Also, i was living on my own, during the pandemic my depression got really bad and i was having thoughts i shouldn’t have, especially around my moms one year anniversary of when she passed on August 14th, so i moved back home to be with family and it helped me mentally and emotionally a lot. I’m still struggling but it’s helped more than where i was. I felt a bit defeated to be moving home, but i think it was the best choice and i think it’s brave of you to be back home and make this choice. One day you’ll be back in New York and if not, it’s okay🤍✨

I feel like having family who is happy to let you live with them is such a blessing. My husband and I are both 30 and are living with our aunt while we save money for our first home. We moved from Charlotte last October and were so sad to leave. We made amazing friendships there. Little tip: try going to Waterman Fish Bar on South Blvd, delicious food. Looking forward to seeing my Queen city again 😃
I was a senior in college when the pandemic hit and was planning to either stay in the Boston area or move down to NYC but ended up moving back in with my parents in Southern California. It's a huge set back for me as well. While I'm fortunate enough to have a good relationship with my parents, it doesn't feel like I'm making any good career moves. Though, I can't complain too much because I'm thankful to be by the ocean + opportunities in LA. But it's definitely taken a toll on my mental health!
Moving home in your twenties is so weird and stressful but you're doing great, being practical and i have no doubt you'll flourish - both at home and once you move back to NYC x

Girl I feel you I am in my late 30s and went through the “Great Recession” just as I was starting to excel in my profession in my 20s. At that time there were so many unknowns for our generation as well and many moved back home. hey natalie, i know it might be really different in the us, but i live in a latin country and its so so common to live with your parents until almost your 30s, or until you get married! theres no shame in going back home, it means you have a family that loves and cares about you! honestly, during the pandemic its super important to have this safety net around you, hope youre doing better! love uu

girl i feel you :( i'm living at home right now because where i was living had a covid outbreak. it sucks because all of my friends are still at school, and here i am living in my childhood bedroom. also i turn 21 in two weeks and i feel like the peak part of my life is being spent in my childhood bedroom lol. but what helps make me feel better is that so many people are experiencing this right now, and even though it doesn't feel like it, all of this uncertainty and instability will end eventually! also it doesn't say anything about you if you have to live at home for a little while.

I just moved back to my ”actual” hometown here in Finland to continue my law studies (via Zoom, though) after spending the last 4 months working and living in my childhood hometown and home. Making my room there feel more like the new adult me deffo made everything so much better. Leaving the town of Turku (where I study) which I LOVE was soooo hard, but let me tell you, coming back feels even better than I imagined. Try and enjoy this unique time you are living right now and now that NYC will feel even more special when you return ✨❣️

You are certainly not alone. These are tough times for a lot of people but I hope you enjoy your time in NC!
I'm 20 and I'm still living at home. Partially because my parents house is five minutes away from my university campus, but also in order to save some money before I move out next year. I love my family, but there comes a time when you start bumping heads all the time. For me, it's definitely time to move out soon, but I feel no shame for still living at home. Hope you feel better soon btw! Feeling anxious is the worst.

Wow it’s really amazing how every society has their own culture regarding living with parents/family ! Hope you feel at home and all setteled ASAP , i feel that you miss NY so much but this shall pass too and you’ll be back there in no time
I think young people need to realize that it’s not always a walk in the park for parents to have adult children living at home and they are also having to adjust their lives and finances to have you there regardless of personality clashes. There are many young folks that don’t have the option to live back at home who wish they did. I personally would love it if what comes out of this pandemic is that people become more kind considerate and grateful because right now it seems the general vibe in the US is the opposite where we have such a toxic society.
Completely agree. Also, in my opinion, unless you lost your job due to covid and can’t pay your rent, there is no reason you should be moving home. If you are are moving home and still have your job, then you should be contributing to bills and paying rent like a grown up. I feel like a lot of people are running home because it feels wasteful living on their own and paying rent while everything is shut down and they can work from home. You don’t hear people complaining when things are open and they can run around spending money and having fun.
I love how open you're being about your headspace, it's refreshing especially as someone who struggles with anxiety too.

