My first RC warbird experience (& CRASH 😲🤦🏼♀️)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- In this video, I fly an RC warbird for the first time - the new 750mm (30") H-King F4U Corsair, which features Hobbyking's 6 Axis ORX Flight Stabilizer. I'd consider myself a "beginner-mediate" pilot and this model was a challenge for me, but definitely a step in progression for my flight journey. And yes, crashing is part of that!
A few things I learned:
- Don't throttle up too fast on take-off (or the model will torque to the left). Also would not suggest on a windy day!
- Hand launch the first few flights
- Needed some nose weight, so I ended up using a 1300 mAh battery (otherwise it might need some stick on weights in the nose)
- Don't fly too slow (or it may stall)
Spare parts should be available a little later in the spring according to HK.
Thank you to Hobbyking who supplied product for this review. Views are my own.
**Disclaimer: For the first release of these, the stabilizer that comes pre-installed will need to be replaced with an updated one, which will come included with your order.

Yes I kind of felt bad for her when she crashed.we all crashed from time to time that is all part of flying airplanes.. you keep on going girl .. to get good keep on flying don't never stop... Before you know it you're going to be an ACE!!
Ohhh.. Yesss! We love warbirds.. 😍
I can't get the smile off my face either! Everyone crashes, everyone... the more you fly, the more experience you gain, the bigger the smiles get. Always keep this in mind- when inverted, press the stick, not your luck!
When flying upside down down becomes up, and up becomes expensive.
best advice....gorilla glue has put more than one plane back together for me....I think my HH super cub is 30% glue now and still flying.
@@keithlucas6260 it's great stuff
You must know another about planes. I know alot about planes too! And cars. But I know nothing about the engines. Still trying to learn about em.
Agreed, call me Crash
ruclips.net/channel/UCcZfULPpmqyZxjOi8dfmdEg
Carrier landings are described as a "controlled crash", so nice job! Keeping a little extra speed especially in the turns is important in a warbird to avoid wingtip stalls. You'll get used to them, but they will always be a little more challenging to fly (except maybe the T-28 trainer). Have fun!👍😆
they are called warbirds for a reason. When these things were built they were going up against the Zero of Japan. Very quick, Very, Very nimble and agile. The planes that faced them had to be on the same level. They were designed to be extremely high performance and that is why only our best pilots were assigned to this plane, the P38,P47,and, of course, the P51. They were NOT designed for unskilled pilots and THAT is why there were a lot more guys flying transports, bombers and everything else that was slower and less delicate. The fact you got it back on the ground after just a little wing rash speaks volumes. CONGRATS!!!!
as a RC Tank Guy I say: "Good Job" !! the Stabilizer Device is a good Choice for Beginners... Thanks for sharing... Greetings from Germany! :-)
The heavy "G's" got the best of your pilot! Just want to say thank you for your great, informative videos. And, yes, you're very easy on the eyes! 😊
Thanks again!
Greg
RC Girl keep at it. You inspire many modelers on your positive disposition and enthusiasm. Yes,
warbirds are impressive in the air. Maybe later down the line will be the challenge of a multi engine warbird!!
You are so informative on your videos. Hope you are doing ok during this challenging period. Keep safe & healthy.
The dreaded tip stall! Unfortunately warbirds need speed!
Something like a Mustang or a Texan are a bit more forgiving, Spitfires have that huge eliptic wing, so they need less speed, but landing is harder imo anyway lol
Third flight cool! Pappy Boyington would be proud!😃
Welcome to warbirds! It happens to all of us, I spun in a Bf-109 F a couple weeks ago and wrote it off.
I came here bc of skipper from disney planes. Just found out what plane he was 2 weeks ago and the f4u corsair is now my favorite plane! 😁
Fly, Crash, Repair and Fly Again. RC Pilot rules, go ahead Hailey. Excelente video.
That's my favorite warbird . I totally enjoyed your reaction to the first time flying it. It was real emotion that some try to hide. That's what's so great about your channel. You did a great job landing the plane! Always, always enjoy watching your videos! Thanks again for another awesome video. Looking forward for the next one!!!👍👍👍✈🥰
Awesome video! Too be honest, most of us get super excited, just as you were.
