@@FairlyFictional they say indeed it is made for an elven prince, maybe it was once forged in Khazad-dûm, but due to sercomstances it was never given away and eventually brought to Erebor the moment they left, maybe the elven prince was from Eregion. Not that anything is sure, but these could be true as well
