- I am going to walk you through the second half of the famous Rubicon Trail as my friends and I finish the second half of this 3-day trip, legendary bucket list off-road adventure.
Today we begin our journey 6500ft up in the Sierra Nevada mountains at the stunning Buck Island Lake where we spent our first night camping after an intense first day on this trail. We are going to make our way to the famous Rubicon Springs to spend night 2, and spend the next 2 days passing through some of the most famous obstacles such as Big Sluice and Caddilac Hill, and do our best to stay out of trouble along the way before we wrap up at the eastern gatekeeper where we will take a damage report of all our rigs!

Another Great Vid Casey and thanks again for including me in for the fun!
Had a blast! So glad you made it!
The dirty dozen is my favorite campground and swimming hole.😊
I did notice that all those sandwiches you make look delicious fresh😮 I wondered how , now I know.
That water got much deeper over the last year!
Great video. One of the best Rubicon videos I’ve seen. Thx
Wow, thanks!
These are the best Rubicon videos we've seen. The trip leading up to Loon Lake from BC, the obstacle walk-throughs and the damage check at the end were extensive, appreciated, and enjoyed. 'Can relate, being a fellow Jeep owner. Trail videographers can take a lesson from your work. We'll be watching these over again and recommending them to friends. As I said in the first video, we've backpacked into Buck Island multiple times south of Loon and know exactly whereof you speak. Desolation Wilderness is a spectacular and special place.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback. Such an awesome place up there!
Amazing video Casey the views top notch. Thumbs up to the Gladiator that joined in. Nice looking truck.
Whoa! Metalcloak Mike at 31:38. I thought that was going to be a recovery. Looked like the Jeep was doggie paddling for a bit!
yeah, she floated the rear end for a few seconds and my intake didn't suck any water in. Dodged a bullet for sure.
@@metalcloakmike Ha! Nice! (Just Jeep people doing Jeep things, eh?) Also, I liked how you had the stones to just keep going and didn't stop. I think that's about as close as somebody could get and not actually break something. Can't say y'all don't wheel at MC! One of these day's I'm gonna buy one of your lift kits. Cheers!
Thank you Casey for 2 awesome videos on the Rubicon Trail! For those of us that will probably never get there, we can now understand what an awesome trek it is! Safe travels!
Glad you enjoyed!

Eat set of Rubicon trail videos !! That's pretty amazing that no one in your group suffered crippling carnage. It seems like every other Rubicon video i have watched there was crippling carnage.
Great set....not eat set...
It's a hard trail but just take your time.
Nice i watched 4wd24/7 driving here from Australia cool mates!
Ya it was cool to see their video too
You should get a tuner even if you dont delete. You can force a regen with the tuner anytime you want.
If I don't delete... 😈
That awesome trail get mine finished this be on my bucket list Awesome video Casey.
Remotely foldable side mirrors with an indicator lights is a must have features on today's standard from small hatcback to fullsize 4x4 trucks. Most of the company do have it. Jeep isn't doing any upgrade on this for a long time now and i don't know why but it will be good to have.
Because they are like $100 to replace if you knock em off hahah
@4:05 let's appreciate what this man does to get the shot. Look sharp, Casey! Don't trip!
Haha. I couldn't do this with out the help of my friends. Faye got a ton of great shots
He said celsius!! Woho!!
Like your style and attitude. Thanks for taking us along!!
Thanks for watching!
Mike got lucky on that water crossing! Wow.
Ya man. We all were like 😬
yes I did! might be time for 37's and 4.5" springs. LOL
Great video. We are definitely planning on hitting the rubicon next summer. Maybe after the BC to Daytona beach Fl road trip.
That's a long road trip. Def would love to see you guys up here again next year
Great video of the Rubicon! I ran this in my Ecodiesel JL during the Jeepers Jamboree this year.. If you let your guard down, this trail will bite you! Awesome trail, just take your time, enjoy the ride and stay focused 100% of the time.
Casey! Your curls are killing me! 😍. Thanks for taking me an adventure that I will probably never be able to do.
My pleasure!
When I say killing me - they’re awesome 😎 I’ve felt bad for weeks that you might have thought I said it in a negative way.
Epic trip. Epic video. Thanks for taking us along Casey!
Amazing! I love watching people on the Rubicon :)
Need to use a fuel borne catalyst will help burn cleaner and if you’re in California get some renewable diesel it creates less soot. I’m also going to be installing water ejection it’ll keep things cool and clean everything up
I don’t care what anyone says, a 2dr just hits different, I’d love to get a 2dr Jeep someday soon
These videos are doing more to sell me a Jeep than any salesman could ever do 😂
LOL! I need a Jeep affiliate link
Good video Casey..!
Glad you enjoyed it
That was a fun video to watch. Hopes reactions were priceless add end less content to video. Tennessee looks like a grate place to wheel.
Device Kid Casual, nice! I might just go grab one from my fridge lol.
Great video.
