  • Today I really wanted to do a pearlescent pour with liquid puddles and some more negative space from the black to show a different composition and depth. Watch how this transforms and the effect is WOW!

    ▶ Technique: Puddle Pour and Marble
    ▶ Canvas size: 20x20 inch
    ▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with a pouring medium using Floetrol/Owatrol (1:3 Paint: Pouring Medium) with just a dash of water to make it slightly more fluid.
    ▶ Color Palette:
    Amsterdam: Lamp Black (Base)
    Amsterdam Pearlescent: Pearl White, Pearl Yellow, Pearl Red, Pearl Blue, Pearl Violet, Pearl Green
    ▶ Hair dryer: Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting

    Really beautiful. Yes, there is a lot of movement and I love it. It is becoming difficult to decide which one I like the best! They are all so beautiful.     Very lovely. I like the marble lines. The dark parts are from the black background, really . add different colors to your colors. I like the negative space. I really have been enjoying this series of paints.

    Absolutely Beautiful!! This piece made me smile when u showed the dried version. U really balance that marble perfectly. I think I see a ballerina when I look at it. 💃 I have a thought what would it do if u did the piece the exact same way but after u stretch it out completely put the marble bk on it & balance it all over again. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Great piece! I Love it !!

      @@MarkJRatcliffeArt I did one yesterday and I am very happy with it EXCEPT as of this morning my colors are still very muted. How long does it take for the pearlescent colors to come up fully? I can't imagine if I'm doing something wrong. I used a different black paint this time.

    This is very beautiful Mark. A great effect with the marble taking the colours around the canvas. I'm loving those pearlescent paints look. Though it does add an extra challenge, not being able to see the colours very well while you are working. You do an awesome job.

      You know Mark. Every time when I start to mix up my colors for my next painting I am scared. What if it doesn' t work and something goes wrong.     I am one of those who appreciates your creation, this painting is really very beautiful. 👍💯
    I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one moving my cell phone and forcing with you when you tilt your canvas for the final result. 🤩
    My marble is much smaller and I think this gives more lines of color when moving it on the canvas. If ever you are interested in trying it with a smaller, 5/8 inch, steel ball.

    I love watching you and the patience and “mindfulness” that you have!     Another awesome piece of yours. It's so fascinating how rich the colours get when they dry. So good you kept some negative space. It gives the piece some extra depth. You're so good at driving the marble. I probably would get nervous and it wouldn't go where I want it to go. The design is absolutely awesome. In the middle I can see a mermaid. It's always a joy to watch you create your artwork 🖒💖

    Beautiful Marc! I tried to do this yesterday but ended up tilting most of it off🙁 I think I had too much paint and it was too thin. I will try your ratio and see how I make out. It’s all about trial and error for sure in acrylic pouring but I am not giving 😅up! Love from NB Canada!

    Nice job! You are always full of surprises.. I do have a question When I try to find the pearlescent paint on line they only offer the pearl paints, would these pearl paints give the same result?

      I’m not sure - do they appear white? I’ve only used the Amsterdam ones? So for example, Arteza have a “Pearl” range but are nothing like the pearlescent (color changing)

    Hi Mark. First, I LOVE all of your work!! But I especially love the pearl paints. I have done a number of paintings with them. I wanted to ask you if you thought they would work as a layered flip cup, or a dirty flip cup (marble pour)? Thank you for any help you can give me. 😊

      Thank you so much. If you do a flip cup make sure you drizzle some black paint between each layer (not too much though!).

    Be careful with your marble if you have a cat. My marble rolled off the table and before I even had a chance to experiment with it, the cat claimed immediate ownership and I haven't seen it since. BTW, what a stellar piece of artwork!

    Im a bit confused as to what your pouring medium is please? Then how much of this do you use to mix in with the pearlescent paints? Is your black base the same mixture please? Thank you

      Я покупаю в строительных магазинах колер, в том числе перламутр и металлики и делаю большие количества на основе клея ПВА, ВЫХОДИТ в 5 раз дешевле чем профессиональная краска, а качество для любителя такое же.
