I think the reason I don’t mind this being a flop from Drinker is because he never touted it as the next step in media or movies or like even to “offset the woke movies we have” or anything like that. Dude wrote a book series and got offered to make a short film off it, can’t blame him for trying. But just as he can criticize the bullshit Hollywood puts out, it’s only fair we get to judge the pile of she he gave us! He’s also not trying to vehemently defend it or go after people saying it’s bad like we’ve seen directors and actors do so this is just a miss from him. I still enjoy his other content! Just like I still enjoy your guys’ content!
I'm not really into this, but saying they criticize multi-million dollar Hollywood garbage so we can criticize their small movie is a bit of a stretch Isn't it kinda obvious that their own movie won't meet their expectations of actual movies? And they aren't trying to meet it either? I doubt any critic actually thinks they can make a good movie, but they can still expect a million dollar movie to be good.

You can really tell in his recent videos that he’s just going through the motions and repeating the same talking points with nothing new or insightful. There are hilarious breakdowns of his reviews that shows how dumb he is as a critic, his Glass Onion "reviews" are an example, he's too stupid to understand the movie so he just yells at it.

It was marketed as a "movie" and then when he realised it was getting roasted, dumped it on his channel, changed the title and pretended it never happened. He's not referenced it since, never acknowledged the criticism and he's still getting daily comments absolutely slating it. I wonder what he really did with the £303 grand, because it's not on the screen. He's a grifter.

Ironically the algorithm made me aware of you guys a few months ago from some of Drinker's old Dr Who stuff. I like his old stuff but genuinely can't watch him now because of how everything is viewed through the lens of modern day politics for him and the increasingly painful people he seems to associate with (Mauler seems a good egg though). Ironic as they constantly complain about politics in media then do exactly the same in their content. I felt it was all getting very right wing and then a few weeks ago my quite right wing father who also likes RUclips - he's English and watches US fox news - but doesn't have much interest in movies and TV, asked me whether Id heard of the Critical Drinker. The algorithm never lies. Keep up the good content as i think you give a fair analysis and point out "the message" when necessary but dont let it override your feedback on story, dialogue,.production etc

Hmmmmmm this is a bit odd... In some ways they are mostly right, but its a bit like saying these 3 are terrible presenters and dont have the charisma of prime time chatshow hosts... Or they are too ugly for video, because they dont look like Holywood A-listers, so they really should NOT be seen. Its true, but at the same time, they are just doing a job, like the actors/director etc... These film people will NEVER be as good as their A-list peers. Critical Drinker is fair game (for the record i like him), its his product, he wrote some of it, i think... But unless they had bags of cash, and could of got S-tier Hollywood filmakers to make this, i find it distasteful to say the actors are shit. The casting argument just doesn't hold up, why dont we replace these 3 with Hammond, May & Clarkson... The answer is mostly in the green.

Your argument for letting productions have bad actors falls apart when you compare budgets, if you’re given 250 mill for 8 episodes you can fly actors out, paying for all that stuff on a shoestring budget is just not practical, so it makes way more sense for them to have hired Canadian actors where as Disney or whoever else has no excuse when they’re throwing that amount of money at every project they do. Sorry but that one’s truly unfair, and it’s right after you saying you’re going to be overly harsh. Direct it towards something a little bit more fixable without money, like better camera work or having better direction, and dialogue. Not hiring choices limited by money and location.
Generally with independent productions, the actors are as bad as the directors who direct them. It's a collaboration to get the actor and their performance to serve the story in a satisfying way. And you might get very lucky with non-professional or unknown actors. With that said, some big budget films get bad actors assigned by producers for clout as well.