My club. you winch, get stuck, or bypass and you have to wear a pink bicycle helmet until the next guy earns it.😅.
Epik trail awesome video
great vid
Just finished, what an awesome video, Casey! Your trail videos are the best. Never too slow, never feel like anything important didn't get filmed, just right. Keep up the great work, man. Two questions: how does Mike's TJ wade that deep without a snorkel? And what is your impression of the Ineos Grenadier? (this second question is a bit off-topic, I admit)
Thanks so much, I appreciate that!. I really aim to share the experience.
The Jeep's oem air box is quite resilient even with out a snorkel, also he got lucky.
I think the Ineo Grenadier is pretty sick. I preordered one because it costs nothing, but im super cautious about such a new vehicle and the inevitable first edition problems. I think the price is a tad high once you spec it out, i think its around $120k cdn, but a new Rubicon X is nearly $100k cdn. They have thought of a lot of cool things on the Grenadier. I wish we were getting the diesel here in Canada. Maybe I should do a video on it.
Casey is correct... I got lucky, but the stock intake pulls air up high under the hood so it unless you've got water over the hood for 5 seconds or more... it handles it pretty well. But I got lucky. 🙂
Casey, did the Gladiator have skid plates? And what would you recommend to Gladiator owners.
No it didn't. I think after market sliders if your playing on rocks are a must on Wranglers and Gladiators. 37 inch tires as well. If you are careful, I don't think skids are necessary but on the diesels there are more things hanging down like the emissions system and fuel filter that if you aren't careful can get smashed which is why I have skids.
Casey, did your warning message go off? I have never tried anything like the Rubicon Trail and have not had that message yet. I was wondering though if you put the EcoDiesel in neutral and gave it 2000 rpms for a couple of minutes if that would clear the filter and turn off the warning message? Great video. I am already a subscriber so I can't help with getting any higher. I hope you make it soon. You deserve it. You put your heart into your videos and it shows.
It turned off eventually
Great video. How did the roof tent work out?
Thanks! Its a good tent but it was on loan, stay tuned for what I just picked up :)
CASEY what diff covers do you have? have you felt they helped you more then hung up on stuff?
I bought em mostly to protect the drain plugs they are Dana covers and rock hard skids. If I did it again I'd buy the Metacloak diff covers and skid plates.
What modification did you do to prevent water entering the cab when doing a river crossing
Nice vid, thanks for sharing. Wish to hit that trail one day. What tires were you running on that trip?
Nitto trail grapplers - 37x12.5
@@Casey250 thanks mate!
When is the demonator testing the Rubicon?
Probably never lol.
When you cross deep water like that, you need to make sure that your electric fan doesn’t turn on.
There really isn't a way to do that that I know of.
@@Casey250 other than going to a non-electrical, I can’t think of anything either.
@@Casey250 I guess if you try to keep the radiator temperature down it won’t kick on
@@Casey250 very difficult, that I know, especially being in four low all the time
Those are pine trees my guy
Im a jeep guy not a tree guy.
I really want to give EOC a call and go full weight loss with my diesel to not have to worry about the DPF anymore. When you were stuck on the boulder I was just hoping you'd clear the DPF as it is quite exposed right there
With where you live in CA, is that a possibility for you?
Ya EOC is in Vancouver. I want to talk to them but I was waiting for my High pressure fuel pump recall to go thru
@@Casey250 same here. Our state doesn't have emissions testing for diesels so my biggest worry would be warranty issues. However doing the weight loss removes a ton of the most failure prone components, so I am torn.
@@Casey250 a local buddy of mine has an EOC setup and loves it. Said the only downside are the fumes for the person behind him on a trail when slow crawling.
Im less about weight loss and more about ditching DEF, all the tank in teh back, and cleaning up the whole underneath. Also sounding good.
I've heard EOC is working on a cat or some sort to cut down on fumes. I'm not much of a diesel guy so I may be a bit off the mark but its what I heard.
I would love to hit up the Rubicon in my Econoline. Is it a jeep only trail or are their full size trucks taking it as well?
ooph - I can't say it be thinking about taking a full size down there but I guess if you just want to send it, maybe? They just put Rivian through but it took some hits for sure.
Plan for significant body damage unless you have solid armor (maybe even if you have armor).
All 4wd vehicles are allowed, however larger/longer platforms will struggle with maneuverability in the tight areas and many of these spots to do not have bypass options.
Where’s your gladiator
Back home awaiting the next adventure
Does the 2 door on 40s have a chanel?
No just IG @ryanutah
What brand coffee maker is that at 28:38?
Nespresso
Motor vehicles should not be allowed on that trail
On the Rubicon??
This a joke right??
Hoping it’s a joke. If not, a 2 min search for the origin of the Rubicon Trail would be educational.
Go drink some bud lights butter cup.
Seriously? This is one of America's most iconic 4x4 trails. Lots of history behind it. If this is not a joke, please research the trail.
