Love hearing an experienced and knowledge nerd cover a modern book.

I really disliked the first deluxe for this book. The writing didn’t work for me at all. Felt like it was written for teens and there was so much going on that made no sense. Like a principal telling a kid to punch someone, Erica (who is a master monster hunter) going into a store being clueless about what she’s getting and ends up buying a tiny hedge trimmer to kill monsters, her being a punk and having a terrible attitude towards the cops while being questions and nothing happening to her, the one guy being drunk on the job and admitting it and nothing happens to him, the insufferable boy entering the cave after being told many times not to and guess what happens??? Endless terrible writing decisions like this. I tend to be more critical than others though

Interesting! The hedge trimmer thing WAS stupid. I think I was intrigued by the plot and monster lore that I kind of ignored the silly tropes.

@@LarrysLibrary I can ignore some of it, but was just constantly rolling my eyes at all the stupid things happening due to poor writing.

Not interested after the first volume. It was ok, but lost steam quickly.

It really is true that grabbing an audience/reader is harder than holding one.
