Andam looks like what we call bracken in Australia, it grows abundantly and is viewed as a weed. Our tree ferns(to buy) come with a registration certificate to prove it isn't poached. Great video, ferns finally!
What's nice about your channel is that even though I'm in France your videos mostly come out during the day for me, which is just perfect. Thank you, for the content and the moment of publication!
Have finally just started having success with my ferns after two years of attempts, so this was perfectly timed to build my knowledge more! Will definitely be following Wina as well, thanks for introducing us to her.
I like ferns they are beautiful. What is find ferns interesting are the shapes of their leaves, the designs, and the way they grow on trees, rocks, water etc. Thanks for this video ,Sean!
Oh my goodness I’ve been following her on Instagram for a while also! So happy to see you collaborate 😊 Please do more fern episodes! In Japan, Platycerium is extremely popular (amongst Platycerium enthusiasts 😂).
Thank youuu. If you live in Japan and have content ideas, please DM me on instagram! As I will be visiting Japan next month. My instagram is @bo.tan.ist
❤❤❤ I want every fern i see. Some of them i have a hard time keeping alive ( maidenhair and holly fern ) especially through the winter. You two are a great team.
Thanks for Wina for all the information on ferns. I also love ferns so much. One interesting thing is that we eat fern(we call it Gosari and it's one of bibimbop ingredients)in Korea 😄. There is a kind of fern we can eat. It's delicious and nutritious at the same time. Thanks for sharing.
What a pleasure to watch ! 🙂 Thank you both! I saw the vegetative propagation of a treefern in episode 5 of 'The Victorian Flower Garden' a while ago . If you are curious...
Hello, I purchased a Autumn Fern Oct of 2022. Only because of the beautiful coloring. I've never been interested in Ferns because of the difficulty ( I 've heard) of maintaining them. I literally was fussy with it this morn. because I couldn't understand why it was constantly getting crispy tips & there u were with a episode about Ferns. The air circulation was definitely worth noting because I recently place a air circulation fan near it. Look forward to more content..Thank U
@@onlyplants Hello, Thank U for ur response. Its not air conditioning its a fan that circulates the air. I have it positioned upward so the air can circulate thru out the rm. Thank U
Wonderful episode, I learned something about why ferns don't grow well for me - never tried using a fan on them when they begin to crisp up. I love them but I have killed my last one. What the two of you called "andam" is what the growers of very expensive aroids are now putting in their moss poles instead of sphagnum moss. There are some plant tubers who grow the thousand dollar plus aroids and they all recommend what they call "tree fern fiber." It retails for about 50 dollars US per pound so even their substrate is as nigh end as possible. 🤣
I love ferns, but the only ones I can grow are the birds nest varieties. My house is way to dry for the more tender leaf varieties. Outside in the summer months no problem but bring them inside and they turn into crispy critters. ❄️💚🙃 Heck I turn into a crispy critter in the winter months! ❄️💚🙃
I remember Wina a lot; I think us Indonesians noticed her, in the midst of Aroid Craze, she was posting about ferns with all the incredibly intricate latin names and being able to ID them all. I’m very fond of ferns; I think it’s cuz they have this lacy, delicate appearance, and they have this tendency to sway in the winds that makes a perfect object to look at after a long day, it definitely provides much needed movement in the garden too. However, my family always complained whenever I purchase ferns (it grows everywhere here, on the trees, on the streets, basically a weed here); they’d say I have purchased a weed back to home 😂😂 add with the fact that ferns can be hard to take care of has made me turned off to raise ferns. But after seeing Wina’s posts and her social media, Idk if I can use another word than being inspired, but let’s just say it definitely made me be able to stick to my opinion and made me appreciates ferns more.
Wina is so sweet and very fond of ferns..but she's learning about this..i want to see more pictures and they cientific names..can it be possible Sean? Have a nice time
Yes thats something I hope to achieve in the near future as I want to collect their scientific names too. Might be cool to do a visually pleasing episode showing different foliage and names.
Am living in the tropical land of Jamaica,we got a lot here, the one that I'm seeing mostly in the forest, the root that stands up is smooth to the touch, what species is that type
I sworn off ferns Years ago and this kinda made me wanna go back on that ! Wina is so talented and so smart please tell me she sells those fern prints 🥺

Wow, that's exactly the kind of video for me! Unfortunately not many people seem to be into ferns but I love them so much! Thank you for making this 😊

Ohhh yeah they would hate air conditioning. Some ferns can actually take a bit lower humidity than others

Nice discussion. Dicksonia is another tree fern which can be propagated by cutting off the top and rooting it.
Whoaaa I just googled it. Looks good

Wooh consider tenting them in a bag for humidity over winter? The key is to let them not die back completely so you can bring them back in spring.
Interesting episode! I love ferns and bryophytes in general! 😊
Thank youu

I like ferns also and have some collections

Oh dear I only have one fern which is a boston fern i think. They are difficult to find where I live.
Try to adjust the care… usually its not enough light. 😀
Being from Washington state…. Ferns are weeds here. I’d be curious to find out what amazing species we have round.
❤️❤️
There are 40 species of ferns native to the Pacific Northwest 😊
Some new ferns arrived yesterday and my cat seem to be interested to chomp on the tips..
🥲
I might try me a another fern this summer, had one before and it grew so much that I didn't know how to handle that and I got rid of it. Lol
Whoops they are fun to rehabilitate… can be divided etc too. 😀 they are one of those plants that can surprisingly take a bit of abuse
Tangerang Raya hadir!!!!
Haha 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Link for the second episode please
If you type in “onlyplants fern” it should come up near the top. 😀
Love fern’s but don’t have the right humidity for them in my house!
A few have adapted to live in lower humidity, see if you can find some in your area to try again 😀 they are great once you get them going.
Elevation!
Yes. 😝
