Segurisimo que Paul tiene cientos de historias para contar de todos los Beatles y de él mismo😅 pero eso núnca ocurrirá,sólo se saben las respetuosas, las inconvenientes jamás se sabrán. Y hace muy bien.
Uncle Paul told many stories in the books "The Memoirs of Billy Shears" and "Billy's Back!". Please read those books and do your research: You will find that Sir Paul McCarthy is actually William Shepard or Billy Shears! Wake up!
@@Jeanne7549Yes, curious why it wasn’t done earlier as Julian really wanted to get to know his dad, and was, just before he passed. Something is very wrong here, and it sounds like you know something about it…
Julian is a truly talented guy in his own right.
He got closer to his father later on and they built a bond with each and other made up for lost time.
Macca was never in the background for Julian after 1968. Never. Until they connected after John's death. This is all made up fantasy.
His voice is really similar to his dads.
You knew Bill Maher's dad?
It’s the Liverpool accent that does it.
You should listen his tune "much too late for good-byes"
It’s as if…they are related 😮
It’s the British accent.
Don't wait ... Plan to meet up with Paul asap 🥰
Appears to be steadily calm with humility as a sidekick. Julian certainly should make time, and Paul in kind to pass on the stories.
JULIAN IS A VERY GOOD PERSON GOD BLESS HIM❤
Yes he is . He also knows that he shouldn’t type in all caps.
Neat story. Delia Morris
She was 14 ?? You sure it wasn't Gary Glitter ??
What John did to Julian was disgusting, towards the end it seemed that maybe John was starting to incorporate him in his life more. The damage had been done however, and we’ll never know how that would’ve worked out. Hope Julian finds peace and love in his life.
Maybe it’s painful for Paul to just sit and talk with him? 😢I don’t know. Hopefully they’ll do it soon ❤
Assuming Paul allowed it, it would make a great documentary of sorts. Instead of Bill Maher and Julian, how about just watching Paul and Julian talking about John for 2 or 3 hours, interspersed with photos and clips. I bet, if Paul had the time, he would agree to do it.
Julian is 60 years old and Sean is 48 years old. They have both outlived their Dad age wise who died at 40.
I've always wondered what John would have done - I could easily see him touring with Willie and Dylan - wouldn't that be a time!
Julian is 60, Sean Ono Lennon is 48.
That's rayshallist 💀
Sorry dont know what that word means@@christophercooper6731
Maybe John would have formed a super group like George did with the Travelling Wilburys.WE wont know now.@@mirrorblue100
Yup.
wow hes a genuine nice bloke and you can see his dad soo much in him
i have lots of respect for julian!! john lost his mother at 17 julian lost his father at 17 and both lost there fathers at young ages. john all about forgot about julian around 3-4 and johns father left him around 3-4
julian looks so much like his dad, john would be proud aswell as his mother who passed in 2015
he is right, julian turned out great,
Julian looks so much like John, it's uncanny. Despite being abandoned by John, he's turned out to be a really decent, down to earth guy.
I love Julian!He is in my heart!❤❤❤
I love Julian..such a lovely man.Loved his mother as well.
I hope Julian and Paul sit down and have a long talk soon. Neither one is getting any younger. Julian is a lot more than just John Lennon's son. The way dear old dad more or less abandoned him has to be painful.
Julian, and Paul should do a record together..
It would be so cool to see George's son and julian and Paul and Ringo together playing 🙏
One of the good one's, Julian.
Despite both of them having different accents from John, you can recognize his voice in both Julian and Sean.
Probably a banal fact but with the Lennon voice being such a recognizable brand it fascinates me.
Not a "banal" fact. Mpore like an "anal" fact.
Julian could hear those stories from Paul and write a book about his father. I’m sure there’d be a lot of people interested in reading that book
I briefly stalked Julian Lennon in New Orleans one night in 1999... i asked him to write me a fable, he asked me how to spell "Ingrid." It was enchanting. :)
Paul should record his John stories in the studio, like a personal recording just for Julian--that way the stories are preserved, even if the meet-up doesn't happen.
In the spirit of ongoing harassment, I admit I'm also officially interested in Julian's (possible) p*ssy photos! ;)
Hopefully Julian schedules the time with Paul to hear the stories about his dad - Should never put that kind of stuff off.
Let's hope the 81 year old Macca still has his memory intact and he doesn't have to make stuff up.
"Valotte" was really beautiful though.
Love those songs of his and also Stick Around and Saltwater
@@alrivers2297 For real!
Which is nothing like John. He abandoned Julian and had been abusive to Cynthia. Not a good man by any metric.
@@madeleinegrayson8372 👈 judgmental person, who has never committed a sin
I'd love to hear Paul tell some John stories.
Julian seems like a really genuine guy and he has written some great stuff as well. BTW, Bill, I saw your performance on "Murder She Wrote" from 1989 this morning. You're hair was AWESOME!!
