    di indonesia suplir atau paku2an jarang dilirik karena bisa tumbuh dimana saja dan dimedia apapun. padahal kalau ditata dengan benar disebuah taman bisa menghasilkan ekosistem yang sangat tropis khas hutan hujan asia. terima kasih sean dan wina telah membahas fern aku juga pecinta fern😊

    Andam looks like what we call bracken in Australia, it grows abundantly and is viewed as a weed. Our tree ferns(to buy) come with a registration certificate to prove it isn't poached. Great video, ferns finally!

    Hello, I purchased a Autumn Fern Oct of 2022. Only because of the beautiful coloring. I've never been interested in Ferns because of the difficulty ( I 've heard) of maintaining them. I literally was fussy with it this morn. because I couldn't understand why it was constantly getting crispy tips & there u were with a episode about Ferns. The air circulation was definitely worth noting because I recently place a air circulation fan near it. Look forward to more content..Thank U

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  Год назад +1

      Ohhh yeah they would hate air conditioning. Some ferns can actually take a bit lower humidity than others

    • @dorothymcintosh-sims597

      @@onlyplants Hello, Thank U for ur response. Its not air conditioning its a fan that circulates the air. I have it positioned upward so the air can circulate thru out the rm. Thank U

    Wonderful episode, I learned something about why ferns don't grow well for me - never tried using a fan on them when they begin to crisp up. I love them but I have killed my last one.What the two of you called "andam" is what the growers of very expensive aroids are now putting in their moss poles instead of sphagnum moss. There are some plant tubers who grow the thousand dollar plus aroids and they all recommend what they call "tree fern fiber." It retails for about 50 dollars US per pound so even their substrate is as nigh end as possible. 🤣

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  Год назад

      Whoaaa maybe we should grow this substrate here and export it to the US lol.

    I love ferns, but the only ones I can grow are the birds nest varieties. My house is way to dry for the more tender leaf varieties. Outside in the summer months no problem but bring them inside and they turn into crispy critters. ❄️💚🙃 Heck I turn into a crispy critter in the winter months! ❄️💚🙃

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  Год назад +1

      Wooh consider tenting them in a bag for humidity over winter? The key is to let them not die back completely so you can bring them back in spring.

    I remember Wina a lot; I think us Indonesians noticed her, in the midst of Aroid Craze, she was posting about ferns with all the incredibly intricate latin names and being able to ID them all.
    I’m very fond of ferns; I think it’s cuz they have this lacy, delicate appearance, and they have this tendency to sway in the winds that makes a perfect object to look at after a long day, it definitely provides much needed movement in the garden too.
    However, my family always complained whenever I purchase ferns (it grows everywhere here, on the trees, on the streets, basically a weed here); they’d say I have purchased a weed back to home 😂😂 add with the fact that ferns can be hard to take care of has made me turned off to raise ferns.
    But after seeing Wina’s posts and her social media, Idk if I can use another word than being inspired, but let’s just say it definitely made me be able to stick to my opinion and made me appreciates ferns more.
