Eric,DON'T EVER leave Jaxx or your RV in a situation like that again just for a video or views!!
It's not worth it!! It only takes one thing or 5 minutes for your way of life/things/or love(Jaxx)to be gone forever!!
NOT WORTH IT!!! I would be so devastated if something would have happened!!

Not sure how far south you're heading, but if you're going south down highway one, stop in Monterey and go to the aquarium there - it's world-class. If you're staying longer in the bay area, move farther south to Fremont and catch BART there. It's a much better place than Oakland. Otherwise, you might want to boondock just across the estuary in Alameda (there is a ferry terminal there) and take the ferry across instead of BART - get off at Pier 41 instead of the ferry building and you'll be much closer to the Alcatraz ferry.

Hi Eric, I've seen most of your vids. Funny thing, a couple months ago I did the exact same trip with my RV down the wash/Oregon/California coast with all the same stops as yours all the way down to Sandiego. While in Sanfran we parked at an RV park in Daly right on the ocean = expensive. Took the Bart to Embarkadaro and had the whole Sanfran experience. Keep up the good work.

I was there in the 60s. Very nostalgic thoughts of the place. I loved San Francisco then, always thought of returning for a visit. Fisherman's Wharf looks nothing at all like I remember it. We'd buy a fresh sour dough bread and cheese from the local vendor and eat it on the beach . Now it looks more touristy with all the gift shops and restaurants. It use to be one large tent like structure with large wooden planks for tables and vendors selling inexpensive things from around the world that I'd never seen before. I remember buying rattan furniture. It was so inexpensive . I believe there was a long pier you could walk down, and people were fishing. I didn't see that in the video, but maybe it's still there.

Alcatraz was by far the coolest thing I've ever seen. I've been all over this planet and seen allot of things but you could feel the history there the moment you stepped off the boat. That is one thing I will do again if I come back to San Fran. The under water restaurant was pretty cool too.

What you do wrong will come back to hit you in the face so we don't have to be his judge and jury. Chill and don't stress over him. Life will take care of him. Peace.

Ha! you did the alcatraz tour, Sausalito, the GG bridge, the pits in Oakland, Bart, the seals at Pier 39... you didn't miss much. The science and space museum in the south bay would be a winner as well. The night ferry from pier 41 in SF to Oakland under the bridge is breathtaking if you sit in the back of the boat and get salt water sprayed...pure drama, the roar of the turbine. rushing water and the fog and lights from the bridge overhead.. one of my fondest memories of SF... except one time when I ran away from home 65 or so years ago, and jumped onto the fan tail of a ferry on a cold night into the city..I was 9 then, alone, wearing a tee shirt.. I jumped a freight train out of Oroville california 6 or 8 hours earlier to get there,

The aquarium in the California Academy of Sciences is much larger than the one at the Wharf. If you are interested, take the N-Judah MUNI train from Embarcadero towards Ocean Beach. It is a pleasant ride. The train runs through Haight-Ashbury and parallel to Golden Gate Park. You can get off at 9th Avenue (lots of good local eateries and a short walk through the park to the academy).

+Gina Bigelow You're welcome! SF is one of my favorite cities. Lots of great museums, galleries, restaurants, movie history, and great things to see and do. You would enjoy yourself, I'm sure ...

I see you've discovered what we on the SF Peninsula side call the "other side" of the bay. Third world country in many regards compared to most parts of the bay area. Many of those "other" RV's are drug wagons. Glad you made it out alive bro. Enjoy!

I love all your videos, and hope everything turns out okay Those sea lions were fun to see as well as all the touristy places. Even seeing all that debris and garbage was interesting and sad. . But for some reason I have a uneasy feeling somehow, About your return back to your RV , and what you might fine.. II hope all is well and My intuitiveness is wrong. Until Util you return I'll just wait anxiously..

Awesome vid Eric! Thank You, for sharing with us!
P.S. The first 2 minutes were scary and a little bit depressing. (Why would people do that to their city?) The Sea Lions were adorable! I could spend hours watching and laughing with them!

Eric, great video! But I don't think it was a good idea to leave Jax in a place like that. It would be bad enough if your RV got vandalized, broken into, or stolen-you can replace that and live through it-but Jax would be a casualty and he could be hurt, killed, or just disappear.

Twenty years ago, while on a fishing trip, I beached on Alcatraz to look around.

I used to love SF, but I think it is going down hill. Oakland used to be beautiful. I went to school down there in the bay area but would not want to live there full time. Thanks for the tour but I will not be stopping there soon.

You're lucky not to get murdered in that part of Oakland. If Olga and Jax were ok when you got back, then you have a guardian angel on your shoulder protecting you. The best time to do Alcatraz is at sunset. It's really spooky there at night, plus the lights from all the cities around the bay are lovely. Sure hope you found a better place to park for the remainder of your stay. Be safe. That's a heavy gang/drug/violent part of Oakland. You picked a really bad spot.
