Ego Is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday is a phenomenal thought-provoking book. The book uses a variety of approaches, including historical figures and events, to illustrate how ego can lead to failure in individuals, organizations, and politics. Holiday's definition of ego is a negative sense of self-importance, conceit, and self-centeredness that disregards others. He argues that ego can distort successes and failures because it's subjective, and can cause people to blame others when things go wrong.
MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING
The book Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl is one of the kind that will disturb you. And for Viktor, the only way to answer this question was to think about the future. According to him, the way a prisoner imagined the future affected his longevity. Once a prisoner gave up on their future, their actions in the present started to immediately drag them into the futureless reality they imagined. Suffering is part of the human experience. There is no way around it. Of course (and thankfully) we don’t all have to go through the same experience. But nevertheless we are going to experience suffering. And when we do there will always be this question haunting us. Why am I going through this ?

This book an illuminating book if you are caught up in the grip of Resistance. Its all about understanding resistance, realizing the effects of creative blocks, and overcoming them by becoming true professionals. You see, we have all faced some kind of rut, or block - “writer’s block”, “painter’s block”, “designer’s block” - basically, if you can name a creative profession, it has a block associated with it. We often make the mistake of thinking that this resistance is external - for example, my work environment is so noisy, or, my boss is the worst, or, my job is so boring nowadays, or even, the weather’s not good today. No, resistance is completely internal - it is self-generated and self-perpetuated. And this very resistance will resort to any means to keep you from doing your work.