"But what if I fear?"
"Go with fear anyway"
OUTSTANDING YOUNG LADY!!!! I was smiling the hole time !!! GREAT FEELING RIGHT...!!! Great session keep it up it just gets better...!!! welcome to RC PILOTING...HAPPY FLYING ...!!! GOD BLESS...!!!
Great review and perspective RC Girl, grateful for sharing this learning experience with us all.
Thanks for the opportunity!! ✌🏻
@@RCGirl wuts on ur patreon?
Awesome looking airplane 👌
Hurry up and get some UK stock in .
Instablaster...
One of your best videos. Felt like I was waiting for the Space shuttle to land.
🤣🤣🤣
My hands are sweating just watching you 🤗good job
Great job. Smallish warbirds are tough. Fun video!
I love your honesty, our hands do shake, after a year of sporadic flying my hands still shake, especially if you have an expensive plane. Great job
Third time lucky👍🏻 landed nice as well. Abit of paint and she be all good. Look forward to more warbirds from you 🤓
We learn by our mistakes, warbirds and slow speed live in different neighbor hoods ...the more landings the better we get... like the video.
Nice job! That's a beautiful plane, one of my favorites. Glad you 'got back on the horse', that's how we learn.
Damn that’s a very durable model. Mostly cosmetic damage from 2 solid ground impacts. I’m impressed. Great recovery flight!
It should have smashed into 1000 pieces.
I’ve had the same plane for 12 years and it’s durable as hell 😭😂 nothin some epoxy & duct tape couldn’t fix 😎
@@drew9195 huh this plane came out in 2021 you probably mean the fms one?
"long tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs"...I'm stealing that :-) Great vid :-)
Good show. Awesome plane. F4U is classic. It needs speed and a lower glide slope. I have a BF 109 that’s the same scale. Haven’t crashed it yet and it’s tricky to fly. Speed is the key. I remember when I started. I lived in the Virgin Islands Saint John. It could take months to get replacement parts for some things. I taught myself and got others involved in gliders. We took to the slopes and it was amazing. Flying from my porch and catching my glider in my hand. The thermals were incredible. We had to hand build all of our plans because that’s all we had. I learned to fly with a Skeeter from great planes. . I had a net on a pole to catch them on tricky days. I think my favorite plane is the E-flight carbon cub giant scale. It’s fun size. I’ve got a bedroom full of planes. Would love to have a friend like you to share flying time with. Peace and love from tinytown, Colorado.
😀😀😄 Rc Girl!! Stop! Your pilot pass out! He or she cant handle the G forces of the plane. Take it easy. Hahaha. 👍 great and funny video Rc Girl.😀
haha!!
I love the pure joy you have. This is great just to watch the pure joy on your face.
Yeah it was pretty great once I finally landed successfully 😆
Wow, it drops the left wing just like the full-size F4U. That's what I call "SCALE." Great job and third time really is the charm.
You did good on the last flight, and good for you for showing mistakes and not editing them out. Very happy for you! The Petrincic Brothers never edit their videos and show that they crash often, even though they have a lot of experience in flying hundreds of different planes.
Great video !! Don't give up my girl 👌
I know exactly how u felt, after I built my Trex 450 and got ready to fly it the first time, I had crazy butterflies in my stomach! By far flying is so rewarding!!! Kudos on your landing
Awesome warbird 👍👍👍👍👍👍 watching the video and enjoying it too 👍👍😎 AWESOME good luck RC Girl ❤️
Poor thing..,I felt your pain as she stalled and dropped! Good to see you persevered and made another huge step forward! Yaay for you.
Way to go RC Girl!! Well done, I would have been nervous too!!! Looking forward to seeing you fly again!! Man that baby really gets up goes !!
Congratulations!!!!
Doug
I had exact same experience with war bird plane. Flipped over on take off. Two much torque. Fix was slow and steady to build up speed and lift. I also stalled plane going too slow on a turn. Broke nose all to hell.
I'm flying bigger war birds now with better skill. This is a good video as it addresses first flight problems with broken parts. Thank you Haley!