I am 23 years old and recently moved back home after finishing grad school in May, thankful I got a job offer and started working at the beginning of August remotely since the company I’m working for is out of state. Due to covid they gave me the opportunity to stay home with my family ❤️❤️ weird to go from living on my own to living back in my childhood room working a full-time gig but I’m thankful I get to spend this time with the fam and enjoying each day as it comes😋

I feel you on the family dynamic thing. I have an autoimmune illness that got really bad in 2017 so I’ve been pretty dependent on my mom while having to focus on my health, and it has definitely affected and tested our relationship. I totally understand you not wanting to say much about your family dynamic, but just the fact that you opened up and mentioned it makes me feel less alone. The house looks beautiful btw!
I so relate! I got really sick with a genetic condition during my first year of university so I moved back in with my parents when the year was over and have been living at home since then (I’m 24 now). My mom does SO much for me and luckily we have a good relationship and it’s gotten stronger but sometimes it’s hard!!! I miss having my independence because I used to be so independent and loved living on my own but love my family and we make it work! Sending love ❤️

I moved back to home after college in February this year and I thought it'd be fine at first since I'm close with my family, then I started to realize that yeah, some relationships are better distant. It was hard for the first few months but then I'm starting to just see the pros of living with parents again so I can stay sane lol. It's good because you get to spend time with them and you saved a lot so no shame! A lot of people experienced this too because of covid so I hope you're not too hard on yourself❤️ Can't wait for more Charlotte vlogs!!

Moved to Chicago in 2017 then straight to Sydney at the start of 2019.. low key hated it and moved back home to Ireland in Feb to my parents house and have been working on my freelance video services ever since and I haven’t been this happy in a long time 😊 Best of luck with moving home, always a weird time but it has its pros and cons 💕

While we are so appreciative that we have a place to go and our families are so nice, you still feel so odd living with your parents again after you’ve been on your own for a few years. Hey Nat, fairly new to your channel. Since you asked, it's always a bit of an indescribable feeling when moving back into a parents home. Enjoy this time in that beautiful new home where there's grass, a pool, and plenty of space. There's plenty of opportunities to film/highlight and support local places that you find to be favorites while you're there so when you do move back to NYC or wherever else you have it to look back on and you remember your favorite things about that place like the scents, the people, the food, the atmosphere etc. You'll be ok, I promise. You're a smart woman... You'll utilize this time wisely ❤

Im a software engineer that was living in San Francisco for 3 years. I had my own life and really enjoyed it. Right as the pandemic started, I visited my parents, and then everything got really bad so I decided to stay a bit longer. A bit longer has turned into 6 months. I don't know if I will ever go back to the bay since my job can be done 100% remote. :/
Been living with my family since I got out of college a year ago ! Definitely think it’s time for me to move out but no luck on a good paying job (college grad probs) but I am more than grateful for my family allowing me to stay living where I am !

I just graduated from nursing school and moved to Charlotte with my boyfriend in May! I love it here but missing my family who's in PA. I'm 24 and in medical school and I live at home because my school is literally 10 minutes from my home, no shame in living at home especially from my point of view of saving money in that aspect since medical school is so expensive!
Your skin looks so good! Please do an updated skincare routine :) I also recommend to continue meditating for your mental and spiritual health. It definitely has helped me feel calmer and less anxious about things and it's a great way to just destress and feel more present. I am indian and it is normal in our culture to live with our parents. I don’t get why there is this pressure to leave home in the « white culture ». I don’t live at home at the moment because I am studying abroad but there are so many pros of living at home as long as you are getting along with your parents. Don’t let your ego telling you are going back and that you are not independant because when I lived at home I was fully independant. And appreciate the time you have with your parents because it is time you won’t get back :)

I am turning 25 this year and I live at home with my parents. I moved back in when I decided to go back to school and change my career and couldn’t keep working at my job full time so it was the best idea to move in with them. It’s been great. My parents are party parents anyway... they’re cool with me having friends over and have drinks, karaoke&cookout(etc). My family will typically join and all my friends love it! I live in CLT,NC as well! It’s a fun place but I don’t plan on staying here after I finish school.
So I’ve been living with gradma for the last 1 1/2 years. It’s kind of a townhouse so I have my uncle his wife and my cousins living upstairs and a little apartment downstairs with the garage. I use to live near downtown Los Angeles in a room of renovated hotel with a roomate and before that near Miami in my apartment. Things were rough for me before covid so I went back to Spain with my family...I couldve stayed but I wonder how it wouldve been now with covid:// I think I would still choose the same. My grandma is 90 and I wouldn’t want to miss her!
Just wanted to tell you that I had move back to my parents house because of my visa situation and initially I felt the pressure too. I was anxious and wanted to be productive. But then I took a step back and analyzed the situation and realized this is an opportunity for me to do all the things I wanted to do. I started learning a new language, exercised more and did things mindfully while spending time with my parents. The situation was a blessing in disguise as I got to reconnect with myself. Don't feel like you're missing out. You'll soon be back to the grind and it'll be awesome! But this time is unique and only comes rarely. Ise it without guilt and pressure. I hope this makes you feel at peace.

