The Johnny and Billy sketch particularly resonates for me as I had that procedure as a 7 year old! Can't remember what I told the the other kids at school, no plaster casts for them to write on😳😆

In those days the UK was driven by the hysteria of only 4 TV channels, nearly as many newspapers & the height of technology was the Sega Mega Drive, BT phonebox cards & fax machines. If someone on an episode of Casualty had an incident with Aspestos, for the next six months news, media, Central Weekend, everywhere talked about dangers of Aspestos & everyone was sh*t scared of Aspestos. It would also find it's way into comedy. It's the same here with different things like Rottweilers, Skoda's etc.
