I'm 19 and my dad used to play this song in the car whenever we were on vacation riding to the beach. I just remember being in my car seat listening to this while the sun was pouring into the car. Makes me so thankful that I still have those beautiful memories :)
I was 7 or 8 years old when my babysitter had this song on repeat on her record player in 1985 or 1986. Her relationship with her man had just ended. I remember her crying, placing the needle back into the grooves of the record after the song ended to start it over again, feeling terrible for her and the beauty of the song. Every time I hear it, I go back to Kankakee, IL in my mind and seeing my babysitter devastated over love ending. But I am also thankful for being introduced to such a beautiful song.

I've heard this song so many times in my life but never listened. This is the first time I read the lyrics and oh boy how they smacked me in the face. Over the past couple years I've fallen hard for a girl I know. I met her through some friends when she was married. We started talking a lot more as friends while she was going through a divorce and over that time I realized I couldn't begin to think of anyone else. She is the girl of my dreams. She knew I had feelings and I hoped once things were settled we'd get the chance to get to know each other better and she'd see I'm worth keeping around. Then I found out she was already seeing someone else. It hurts like hell and I know the probability of us ever getting together is next to nothing, but I'm overjoyed at how I feel for her. I feel like those gorgeous green eyes and that infectious smile will always be etched in my mind. I don't have any regrets and would do it all over again if I had a second chance.

We started talking a lot more as friends while she was going through a divorce and over that time I realized I couldn't begin to think of anyone else. She is the girl of my dreams. She knew I had feelings and I hoped once things were settled we'd get the chance to get to know each other better and she'd see I'm worth keeping around. Then I found out she was already seeing someone else. It hurts like hell and I know the probability of us ever getting together is next to nothing, but I'm overjoyed at how I feel for her. I feel like those gorgeous green eyes and that infectious smile will always be etched in my mind. I don't have any regrets and would do it all over again if I had a second chance.
