- In this video I will show you how to make one of my most productive TROLLING Rigs for Spring Time Striped Bass Trolling. This rig also works wonders on Kingfish , Tuna , Wahoo (but must add wire) , Bluefish and all other desired big game fish..

This rig worked great! Trolled off Rockaway in 35’ and went 3 for 3 on stripers. 2 hit the rapala and one hit the spoon. My mojos didn’t get touched. Thanks!
Awesome. Glad it worked out and thank you for letting me know.
Cool and helpful stuff! Looking forward to spring! 😁🎣
Me toooooo. The cold is not my friend
@@FishingLongIsland 🤣
Very good tip. Combining two deadly lures together
Like a pair of herring that got out of the school
Great idea. Gonna try on grouper here in Florida. You'r a fishing genius
Did it work?
Watched the video Thursday 10-21-2021 and tied up some rigs. Trolled Friday at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. Caught a double fresh water striper on plug and perch on spoon. Thanks for the tip.
That is awesome and thank you for letting me know that the rig worked out well for you.
Thanks for sharing! I am going to give this a try and report back!
Thank you and definitely send photo n report.
Good stuff Joey...haven’t really fished raritan from the boat but I could imagine this rig being very effective in the shallow water 🤙🏻
This year u will
@@FishingLongIsland thanks no doubt 🎣🎣
I remember using this rig outside the inlet catching one after another. Fun times..
Me tooo
you know you're getting old and addicted to fishing, when he says "you need to get a 3-way" and your mind is still focused on fishing. :/
Haha. Truth.
Thanks for the video. I think this will be killer for the Great Lakes. I’ll prolly try it for brown trout for next week. I’ll try to remember to come update you
Updating if anyone cares in the future. It works pretty well. I ran original rapalas, scatter raps and husky jerks for crank baits. All caught fish. Only one fish on the spoon above though, although the spoon bite for brown trout near me has not been good anyway. Thanks for the idea! I’ll use it for king salmon this summer. I love the chance for a double of smaller fish
I am so so happy to hear it worked out. Thank you for watching and thank you for trying out the rig and of course your comments as well.
🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@FishingLongIsland my plan is to run this rig off a stern planer way behind my spread with 10 colors of leadcore for line. We unfortunately have to get down pretty deep sometimes here in the warmer months.
It will work.
Good video, as usual. Any other spoon or second lure options to go either the Rapala?
Yes there are many but that purple is what gets them
Great video, appreciate the advice. Which Rapala is this there are so many? Saltwater?
X-rap magnum 20 and the white was the 30
Great tip! Do you think a flutter spoon would work as well as the squid jig / Clark spoon?
I think it would work just fine
I use the same setup but I use any diver on bottom and a mepps or bayou boogie on top. Kansas
There are definitely many applications to use this rig
I’m going to try this on a reservoir I go to in eastern Tennessee. Will be going in mid-June, try a 30 or 40 rapala.
Send me photos
Thanks for the idea. Wondering what size squid spoon that is?
Probably around a 4-4.5”
Thanks for the info. How fast are you trolling this? Also Do you troll this with the tide?
Between3 & 4 mph. But look at the tip of the rod. It will shake when lure is swimming correctly
Yeah and if you pick anything up it goes flat . I like the 30 bunker or white . Pulled up at 47” on the housatonic 2 night ago 9/2/22
Cartland Hollow core is the best line always check your guides and inspect them frequently
My bad cortland
Thank you 🙏🏼
I would like to try this out. Have you ever caught king fish on this setup and would a fish running crazy when hooked put pressure on the other lure and lose it? I can’t imagine two fish at once on this setup. Thanks for sharing
I’ve had two bass on the rig no issues. This will definitely catch kings. But with those teeth maybe bump up the pound test and use fluro
@@FishingLongIsland I’m going to try this. It makes sense using the lure as a simple way to get the spoon down without using a planer.
Is there a model number for the x raps are they just called “20”? Is the length of the lure determined by the depth rating? Thanks for the reply
@@jimdrechsel3611 depth. 20,25,30
Can you troll the rig slow between 2-3knots? Will the rapala run deep? Run right?
Yes Yiu can.
Would love to see video of this rig in action …. Is there any?
I do not have one but I will try to make one
Is there any action video of this rig available on your channel?
Not at this time.
Gonna try it for Hudson river spawn run. What's name of spoon? Thanks
I believe it was Clark spoons
@@FishingLongIsland Thank you
So you use this in the back? Doesn’t it run too deep?
Not at all. Works great in rairitan
Will try this NE Florida for kings thanks for making this vid. I'll update if I have any luck, I'm sure it'll get crushed
@diyoutdoors6675 please let me know and send pictures.
@FishingLongIsland Will do! I'll make a video.