Nice. That’s how we learn. Crashing and repairing . I love to repair my planes, it’s part of the hobby .
Great job. Warbirds are difficult to learn but awesome to fly. Enjoy
Great video, it's great that you understood why you crashed and changed your flying style to suit the plane.
6 years flying and I still get butterflies on maidens
Great example of the differences between warbirds and trainers; well done on the video.
its nice to see a non pro just learning to love the hobby. keep on crushing. your doing great kid
Warbirds love Speed! Been flying for 20 Years... I get that same feeling every time I put a new bird into the air!
The crash carnage and hearing about your nervousness were the best parts. :-) Good vid.
,,,what a rush lol...1st warbird always a remarkable expirience :-) keep flying ...cheers
Great job And I love your never-give-up attitude
One thing I learned about crashes and R/C planes is it’s not “If” it’s “When”. Good job with a very informative video!
Haily, the comet would be proud!! :) Way to go RC Girl!! :) We all have to learn from our crashes and I'm a perfect example of it!!🥴 Big Thumbs Up!! Good landing. AirHammer out!!
You learned quick how to fly this baby, warbirds are not very forgiving.
I think it’s good to not only show what went well but also what went wrong in the video.
Definitely refreshing to see a girl in this hobby !
Thanks for sharing the good, bad, and ugly! It's refreshing to see actual experiences that most of us can relate to :)
Ms. RC Girl. We all are nervous on the first flight. Sweaty palms and heart rate overload. Don't worry about the runway rash on the plane. Adds character. Foam Tack is GREAT.
Your happyness makes me smile.
I'm so impressed with your flights! You did great job flying it and landed it pretty good on your first time with this cool war plane! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Keep up great work, and stay safe! 🙌🏼👊🏼
Great video! Just purchased 2 planes. Ready for spring! Happy flying!
Great candid video, thank you for sharing.
Flying new models for the first time is always a rush.
Keep the videos coming!
-Brad
That was fun to watch. I know that feeling. The first flight of all my planes, my heart was racing, and my legs started shaking. Lol. I love it!
I actually cheered when you landed! Well done!
So did I! 😆
Nice flying! I really like how you are detailed and transparent in your video. We crash, learn and keep flying.
Fantastic unboxing 👌 ive painted a Warbird and love to fly one 😀 but it be crashing it to so ill stick to painting for now lol 🤭 great video Hun 🥰
Nicely done Grasshopper!
Well done....I could feel your exuberance and giddiness through the tube,it was wonderful.
I think you did great RC Girl! I love Corsairs!
Great job RCGirl! I too am a relatively new flyer and get the jitters EVERY time I take off. I find that practicing landing for a couple of battery packs (with a lipo alarm) every time i go fly, it reduces the jitters substantially. Also learn to fly within 20 feet of the ground (below the tree line) on a consistent basis instead of so high you can barely see it and it will make you a more confident pilot. More flying videos please!
Great flight and landing - you made it👍🍻
🎂2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ happy birthday Hayley !!!!!!! 😈😈😈🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👸🚙👍👍👍👀👀👀🎥🥂🥂🍾
You're reigniting that RC passion in me again! Awesome video...thank you :)
Nice fast landing! Congrats lady!
great job! i love that feeling when you make strides in a hobby
Any landing you can walk away from is a great landing. If you can re-use the plane, that's a bonus.
Great review and love the honesty with everything, no matter how many planes we have or how many times we fly them, this is the rush we all keep getting and looking for with this great hobby, what a rush right!!! Now get ya a 1600mm or bigger and see the smile and rush you get, and hey, with accidents, we learn how to model and build, hope to see you flying more, thanks for the ride👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Literally why I recently got into RC planes was to fly a F4U Corsair, thanks for the honest and informative review. I was nervous for you..lol
Wow. That plane is so cool. I was feeling those nerves for sure. Awesome video. 👊🏼
It's the struggle to get it right, then the anticipation, and finally "I FREAKING DID IT!". That was fun Haley. I enjoyed hearing the emotions in your voice. :) Well done!!! I've been trying helicopters which I totally stink at but I'm starting to have some success so I know just how you felt. :) - Lauren
Hey! Just read your comment. I learned to fly From a 20$ Sim that hooks to a transmitter. 13 hours got me good enough to fly with confidence
@@Moonsauc3 Same thing I've been doing! Its working slowly! Thx!