I'm almost 20 and am from a very small town but left for almost a year while traveling and thought my bf and I would be moving in together (he's from South Africa and stuck over there right now) once we stopped traveling but because of covid we can't move in together or anything. Definitely feels like a set back BUT remembering that its only temporary and using this time to prepare me for what's to come and even making it better than what it may have been is really getting me through ❤️ you got this Natalie!
I live at home with my parents! Almost 23 but I recently took a different job with a big pay cut so this is just my current situation! Definitely sucks after living alone and away for four years of college but it’s not the worst. I get to spend time with my family and save money! Appreciate you saying the part at the end. I definitely would have loved to be able to stay with family but my parents are divorced and don’t have the space for me in their own homes. Living alone during the pandemic hadn’t been great :/ but I am powering thru!

I live with my parents and I couldn’t love it more. And yes, they do treat me as a personal assistant sometimes but I don’t mind since they’re the best people ever. Also, you can save TONS of money.
I lived at home throughout college to save money and I ended up really loving it! I had a lot more space than if I were to live in the dorms or an apartment and my parents were really good about giving me privacy and allowing me to still have that college experience. Now I live across the country for grad school and even though it’s so nice to have an apartment and feel more like an adult, I’d give anything to be able to move back home right now. Of course there are cons like fighting with your parents or reverting back to your high school self, but it sounds like you’re being mindful of those things and also trying to focus on the pros. Just know that you’re not in it alone!

I moved back with my folks too after being away for four years. It really sucks but I try to focus on the positive (such as saving money). I also started an associates degree in viticulture as i'm in a wine region, which has been keeping me busy and will help if I choose to work in the wine industry (a passion of mine)

no one's family is perfect. no one can judge you for your family when you can't control anyone but yourself. you don't have to feel self-conscious about it or like you have to hide your struggles
Loved this vlog really!! Here in Argentina, people don't move for college, actually everyone usually moves out from their parents home at 25 or more! So i'm kind aused to it, i would love to live alone but here it's SO expensive, and my room is kinda small, but i treated as my little space, i record my podcast, i take my classes here and i just try to make it as pretty and cozy as i can so i can enjoy my time here even though in quarantine it seemed like way too much time! But yeah, im used to living at home 😅, injust think it as a way to save money!

I also moved home with my parents! I graduated from University of San Francisco in December and moved from SF back right before the pandemic. Planning on staying here about 2 years to save money will taking a few extra classes and applying to medical school. Not an ideal situation, but the Bay Area is so expensive and I had no luck with jobs the last few months :(

Hang in there, Natalie. Just know that you are not alone in what you are feeling. I think Covid has definitely in one way or another created some sort of anxiety for people. Give yourself grace. This is a challenging time we are all going through and no one expects you to know what to do. None of us know what the future holds but I have trust and faith in God that things will get better. I feel sooo much of what you're feeling. To whoever's reading this: this year is such a big change for everyone so don't feel bad having more anxiety than usual/being anxious about being anxious. Take it one day at a time.
I'm 24 with a full time Marketing job and was living with 3 of my friends in Washington DC. It was sooo fun and finally got in a good rhythm but when the pandemic hit I moved back in with my parents in Maryland temporarily. I have issues with my family too, so this was really hard to do. Little did I know I wouldn't live in DC again :(
After my lease was up, my friends wanted to move into a new house in DC but I didn't want to risk it (some people aren't as safe as you'd like), so I moved back in with my parents for 5 months! I just got my own place in the suburbs and while I'm paying more than I was in DC sharing a house with my friends, I have my own space to call my own and some peace of mind/control in my life.

I've been living at home with my parents for exactly a year now! I am 23 and moved home because I found a job that I was super passionate about (I work at a non-profit that provides programming for high school girls from underserved areas), but could not afford to live in the city that it is based in. Overall I would say it has been a pretty positive experience for me! I am saving a good amount of money, doing what I love, and have gotten some really valuable time with my parents that I wouldn't have had otherwise. :)
