I so appreciate these videos and in this specific case the insight on how Jesus may have been a bit too much for some folks so using Mary as an intermediary and Cimabue either picked it up or it was part of the benefactor input. Good stuff.

The part about the irrationality of our perspectives had me like 🤯 but I did get it after a bit, lol.
Dr. Zucker's "What is that?!" was too funny. ❤ I do agree with the idea of the prophets being a "foundation" for the faith. It makes me think of "upon this rock, I will build..."
I'm not sure how I feel about the wise child versus traditional baby version of Christ..
I wouldn't have expected wood, gold leaf, and tempera! What an artist and craftsman Cimabue was...
I would've loved to see this golden glow in its element, but I'm sure it's still stunning to behold now.

Once again, we have a MUCH better video: ruclips.net/video/ZAY4mF1mNlc/видео.html
When you are done with that, I suggest: ruclips.net/video/_votOtQdeLY/видео.html
      and finally: ruclips.net/video/0CWpG3GVtA8/видео.html
All three are in the same room in Uffizi Museum in Florence and all are the same subject and type and each reacts to the others.

@@smarthistory-art-history I've seen all 3 of those videos. 🤭 It seems there's only a generous handful that I haven't seen!
Thank you, though. A newbie passing through will definitely appreciate those links too. ❤️

As a struggling art history student doing the LC, this helps a bunch, but the video itself isnt very digestable in terms of the language used

Sorry to hear that, can you give us a sense of what didn't work for you more specifically?

Smarthistory. art, history, conversation. Id say the level of english overall. The video works great as a discussion piece, but i find it hard to keep track of the terms mentioned. Dont get me wrong though, its still one of the best videos for studying art history, just not suited for LC(LeavingCert Ireland)/and non native speakers

James, thanks for being in touch. We do our best to explain unusual words but we also understand that art history's terminology can be a challenge and the videos do have a good deal of specialized vocabulary. Here is one suggestion, try listing any words or phrases that don't make sense that you come across in the videos. You can then look them up or just ask us here in the comments. I am sure many other students would be grateful if you pointed out difficult passages and we will do our best to respond.