Helicopters take some patience, I got basics down but so many crashes and rebuilds. Got so frustrated, I’m still taking a break from it haha for years now..
@@skyhawk21 yeah that's how my experience went with helicopters. I found fpv quads to be alot more fun and they handle similar. And can take tons of crashes before breaking 👍
Probably a bloke.
Great video! Oh the nerves on a new plane lol every time. I’m Bummed you crashed but glad you showed them even more happy you fixed it and flew again when a lot of people would have just edited it out good job. I must say I am not into ground vehicles or drones that much but I do like your channel and appreciate you sharing your airplane Journey thank you and keep up the good work.🛫🛫👍
Outstanding....good job.🇬🇧👍😎
I had a similar experience with my Parkzone UM P-51 Mustang back in 2011. I went from the Hobbyzone Champ to that P-51 and nosed into the ground in grass, luckily. Once I got it to fly, I was excited as you were and haven’t looked back 😀👊🏻😀
Glad to know my experience is not unique 😆
RC Girl It is pretty common my friend 😎
You did really great! You Learned from your mistakes which is good and hope you enjoy this hobby for a long time. It is lots of fun!🇺🇸🛫🇺🇸
I enjoyed ur rush and the smile through out the vid. You seemed exhilarated lol. I have the Mustang warbird but I've never flown it, mostly helis. Thx for the review
Congratz RC Girl. cool flight. Warbird looks very good to me. so might be my first warbird. see how I go well done xx
Congratulations Girl! Nobody told me that "War Birds" were harder to fly so my second flight ever was with a P-51D in beginners mode. It was fun and I was hooked.
Cool vid...i think we all know about those butterflies when flying a new plane, or just learning...ughhhhh...good job.
I was so elated and relieved for you when you landed it!!! Yay! This was intense to watch actually.
Planes do crash, part of the hobby I guess, and I too get nervous whenever I put up a first flight on any new airplane, especially ones I've spent months building. I fly control line with lots of videos on my you tube channel, and I'm following your instructions on how to build a rack for them as they are increasing in number as well and running out of wall space to hang them. Thanks for the great videos!
Awesome flying, well done! 👍🦘🇦🇺
That was awesome, and found myself smiling and clapping on the safe landing. Good job Miss. New subscriber from Alberta.
Great video my friend. Warbirds are really special and such a joy to fly them. Dont forget to try also EDF jet. You will love it. Big salute from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
i actually caught myself smiling with you that's the exact felling the will have you hooked for life. i have been there and could fell your excitement thanks for sharing
Epic ! Good job ,nice flight grtz Angelo from belgium
Nice, genuine video. Really enjoyed this one.
Well done and Welcome to the Corsair Brotherhood.
Nice overview and flight 💪🏾💯
I enjoyed seeing you so nervous and excited about your plane and the experience! That is a big part of what makes things fun. Great coverage of the model...I want one now!
RC innocence's sweaty palms.
Great job Haley!!
You did real well. Thank you for sharing
Well done....that was fun...
Nice plane. Brave girl. Well done.
Well done. Warbirds are scary. Love my volantex p51 though. Have crashed mine too. lol. 👍
This was the best video of a rc plane ever... Every landing is a crash be it controlled or not... I love the perseverance and passion to take on a warbird for the first time and win... My first experience was a micro mustang that ended with a belly landing under a car... Keep up all the RC awesomeness!
With practice you'll master even the warbirds. They are a ton fun to fly! You just have to ease throttle up on take off and be ready to compensate for any ground loop and on landings you really need some speed. Without flaps warbirds aren't slow flyers and when you see the wings starts to rock you have a stall lurking.
Try to fly lower coming in on the landing approach also with maintained speed and you'll have a much more gentle final glide slope until touch down.
I'll be getting mine this week so it will be interesting to fly it.
Keep me posted

This is superb and just what I need to help encourage my daughter she can get into flying but that crashing is inevitable and fun to boot. Really great to see truimph and disaster lol. New subscriber. thanks