Is that the one where he set a barn on fire?
@@lagarde2011 YES!!!!
I've seen Bill Maher on a couple of Murder She Wrote episodes. It's kind of surreal. But the barn one is the best. And his hair is epic.
I saw Paul in the balcony section of Carnegie hall at a keith jarrett concert. Paul could have bought the whole place i was in shock
Since Julian's voice is very close to his father's voice, I'd love it if Julian and Paul would record some songs together.
It's strange that he does, as I don't think he ever lived in Liverpool. However Cynthia was so he probably picked up quite a bit from her.
@@patricksmith4424 Julian has a voice like his father's because he is John's son. Has nothing to do with where he lived. You're thinking about an accent, not the sound of a voice.
He certainly does sound like John.
Physical traits and mental acuity are passed from father to son. Fascinating that a manner of speaking can be genetic as well.
Going back to his airport story, I wonder if the real reason Paul was startled was because he heard what sounded -- if only for a second -- like his dead friend.
Nice to hear Julian still having a bit of a Liverpool accent.
I’ve met Julian a few times he’s extremely nice.
Great choice to have Julian - such a genuinely good guy!
Hey Julian, do not wait longer for those stories Uncle Paul keeps for you if you really care. It could be healing for both and a gift you give to each other. ❤
Thank you so very much for sharing.
His Dad wrote songs about Love, but really didn’t show Love to his own son. That’s so sad.❤️
Give it a rest already.
Unfortunately John had dysfunctional biological parents. This highly sensitive artist was deeply affected by his childhood experiences. This defined his character. Julian is lucky to have a nurturing good mother. His attitude and personality is better than his father.
Most humans engage in contradictory behavior. "Life's hard, get a helmet"🙄
@@michaelparylak5649Got that one from Candice Owens, did you lol 😂😂😂😂
@@salterrae2525But John had burdens we'll never know, so pack it in!
I’m 25 and enjoy your insights Bill Maher, keep up the good work!
We need more Beatle offspring...or descendants.
he is
@@gettinhungrig8806 Isn't it interesting that most of the sons never got married or had children?
"LOOSE LIPS 👄 BE SINK'N SHIP'S" n stuff,,,,,,,, so , there's that too.
Besides,,,,, at this point ,,,, what's not known about the
"fab 4" 😎😎😎😎 !!!!
What about " Valotte"? That was beautiful!
I met Julian Lennon in 1984. He was performing in a small club and I worked my way up to the stage. The was no barriers. He was so nice and so genuine and gave a terrific show besides!
Paul, I hope you see this. Set up some time with Julian and tell him the stories!
This is the ONLY time I could listen to Bill.
i see so much of John in Julian😔
I love ❤️ this man. Sending love to you ❤️ Julian
I like him he seems to be a good soul
Many years ago, I went to a Beatles show called Beatlerama. Many interesting people were there including Pete Best, George Harrison sister Louise, Stewart Sutcliffe sister, who brought a lot of his artwork along for us to see. He was so talented. The one I liked the most was Julian’s mom Cynthia. Such a lovely, charming, warm lady. I am not surprised that he turned out as well as he did. Boo hiss to his father. he missed out on having a relationship with a son who seems like a really great person. That’s his loss.
I always thought it would be cool if Julian, Paul and Ringo would record some songs together
and Dhani Harrison, he's a good guitarist and singer.
"Uncle Paul."
That's how I think of all four of them, too. They've played much of a role in my life, even from afar.
Hope Paul and Julian connect at some point. It would probably be healing them.
All the best. Amazing people
I think he means that they are close, but not frecuent. Like an old friend kinda of a thing
Hey Jude. GOD bless you with all the best in life!✌️
What a weird fucking thing to say to a guy. "I'm not going to compare you to your father by absolutely comparing you to your father. Oh and by the way you turned out alright!"
He kept wanting to talk trash about John, and then - just barely - stopping himself.
Saw Paul in concert in 2022. He is still an amazing performer.
Julian's music he created in the 80s is really really good
You know Bill, it might be extra difficult for Paul…for the same reason you brought up about seeing so much of the beautiful pure John in Julian. And as he said, he had his mom. …hmm I’d love for them to give it a go
I found out that we make time for the things that matter most. What we spend our time on is what we value. I've always liked julian. Hope it happens.
Julian is SO COOL, LOVE YOU, MAN And I love your music!
Wish Paul and Julian make a song together before time runs out.
Very cool idea.
Cynthia did a beautiful job of raising him, he's a credit to her and I'm sure she's proud of him x
A lot of people do that thing where they say they're gonna get together soon and they may actually mean it at the time . . . but it just never happens. Sad really.
Life gets in the way a lot. I’m not even famous and my life is busy enough.
