I can imagine when you have a love of fossil hunting you can't just go for a walk on a rocky beach to enjoy just the walk and the scenery without eyeballing every rock you see.
@@MamlamboFossils I found 5 stone projectiles in my Kentucky friends front flower garden, they'd never seen, while I visited from Montana. Knowing the geological time periods as you exhibit is very useful to fossil hunting.
Lol walking back down to pick up ur camera. How about putting it on a RC truck, with big monster Tyers? Then all u have to do is drive it back up to u. 😄 Love from Australia have a great Xmas 💪🇦🇺👍
Wild guess on the mystery bone...maybe a knuckle bone from a plesiosaur? IDK, it's still kind of early here, not much caffeine in system yet, but saw the notification and had to click! Always nice little crabs, and gorgeous scenery. Thank you for taking us along, nice break from being house-bound!
The Pleistocene bone looks like a mammalian ankle bone. Maybe from a deer, but definitely a mammalian ankle bone. Great video and even greater finds! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the adventure and seeing some amazing scenery ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you maybe doing next ! Please have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! Doing well here in Kansas .
The pleistocene bone (10:25) looks to me like a part of a vertebra. The two concave sides (next to each other) are the lower part of the vertebral body. Great video with awesome camera perspectives 👍🏻🤠
you are such a pleasant young man. I love your videos. I wish you would show more prepped finds.. I would love to see what it looks like after you take it from the matrix!..
Hey bro I live in chch. I know you probably get asked this all the time. But if you ever do a Canterbury hunt /scavange and wouldn't mind a tag along. I'd be so keen to come and learn a bit with you.. I'm a literal noob.
The only thing I would like you to do when you find something is that you leave a video link so we can go see you prep the object or just to see it after you prepped it . You do do it sometimes but you have many videos whereby you found something really interesting and that's the last we heard about it. It would be nice to see more follow up videos.
@@MamlamboFossils Oh wow. Where was this from, besides from the Hell Creek Formation? I love all the helpful information that comes from the fossils in the Hell Creek Formation. Dinosaur DNA, unfossilized Triceratops horns, and so much more. Also, the Hell Creek has a new Dinosaur to its paleobiota, Trierachuncus prairiensis. Nice long name to just translat into Captain Hook, of the prairie. How have you been Mamlambo?
@@MamlamboFossils Awesome, glad you are. Hmm, interesting. I will have to find it. Sounds like a good show to watch. So, I ask any Paleontology this question. What would be your favorite dinosaur out of the bunch?
Wow you are so lucky to live near such an awesome location, I live on the Texas gulf coast but nothing like that near here. Imagine what is inside the cliff untouched and unweathered. I know you have had this asked a million times but how can you tell when there is something inside one of those concretions, is just something showing or can you tell something is inside by other means like color, shape etc? I think that cliff goes for miles inland :) Glad you are enjoying the videos! I usually look for markings on the outside of the concretion. For crabs, you can see the crab legs sticking out, for other fossils you can see bits of bone. Keep well!
I'm interested to know the reference book you use to identify the types of bones you have been collecting: whale, dolphin, etc. bones. Thanks for the great videos!
Hi Bill! Good question, at the moment I rely on some paleontologists from New Zealand museums as well "The Field Guide to New Zealand Geology" by Jocelyn Thornton and heaps of googling. There is no definitive guide to fossils from my area that I have found yet.
Watching you find fossils is fun & informative. Really enjoyed the video! 👍❤️ Today is the first day of spring in the U.S. 💐 What season is it in your neck of the woods? 🇳🇿
I love the optimistic attitude = "There has to be a shark's tooth in there"... a really positive mindset!
Thanks Julian! One day there's going to be a meg in there. Chat soon!

Yip, that's very true. I even look at the landscaping rocks at the garden center :D

It's a bit young for cretaceous animals like the plesiosaur. Perhaps something like a seal or whale though 👍
That looked like a relaxing `chill` day out enjoying the hunt and being out and about. Thank you for sharing always enjoying your videos!
My pleasure SareJen! It was very relaxing, sometimes its good to just take it slow and have a look around!

Thanks for the info! It does look similar to the sheep ankle bones I have found, awesome! I'll carry on looking into it!

Good finds for a afternoon hunt. Keep up the great work Mamlambo!
Thanks! Will do!
I’m with you brother! Love those stones and fossils. Thanks!
Thanks Suzi!
Amazing! A lot of shapes.
Thanks Baruch!
Your video made me motivated to go hunt today ...it's just above freezing here in Indiana. I'll look for those shark teeth from Maryland.
Awesome! Did you find much??
Creek was flooded...did some scouting for summer. All I have is channels like yours 😞
Once again I find myself in the wrong hemisphere thanks to the majestic magic of your video.
Glad you enjoyed the magnificent majesticness of this magical media :D
Great finds, that nautaloid even though broken was beautiful. It kind of looked like a dragonfly or butterfly or something
It was beautiful! I thought I had brought it home, must have not in the end 😁
Wonderful very interesting , thanks for the posting
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video mate 😊😊 I would have like to see the nautilus shell complete and prepped. Next time maybe
After my last nautilus prep, I am not in a hurry to try another one :)
1:06 top left, after the two larger rocks, there's a small one that looks unlike any other in the shot...wonder what that'd be.
I'll go have a look next time I am out there :)
Awesome video and great finds.
Glad you enjoyed! Stay well Margie!

What a claw. That was a whopper crab. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!
Thanks Brett! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you too!

Awesome! I didn't know that! I watched some cool fossils being found in Hell Creek on TV last night, a juvenile Triceratops horn :)

Hahahaah I do look like one
🤘always fun to watch
Thanks Mojo!
The little bone looks like a bassioccipital bone. The one that connects the vertebrae to the back of the skull. Might be something else tho 🤷♂️
Thanks Ethan, I had a quick look online and it does look very much like that. Great eye you have there!

Have you found ammonites?
Not yet! I'm in the right age deposits sometime but so far none
I wonder if that bit of bone is a cetacean atlas vertebrae dens? Just guessing…
It could be!
I would love to look at a fossil and be able to tell what it is!
Me too! Most of the time it's guessing and figuring out for me :D
Pozdrawiam 👍
Thanks!
Why are there so many crabs in New Zealand?
I always wonder the same thing!
Seeing no dislikes is so satisfying
Hahaha I didn't notice :D That's cool :)
Why does Australia have ZERO fossils on its beaches ?????
They do have some fossils, I've seen a few good ones come out of Australia
