I don’t know about how it’s where your staying but in Reading where I live it was easier to register parents 12 years ago not any more, when anyone registers with GP they get a nhs number. Which is not the case for “visitors” hence you can be registered but only as a visitor and there is not guarantee that the surgery will accept your registration you might have find one that will. Once your registered as a visitor the gp usually charges you for every visit I pay £39 per visit

I am in London. Many of my friends also done the Registration with their GP and didn’t had any issues.
