Mini Sumo, from design to competing in Robot SM 2019

  • In early April, our team "Devex Robotics" competed in Robot-SM 2019. Robot-SM is a competition that is arranged annually by Chalmers Robot Association since 2006 where teams build robots that compete in different challenges such as Mini Sumo, Line tracking and Folkrace.
    Devex Robotics designed and built a Mini Sumo robot, "DevexDestroyerDroid" and we managed to get second place. This video shows the process of designing, building, and training the robot. And in the end, the matches with the competing robots.
    The goal of Mini Sumo is for the robots to stay within the Dohyo ring as long as possible while trying to push the opponent out. To succeed, it is important that the robot is powerful, fast and has a good perception of the surroundings.

    What PCB design SW did you use for schematics and layout? Where did you get the PCB printed in Sweden?

    Hello! What software are you ising to simulate robot in 3d? After you finish this simulation, the software creates obj files for 3d printing?

      I'm using Onshape to design the CAD models. The models are exported as .STL files for 3D printing.

      The robot uses edge sensors, IR distance sensors, accelerometer, gyroscope, encoder and optical mouse sensor.

      @@Juan-lq5vh The Robot has 4 pcs JS40F sensors and 2 pcs GP2Y0D340K with custom made boards. :)

      The wheels I'm using are JSumo Silicon Wheel JS2622S.

      @@genesisplaton6773 I can't find the listing on Ebay anymore but the name of the motor was "DC12V 1200RPM 0.6A Powerful High Torque Gear Box Motor"

    yourAlgorithm is way to slow.
